Sunday Collection: June 7, 2009
Beginning July 1, 2009 the Saturday Mass
schedule will be as follows:
► The 8AM morning Mass on Saturdays
will be cancelled with the exception of the 1st
Saturday of each month. An 8AM Mass will
be celebrated every 1st Saturday and the 1st
Saturday Holy Hour will continue to be
prayed after the Mass.
► The Saturday evening Mass in English will continue to be
celebrated at 5PM. After the 5PM Mass, Baptisms in the
Spanish language will be administered on the 1st and 3rd
Saturdays and on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, baptisms in
the English language will be administered.
► A 6:30PM Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated
every Saturday. (The Sunday 7PM Mass will be cancelled).
Sunday Mass Schedule:
► 8:30 AM—Mass in the English language.
► 10:00 AM—Mass in the Polish language (Baptisms will take
place after this Mass in the Polish language.)
► 12 PM—Mass in the Spanish Language
► 4PM—Mass in the Spanish Language
We are confident that our parishioners will be understanding
and will accept the new Mass schedule. We, your priests will
continue to serve our parishioners to the best of our ability. May

¨Then He took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them
and they all drank frrom it.” Mark 14-23.
Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He
gave Himself to us completely for our salvation. He offered us the chance to drink from His cup. In Eucharist we
meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we will
know what drinking from His cup means for each of us .
Often it means our own sacrifice—giving up some of our
time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth.

This weekend, a special collection will be taken up
solely for the retired priests of the Archdiocese of
Chicago. Many people remember with fondness the
priest that baptized them, gave them First Communion, celebrated their marriage, and visited them at
home or in the hospital. These memories often involve the current retired priests of our Archdiocese. The Archdiocese of Chicago is committed to caring for our retired priests,
but it needs your assistance and the generosity of every parish
community.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL REPORT:
To date, those who have made pledges to the Annual Catholic
Appeal from St. Mary of Czestochowa Parish have paid $13,908
toward the parish goal of $20,372. There is a $6,464 deficit to
be paid. Any amount over $20,372 will be returned to our parish.
If you have made a pledge, please consider keeping up with the
payments; your cooperation for the benefit of our parish is much

have received our 2009 Parish Raffle Book
and the information sheet explaining details
about the raffle. The next Early Bird raffle
drawing will be held on Sunday June 21st
(Fathers’ Day). The prize will be an MP3 Car Stereo.
In order to be eligible for the Early Bird raffles, you must sell
all 20 raffle tickets and payment of $100 for them must be received before the Early Bird drawings. The cover of the raffle
book is used for the drawing.
Additional raffle books can be obtained at the rectory office.

THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (CORPUS CHRISTI
Gospel (Mark 14:12-16, 22-26)
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it, this is my body,’
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and gave it to them, and
they all drank from it. He said, This is my blood of the covenant
which shall be shed for many.’”
The Mass is much more than a ritual action we repeat over and
over again. It is an invitation to sit at the same table with Jesus
and the apostles, eating his body and drinking his blood.
Through our participation we are not only transformed and renewed but also commissioned to go out to preach the Gospel
message in his name.

ceremonies as well as those taken of the Celebration of our

St. John of the Cross Parish, 51st and Wolf Road in Western
Springs, IL is holding its Annual Garage Sale. Thousands of
items (furniture, clothing, household items, toys, treasures,
books, lamps, lighting fixtures, bikes, hardware and garden supplies, etc.) at very low prices will be available. The sale will be
held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 9:00am –2:00pm. On
Monday, June 22 from 10:00am to 1:00pm there will be a 1/2
price bag sale. Everyone is invited.
Also known as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ,
Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday in Rome, but in the United States, this celebration is transferred to the nearest Sunday (June 14th ) this year, so that the
faithful do not miss out. Instituted in 1264 at the urging of St.
Juliana, Pope Urban IV commissioned St. Thomas Aquinas to
compose the office for this feast including the classic Eucharistic
hymns “Tantum Ergo,” and “O Salutaris Hostia”.
Soon the faithful organized public processions of the Eucharist
on or around that feast day, and this rite became a herald of the
beginning of summer. Church law continues to promote Eucharistic processions with these words: “Wherever in the judgment
of the diocesan bishop it can be done, a procession through the
streets is to be held, especially on the solemnity of Corpus
Christi, as a public witness of veneration of the Holy Eucharist.”

A special THANK YOU to our pastor, Fr. Radek, Fr. Dariusz and
the visiting priests, Fr. Norman Czajka, Fr. Stephen Kosinski, Fr.
Jim Antiporek and all of our parishioners, alumni, teachers, parents, students and friends for attending the special Liturgy celebrating and honoring the 100+ years that St. Mary of Czestochowa School was part of our parish. We wish success to the
new program that will be established in the Fall to serve Preschool children through age 8.

El cambio del horario de las Misas
Horario de misas en sábado:

La Misa de las 8.00 AM
será cancelada con la excepción del
primer sábado de cada mes (con la
hora santa después de la misa).

La Misa de la tarde seguirá
siendo celebrada a las 5 PM. Después de la misa serán celebrados
los bautizos; (el primer y tercer
sábado en Español y el segundo y
cuarto sábado de cada mes en Ingles).

La Misa en Polaco será celebrada cada sábado a
las 6:30 PM..
