AMEN
Take a look around the walls of your
church. Even if it’s only a year or two old, the
word “Amen” has resounded off those walls
countless times at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer and as the faithful have come
forward to receive the Body and Blood of
Christ. Today’s feast is about those “Amens” offered in faith,
offered in times of trouble or doubt, spoke in joy, spoken mindlessly, but all given to God in a multitude of ways. It is our
very lives that lie behind our “Amens” and are touched by the
presence of Christ, the presence we celebrate today. More importantly, we celebrate the love of Christ for us shown in the
sacrifice on Calvary and that he continues to give to us in every
celebration of the Eucharist. What can we do but rejoice in that
great love, and then go out into the world and live that love in
sacrificing for others?
The second collection this weekend is for the Mission Appeal
by Rev. Fr. Jones Kukatla for Kurnool Diocese, India.
The second collection next week is designated for Peter’s
Pence collection and our final in-pew collection for the 2014
PARTNERS IN CHARITY APPEAL. You may place both
envelopes in the second collection.
This weekend we welcome Father Jones Kukatla, Mission
Representative of the Kurnool Diocese of India. Fr. Kukatla
will familiarize us with the life patterns of the villages in
India.
CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION
On Sunday, June 22, is the Feast of the Holy Body and Blood
of Christ, also referred to as Corpus Christi. This year mass
will be celebrated at 11:00am followed by procession to four
altars in the Basilica area.
Please plan your day so as to take part in this solemn procession. We ask all parish organizations to participate with their
banners and emblems. The banner should be displayed during
mass in the sanctuary. All Eucharistic Ministers, First Communion children and altar servers in their outfits should join us.

FESTIVAL 41 REFLECTIONS
Our 41st annual festival is history - We are grateful to our
entire parish family for their participation and support with
many hours of toil and hustle to make this weekend unique and
special.
We are especially indebted to our Co-chairmen, John Gasparik and Peter Sirard, Chief Chef, Artie Hunt and General
Treasurer, Ewa Mamro and also the assistance of Jennifer
Herbst. We acknowledge the help of the entire festival committee, chairpersons, volunteers involved in the food prep-work, in
the set-up and take-down and kitchen staff preparing food for
transport to PACC.
We appreciate the involvement of our Saint Joseph School
children displaying their many talents and also to the Piast Folk
Group for their outstanding presentation.
This year’s festival due to many necessary changes was different and sometimes difficult but to the credit of all our kind
hearted, industrious parishioners, school parents and volunteers
we prevailed to offer our visitors and guests a terrific weekend
enjoyed by all.

SCHOOL IS OUT!
The last day of school, Wednesday, June 18th began with a
traditional thanksgiving Mass concelebrated by Msgr.
Czarnecki and Fr. Grzegorz. After mass various awards and
recognitions were presented to the students of SJS.
It was an emotional day as students said goodbye to their
teachers and classmates. There were plenty of hugs, even tears,
but above all the joy of summer vacation.
May God bless and keep all the children of our school safe
until they return rested and healthy at the end of August.
SOLEMNITY OF SS PETER AND PAUL, APOSTLES
On Sunday, June 29, we will observe the Solemnity of the
martyrdom of SS Peter and Paul. The celebration is of ancient
origin and is one of the higher ranging holy days during the
ecclesiastical year, but is not a holy day of obligation. On this
day newly appointed archbishops receive the primary symbol of
their office, called pallium, from the pope.
Day of Indulgence. On this day, St. Joseph Basilica has the
privilege to grant indulgences to the faithful. A plenary indulgence may be obtained under the usual conditions, which
means reception of Communion, confession if needed, a visit to
Saint Joseph Basilica and prayer in the intention of the Holy
Father. A plenary indulgence may be obtained only once and a
partial indulgence as many times as the Basilica is visited and a
prayer is said in the intention of the Holy Father.
OFFICE OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Please register your son/daughter for the fall session of religious education classes before July 1, 2014. Registration fee is
$30 for one child and $50 for two or more children. After July
1st, there will be an additional fee of $5. The total number of
students is necessary for planning purposes. Forms are available in the sacristy.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY APPEAL
The second collection next weekend (in-pew collection) will
be our final one for this year’s appeal. We presently have
reached, 88 % of our goal. Please prayerfully consider making
a donation. A gift in any amount will be received with gratitude. For your convenience, envelopes are available in the
pews. We thank you for your generosity and support in helping
us to attain our goal.
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
Please make a special effort to join the Sacred Heart Society
on Wednesday, June 25th at 7:00pm for our weekly Novena
and Devotion to St. Joseph. We have the opportunity to ask our
Patron to help us live in love and harmony, peace and joy with
one another and that virtue and goodness may adorn what we
do and lead us to heaven.
Your intentions may be listed on the petition cards available
in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel to be read during the
devotion. Your donations are welcome.
Sacred Heart Society - is conducting their annual membership drive inviting parishioners to join our spiritual parish organization to pray and worship together. Please call President
Theresa Jankowski at (508) 943-5355 to become a member and
participate in the installation on Sunday, June 29th at the
8:15am liturgy followed by a coffee hour in the school conference room.
Parish Prayer Line - need special prayers for yourself or
family member or a friend? You may place your requests in the
intentions box beneath the cross at the front entrance of the
Basilica or call Theresa Jankowski at (508) 943-5355. Your
intentions will be prayed on a daily basis by a group of dedicated parishioners and also included in the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy on the First Friday of the month.
FUNERAL MASSES
We have been concerned at the growing number of Catholics
omitting Funeral Masses for their loved ones. To remind
Catholics of the importance of a Funeral Mass the Diocese is
promoting an educational campaign to raise awareness to this
situation.
Simple question and answer brochures explaining Funeral
Masses that may be helpful to our parishioners are available at
the entrances of the Basilica. Please take a brochure home, read
the information and if you have any questions please call the
rectory.
PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION
One of the many opportunities we have as Catholics is to
respond to Pope Francis’ call to be a witness of Charity in support of his work of Pope Francis by being generous in The Peter’s Pence Collection.
In many places around the globe, the Catholic Church struggles to be a visible sign of Christ’s peace: in poor dioceses
where many depend on the Church for social and pastoral support; in regions where Catholics are persecuted and must be
helped discreetly; in nations overloaded with refugees or victims of war and natural disaster.
Your generosity allows us to share in the concern of the successor of Peter for the many different needs of the universal
Church and for the relief of those most in need around the
world.

