SHARING OUR BLESSINGS—
Weekly $5664 (including $409 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $79.00; Fuel $136; Catholic Home Mission $86.00;
Electronic Giving $140
Weekly Budget $7000 - under budget $981
Stewardship note: “No one can serve two masters; for either
he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to
the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (material wealth).” (Matthew 6:24) Do you have other
“gods” in your life (job, money, power, ego, possessions)? Do
you put them before the Lord? A stewardship lifestyle means
putting God first, in all things! It means living stewardship 7
days a week, 24 hours a day and not just the time that I go to
Church or participate in my parish ministry. It means reprioritizing and putting God first.
EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
March 2, 2014
Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.
~ Isaiah 49:15
GOD IS A LOVING PARENT
Some scripture passages require a good deal of study before
they yield their inner meaning. Not so with
today’s Gospel, a continuation of the Sermon
on the Mount. Here we have Jesus’ well known
saying about God’s care for us. No one can
serve two masters” and “Look at the birds in
the sky” have become idioms in our culture.
Perhaps they have become too familiar. Jesus’ point is a simple
one - if we keep our hearts set on the important things, God
will take care of the rest. His use of simple images from nature
- birds, flowers, grass - would have resonated just as deeply
with his listeners then as they do today.
The brief passage from Isaiah, situated as it is in alonger section on the restoration of Zion, uses a wonderful feminine image to portray God’s care for us. Even more than a mother’s
care for her own child is God’s attentiveness to our needs. Juxtaposed with the Gospel reading, an image of God as doting
parent surfaces. No wonder St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians is more confident in the judgment of the Lord than in
any human assessment! For those whose hearts are set on
God’s priorities, the time of judgment can bring nothing but
good.
The second collection this week is for Diocesan Obligations.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated for Higher
Energy and Fuel Costs.
NOVENA TO THE DIVINE MERCY
Sunday, March 2nd has been set aside for special devotions to
the Divine Mercy. We invite all parishioners to find time in
their busy schedules and join us at 3:00pm to sing the chaplet
and Benediction.
CATHOLIC FREE PRESS
Reminder: Subscriptions and renewals of The Catholic Free
Press ($30 annual fee) are still being accepted. Please use the

LENTEN REGULATIONS
Lenten fast and abstinence regulations for the Diocese of
Worcester are as follows:
Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen (14) years of age and older on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting is to be observed by all
Catholics who are eighteen (18) years of age but not yet fiftynine (59) years of age on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Those who are bound to fast may take only one full meal. Two
smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength
according to one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals
is not permitted. Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed Lenten penitential practices.
LENTEN SCHEDULE
Ash Wednesday - Imposition of ashes will take place during the Masses at 6:30am & 7:00pm. Also a prayer service with
the imposition of ashes will take place at 8:30am for SJS students and at 3:00pm for the parishioners.
Ash Wednesday Almsgiving. The Lenten season is marked
with three important Penance practices: fasting, prayer, and
almsgiving. As you receive the ashes at the altar, please consider making your sacrificial almsgiving by placing your donation in the basket in the sanctuary. This year’s donations will be
designated to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Devotional Schedule: Sunday-the singing of Gorzkie Zale
(Lenten Lamentations) will take place every Sunday afternoon
at 3:00pm. Every Friday (the Stations of the Cross will be
prayed at 1:30pm in English with the students of St. Joseph
School (parishioners and parents are welcome) and at 7:00pm
in Polish.
Confessions. Confessions will be heard each day during Lent
following the 6:30am Mass and Saturdays at 3:00pm.
As part of our Diocesan „Come Home to God’s Mercy”
pastoral initiative, priests will be available on every Tuesday
evening during Lent from 7-8:00pm in our Basilica to hear
confessions. This program gives Catholics who have not
celebrated the Sacrament of Penance in many years the
occasion to do so.
Children’s Lenten Mass. The 9:30am Mass every Sunday
during Lent is designated as Family Children’s Lenten Mass.
All families with children are invited to come and celebrate the
Eucharist.
The Lenten Season is associated with personal sacrifices,
good deeds, resolutions, etc. Every child who during the week
performs good deeds writes them (on a form provided) and on
the following Sunday during the Offertory Procession will
place the form in the“Lenten Flower Sacrifice Basket”. In turn
they will receive a flower to be put at the base of the cross.
These sacrifices will turn into a beautiful gift for Jesus at
Easter.
HOLY ROSARY SODALITY will be selling Butter Braids
and Cookie Dough beginning March 8, 2014. Order forms will
be available at entrances to the church and should be returned
no later than March 24, 2014. Enclose cash or check payable to
Holy Rosary Sodality. You can return the payment in collection
baskets or at the rectory during business hours. Pick up date
will be April 12 and 13 in the school.
NOVENA AND DEVOTIONS TO ST. JOSEPH
Every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm we ask parishioners and
friends, who seek Divine assistance in their personal and family
life through the intercession of St. Joseph, to join us for the
Novena prayer. The primary role of not only St. Joseph, but all
the saints, is to lead all people to God. All special graces even
miracles people received through the intercession of various
saints is the obvious proof that God cares for our well being.
St. Joseph who is closely connected to Jesus Christ is a most
powerful intercessor on our behalf.
On March 5th we ask members of the Sacred Heart Society
to take part in this Novena and assist in bringing the statue into
the sanctuary. Please use the forms in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel to voice your petitions.
As the Lenten Season begins, this would be an opportune
time for us to participate in this special Mass and Novena/ Devotion and ask for needed graces.
FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
On March 7th, First Friday adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will commence after the 7:00am Mass and conclude at
3:00pm with the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy followed by
benediction. Adorers are asked to attend at their scheduled
time. Please note: All members and parishioners are cordially
invited to join us at the 7:00am Mass which is designated for
deceased members of the Sacred Heart Society. A Mass in the
Polish language will be celebrated at 7:00pm.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
ÓSMA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA
2 marca 2014
“Czyż może niewiasta zapomnieć o swym niemowlęciu, ta, która kocha
syna swego łona? A nawet, gdyby ona zapomniała, Ja nie zapomnę o
tobie8. (Iz 49, 15)
Dopóki Duch Święty nie przekona nas
o miłości Boga, dopóty nie poczujemy się
prawdziwie wolni, lecz będziemy wewnętrznie
podzieleni, chwiejni. Bóg, nie zrażając się
naszymi kryzysami, zwątpieniami, poczuciem
osamotnienia, nie przestaje powtarzać: Ja nie zapomnę o tobie.
Kiedy w końcu dotrą do nas te słowa, znajdziemy spokój.
Przyjęcie z wiarą miłości Bożej w Eucharystii jest najlepszą
receptą na wszystkie nasze troski.
