CALL FOR PAPERS
You are warmly invited to submit a proposal for the upcoming April Conference: “Beyond Words:
Crossing Borders in English Studies”
April Conference is a triennial international conference which has been organized by the Institute of
English Studies at the Jagiellonian University since 1978. The Conference is an opportunity to bring
together scholars working in the various disciplines that make up English and American Studies.
We will be pleased to accept papers on a variety of topics including interdisciplinary ones. In the
forthcoming edition of our conference the usual General sessions on British and American
literature, general and applied linguistics, translation and cultural studies, the teaching of English as
a foreign language and related topics will be accompanied by four Thematic sessions: Digital
Humanities, James Joyce, Language Contacts and Old and Middle English Literature, the last two of
which are organized in cooperation with the Association of Students of English at the Jagiellonian
University. Papers from researchers, academic teachers as well as students and PhD candidates will
be accepted in all sessions.
We kindly ask you to send your paper proposals accompanied by abstracts of ca. 200 words to the
persons responsible for the particular session at the following email addresses:

The Conference fee is 600 PLN (approx. 150 EUR, or 200 USD) for non-students and 100 PLN
(approx. 25 EUR, or 35 USD; this fee does not include the conference dinner) for students and PhD