YG camping weekend: June 23 - 27: “Camp Catholic”
Vacation Bible School at Sacred Heart Church Hall from

Women in Scripture Workshop - will be held at St. Anthony’s, Dudley, MA July 20th from 1:30—3:00pm. The first
workshop will explore the lives of Ruth and Naomi. All interested youth in grades 1-12 are invited to learn more about these

UROCZYSTOŚĆ BOŻEGO CIAŁA

ZBIÓRKA NA MISJE W INDIACH
Dziś odwiedza nas ks. Jones Kukatla z diecezji Kurnool
w Indiach, misji katolickiej założonej w 1967r., która ciągle
zmaga się z ogromnymi trudnościami ekonomicznymi
i infrastrukturalnymi. Ks. Jones przybliży nam warunki i
potrzebu życia lokalnej społecznosci chrzescijanskiej
Aby nie popaść w rutynę, w obojętność
wobec cudu i łaski Eucharystii, ciągle musimy
rozpoznawać, że w niej uobecnia się nasz Pan,
który przez swoją Ofiarę wyprowadził nas
z niewoli. Dziś wpatrujemy się w tajemnicę,
która bezpośrednio nas dotyczy. Bóg, którego
naturą jest miłość, czyli dawanie siebie, przez Komunię świętą
chce nas uzdalniać do tego samego. Przyjmując Jezusa,
wchodzimy we wspólnotę z Nim, ale i ze wszystkimi, którzy
Go przyjmują – zaczynamy na nich patrzeć tak jak On.
PROCESJA BOŻEGO CIAŁA
W Uroczystość Bożego Ciała oddajemy cześć Chrystusowi
obecnemu w Najświętszym Sakramencie podążając w
uroczystej procesji, którą rozpoczniemy tuż po Mszy św. o
godz. 11: 00. Na Mszę i procesję zapraszamy wszystkich
parafian oraz organizacje parafialne ze swoimi sztandarami i
odznaczeniami.
Druga kolekta dzisiejszej niedzieli jest przeznaczona na
wsparcie pracy duszpasterskiej w diecezji Kurnool w Indiach.
W następny weekend odbędzie się specjalna kolekta na Peter’s
Pence Colection, oraz już po raz ostatni na Partners in Charity.

