Religious Education
The next Religious Education Class is
scheduled for Saturday February 11,
2006 beginning at 8:00am. Parents of
students in the Religious Education Program as well as the First Communion
Class from St. Mary of Czestochowa
School that will receive their First Holy
Communion in May should reserve the following dates for
mandatory parent meetings: Spanish language meeting:
Monday, Feb. 27th; English Language meeting on
Thursday, March 2nd. If the school office or the Religious
Education Program does not have a copy of your child’s
Baptismal certificate please bring a copy to the meeting.

A Celebration of Catholic Schools Week!.
If all goes as scheduled, we will be visited by a special guest during
Catholic Schools Week! Francis Cardinal George will join us for a prayer
service at 1pm on Friday, Feb. 3rd in the church. We invite all parishioners and interested persons to join us. We especially invite all of our
school helpers, volunteers, and benefactors to this prayer service. We
will ask the Cardinal to bless in a special way all of these wonderful
supporters of our school and Catholic Education in general. We will
thank the Cardinal for his staunch support for Catholic Schools. We will
also participate in the blessing of throats as this date is also the Feast of
St. Blasé. Other events of note: On Monday, January 30th we will host a
sale of religious goods and books presented by Pax Vobiscum, Inc.
Parishioners and parents are welcome to stop in to view and purchase
some quality items. Thursday, Feb. 2nd the children will consecrate
themselves to Jesus through Mary and all will receive the Miraculous

WELCOME TO OUR PARISH
MISSION…..A TIME OF GRACE
FOR ALL!
“He has sent me to proclaim
release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let
the oppressed to go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19)
A Parish Mission marks a time of intense prayer and
special preaching. Fr. Freund CSsR will be our Mission director. At the Family Mass on Saturday, March
4th Fr. Freund will bless all of the children in our parish. He will speak at the 7:30am and 9am Masses on
Sunday, March 5th.. Fr. Freund will instruct the congregation after the 8am Mass (Monday through Thursday-March 6 - 9); however the main Mission Service
will be held at 7PM in the church each evening. Our
Lord Jesus Christ is inviting all parishioners to mark
the Mission dates on your calendars: Monday, March
6th through Thursday, March 9th! Fr. Freund is prepared to give us a long-lasting religious experience.
Let us all pray for the success of our Mission!
“OF CANDLEMAS AND ST. BLASÉ”
Two prominent observances take place within the Church this
week: The Feast of the Presentation of Lord in the temple
(Candlemas) on Thursday, February 2nd and the feast of St.
Blasé on Friday, February 3rd..
As Jesus is the true Light, candles are blessed on February 2nd.
Often, candles—representative of those the parish will use
throughout the year— are blessed. Blessed candles are also
made available to parishioners to keep in their homes and light
during times of trial, prayer or joy. They are tangible reminders to
us all that we are to bring the light of Christ into our sometimes
dark and dreary world. We are to be mirrors of this light in that a
mirror must first accept an image before it can reflect it back out
for others to see.
The feast of St. Blasé is a good illustration of how the faith of
people influences the Church’s practice, as it is one of the more
popularly attended feasts of the year. Everyone knows that you
come to Church on the feast of St. Blasé to get your throat
blessed! St. Blasé was a physician who became Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia in the early 300’s. During the persecution of
Licinius, he was beheaded as a martyr in 316, but not before
healing a boy who was chocking, with prayer and blessing as he
was on his way to death. During the middle Ages, he became
widely popular as the patron saint of ailments associated with the
throat and his feast day was commensurately observed. This
custom gladly continues on in our own day. Using candles that
were blessed the day before, the priest places them around a
person’s throat and intones the following: “Through the interces-
sion of St. Blasé, Bishop and Martyr, may Almighty God deliver
you from all ailments of the throat and from every other evil.”
Remember to observe Candlemas Day and go to Church to get
your throat blessed on the feast of St. Blasé. May we all be preserved in good health and may the light of Christ shine brightly in
and through our lives!

