The Srebrne Szpalty Award for “Świat Piwa” and Kompania Piwowarska’s
Report on sustainable growth.
On 23 May the winners of the Szpalty Roku 2013 award were announced in the Capitol Theatre
in Warsaw. Two accolades went to Kompania Piwowarska: Srebrne Szpalty for the internal
bulletin “Świat Piwa” and for the company’s Report on sustainable development 2012.
This year the projects submitted as part of the contest competed within four categories: An employee
magazine (3 sub-categories related to the circulation), Magazines for clients and business partners (3
sub-categories related to the circulation), Single-event publications and Electronic Medium. Cover of
the Year 2013 was an additional prize granted by the Internet users within each sub-category of
corporate magazines.
Kompania Piwowarska submitted its “Świat Piwa” magazine in the Szpalty Roku 2013 contest in the
category for “Employee magazine, circulation of 1,001-5,000 copies” (developed in cooperation
with Morski Graphic Design) and the company’s Report on sustainable growth 2012 in the “Single
event publication” category (in cooperation with Double Brand agency). Both publications were
awarded with Srebrne Szpalty; the former for setting an editorial standard and the content’s high
quality, the latter for an original graphic design emphasizing the brand’s value. In 2008, during the first
edition of the contest, KP scooped one Srebrne Szpalty award for its employee magazine.

About beer with passion
“Świat Piwa" is Kompania Piwowarska’s internal magazine published since 1999. The magazine is
distributed to approximately 3,200 individuals in all the breweries and depots all over the country. It is
dedicated to all the company’s employees plus made available to retired employees, selected
employees of the SABMiller Group in the world, KP guests and interested parties (journalists,
collectors).
First and foremost, the magazine is a source of information about what is going on in Kompania
Piwowarska, its divisions and its environment (the company’s performance, organizational changes,
the board’s important decisions, new products, management-related projects and activities,
information about SABMiller, the majority shareholder). The magazine’s other important role is to
educate the employees on the company’s brands, the beer market, sales channels and in the realm of
environmentally-friendly attitudes and responsible drinking. By enriching knowledge on the company’s
products, production methods, modes of serving beer or beer trivia, the magazine promotes the Beer
Ambassador’s attitude among the employees. On top of that, it underpins bilateral communication by
means of links to the Małe Piwo social portal where the employees have access to extended versions
of the articles published in the monthly, photographs and video materials. The magazine also provides
entertainment by promoting sports and cultural events. The editorial team for “Świat Piwa” represents
various departments of the company and cooperates with other KP employees.
The Szpalty Roku contest has been organized for 5 years by the Association of Corporate Publications
(Stowarzyszenie Prasy Firmowej). The contest’s goal is to propagate high standards of content
marketing in Poland by awarding and promoting the best publications. The contest’s jury consists of
experts in marketing, public relations, press design, typography, photography, information graphics
and journalism. The jury is headed by Tomasz Raczek.