KONIEC ROKU SZKOLNEGO
Ostatni dzień szkoły rozpoczął się tradycyjnie Mszą św. dziękczynną
koncelebrowaną przez ks. Prałata i ks. Grzegorza. Po Mszy uczniowie
otrzymali różnorodne nagrody i wyróżnienia za osiągniecia
w zaangażowanie w ciągu całego roku szkolnego. To był bardzo
emocjonalny dzień. Uczniowie pożegnali swoich nauczycieli
i kolegów. Było wiele uścisków, a nawet łez, ale przede wszystkim
radość z wakacji.
Niech Bóg błogosławi i zachowa wszystkie dzieci od
niebezpieczeństw, tak by mogły zdrowe i wypoczęte powrócić
z nowymi siłami i zapałem do nauki we wrześniu.
UROCZYSTOŚĆ APOSTOŁÓW PIOTRA I PAWŁA
W niedzielę, 29 czerwca będziemy obchodzić Uroczystość
męczeństwa apostołów Piotra i Pawła. Uroczystości ta jest bardzo stara
i jest jednym z ważniejszych świąt w ciągu roku liturgicznego. Jeśli
przypada w dzień powszedni nie jest świętem obowiązkowym. W tym
dniu nowo mianowani arcybiskupi otrzymują od papieża symbol ich
posługi zwany paliuszem.
Dzień odpustu. W tym dniu, Bazylika św. Józefa ma przywilej
udzielania odpustów wiernym. Odpust zupełny można uzyskać na
zwykłych warunkach, co oznacza, przyjęcie komunii św., spowiedzi,
jeśli to konieczne, i nabożne nawiedzenie Bazyliki oraz modlitwa
w intencji Ojca Świętego. Odpust zupełny można uzyskać tylko jeden
raz w ciągu dnia, odpust cząstkowy zaś wielokrotnie.
PODZIĘKOWANIE
Kierujemy serdeczne podziękowanie dla pana Franciszka
Piwowarczyka za ofiarę $1000 na budowę Sali Gimnastycznej.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Zapraszamy wszystkich parafian, aby dołączyli do nas w środę,
25 czerwca o godz. 19: 00 na naszej cotygodniowej Nowennie
i nabożeństwie do św. Józefa. W czasie tej szczególnej modlitwy
mamy możliwość prosić naszego Patrona, aby pomagał nam żyć
w miłości i harmonii, pokoju i radości wzajemnej.
Intencje, które będą czytane w czasie Nowenny prosimy wpisywać
bardzo czytelnie na kartach dostępnych w kaplicy Matki Bożej
Częstochowskiej. W tym tygodniu w procesji z figurą św. Józefa idą
członkowie Sacred Heart Society.
Sacred Heart Society zaprasza parafian do przyłączenia się do ich,
aby wspólnie modlić się i wielbić Boga i pogłębić z Nim duchową

MSZE POGRZEBOWE
Coraz bardziej niepokoi rosnąca liczbą katolików, którzy organizują
uroczystości pogrzebowe dla swoich bliskich z pominięciem Mszy św.
W związku z nasianiem się tego zjawiska Diecezja Worcester
rozpoczyna program mający na celu uświadomienie wiernym
ważności Eucharystii i jej roli w naszym życiu.
Bardzo prosimy o zapoznanie się z treścią broszurek na temat
Eucharystii, które znajdują się przy wejściach do świątyni.
ZBIÓRKA NA PETER'S PENCE
Zbiórka Peter's Pence jest coroczną ogólnoświatową akcją, której
celem jest wsparcie Ojca Świętego w pomocy ofiarom katastrof
naturalnych, wojen i prześladowań. Papież korzysta również z tych
ofiar we wspieraniu znajdujących się w potrzebie wspólnot wiary.

HISTORIA BOŻEGO CIAŁA
„Boże Ciało” to Uroczystość, która wyrosła na podłożu adoracyjnego kierunku pobożności eucharystycznej rozwijającej się na Zachodzie od przełomu XI i XII w., przeżywana jest obecnie w czwartek po uroczystości Trójcy Świętej. Bezpośrednią przyczyną
ustanowienia uroczystości Najświętszego Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa były objawienia bł. Julianny z Cornillon. Pod ich wpływem bp Robert ustanowił w 1246 r. święto Bożego Ciała, początkowo dla diecezji Liege.
W 1252 r. legat papieski rozszerzył obchodzenie tego święta na Germanię, natomiast papież Urban IV bullą "Transiturus" z 1264
r. ustanowił Boże Ciało świętem obowiązującym w całym Kościele jako "zadośćuczynienie za znieważanie Chrystusa w Najświętszym Sakramencie, błędy heretyków oraz uczczenie pamiątki ustanowienia Najświętszego Sakramentu".
Śmierć papieża Urbana IV przeszkodziła ogłoszeniu bulli. Dokonał tego papież Jan XXII (w 1334 r.), natomiast papież Bonifacy
IX polecił w 1391 r. wprowadzić święto Bożego Ciała wszędzie tam, gdzie jeszcze nie było ono obchodzone.
Procesje eucharystyczne w dniu Bożego Ciała wprowadzono później niż samo święto. Pierwszym śladem ich istnienia jest
wzmianka o uroczystej procesji przed sumą w Kolonii w latach 1265-75. Podczas procesji niesiono krzyż z Najświętszym Sakramentem. W ten sposób nawiązywano do dawnego zwyczaju zabierania w podróż Eucharystii dla ochrony przed niebezpieczeństwami. W XV w. procesje eucharystyczne odprawiano w całych Niemczech, Anglii, Francji, północnych Włoszech i Polsce. W Niemczech procesję w Uroczystość Bożego Ciała łączono z procesją błagalną o odwrócenie nieszczęść i dobrą pogodę, dlatego przy czterech ołtarzach śpiewano początkowe teksty Ewangelii i udzielano uroczystego błogosławieństwa.
W Polsce od czasów rozbiorów z udziałem w procesji łączyła się w świadomości wiernych manifestacja przynależności narodowej. Po II wojnie światowej procesje w czasie Bożego Ciała były znakiem jedności narodu i wiary. Z tej racji ateistyczne władze
państwowe niejednokrotnie zakazywały procesji urządzanych ulicami miast. Obecnie obchody cieszą się swobodę i popularnoscią.