ST. GIANNA BARETTA MOLLA
Born: October 4 in Magenta, Milan, Italy
Died: April 28, 1962 in Monza Maternity Hospital
Venerated: July 6, 1991 by Pope John Paul II
Canonized: May 18, 2004 by Pope John Paul II
Memorial, April 28
Profile: Tenth of thirteen children born to
Alberto and Maria Beretta, she was a pious
girl raised in a pious family; two brothers
became priests, a sister became a nun.
While in college, she worked with the poor
and elderly, and joined the Saint Vincent
DePaul Society. Physician and surgeon,
graduating from the University of Pavia in
1949, she started a clinic in Mero, Italy in 1950. She returned
to school and studied pediatrics, and after finishing in 1952
she worked especially with mothers, babies, the elderly, and
the poor. She was active in CATHOLIC ACTION. She considered a call to religious life, but was married to Pietro Molla
on September 24, 1955 at Magenta. Mother of three, she
continued her medical career, treating it as a mission and a
gift from God. During her pregnancy with her fourth child,
she was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. Her surgeon
recommended an abortion in order to save Gianna;s life; she
refused and died a week after childbirth, caring more for
doing right by her unborn child than for her own life. Today
that child, “Gianna Emanuela, is a physician herself, and is
involved in the pro-life movement.
Next Sunday, February 5th, Pierluigi, the son of St.Gianna
will speak at the 9am, 10:30am and 12:30pm Masses. He
will bring a relic of his mother for our parish; this relic will be
placed at the base of the statue of St. Gianna. Fr. Radek
purchased the statue and parishioners will be invited to give
a donation toward its cost next Sunday.
Information regarding EXTRAORDINARY
EXPENSES AND BUILDING PROJECT COLLECTIONS:
On October 18, 2005, our pastor Fr. Radek,
received the following news from the Exelon
Energy Company: “Effective November 1,
2005, your monthly budget invoice for the Church will increase
from $1,751.63 to $4,161.30 and the rectory budget will increase
from $632.32 to $1,292.43. The purpose of this increase is to
account for a record level spike in natural gas costs during the
critical winter months and to avoid the need for you to a make
large one-time reconciliation payment in May 2006.” Our projected goal to raise the monies to pay our gas bills is $45,000!
Thus we will take up a second collection for EXTRAORDINARY
EXPENSES to reach our goal of $45,000. The collection on January 23rd for this expense amounted to $2,223; we are very grateful for your generosity! Our deficit to meet our new gas costs is
$42,777!
The BUILDING PROJECT second collection will be used to
defray the cost of necessary repairs to all of our parish buildings
as the need arises.
Just as we have met our goal for the cost of our new boilers, we
are confident that the generosity of our parishioners will also help
us to defray the cost of unexpected expenses we need to face in
the future!

parroquia.
El domingo 5 de febrero a
horas 12:30 vamos a entronizar las reliquias de
Santa Gianna Beretta protectora de las familias.
Para esta fiesta va a estar
presente su hijo Pierluigi
cual va a venir de Italia
con reliquia de su
“MADRE-SANTA” a nuestra parroquia.
El Testimonio
"Jamás creí estar viviendo con una santa. Mi esposa tenía infinita confianza en la Providencia y era
una mujer llena de alegría de vivir. Era feliz, amaba
a su familia, amaba su profesión de médico, también amaba su casa, la música, las montañas, las
flores y todas las cosas bellas que Dios nos ha donado", confesó a la entrevistadora Pietro Molla,
mientras sus ojos brillaban de intensa emoción.
"Siempre me pareció una mujer completamente
normal pero, como me dijo Monseñor Carlo Colombo, la santidad no está solo hecha de signos extraordinarios. Está hecha, sobre todo, de la adhesión
cotidiana a los designio inescrutables de Dios",
agregó.
Pietro Molla todavía recuerda cuando Monseñor
Colombo lo llamó para pedirle introducir la causa de
beatificación de Gianna. "Mi respuesta positiva fue
muy sufrida. Sentimos que teníamos que exponer
algo muy nuestro. La historia de mi esposa y su
figura de mujer fueron cada vez más conocidas… A
nosotros y a la familia de mi esposa nos seguían
llegando numerosas cartas de todas partes del
mundo. Nos escribían mujeres alemanas y estadounidenses que llamaban a Gianna "mamá"; que declaraban que en ella encontraban a una amiga y
que afirmaban que se dirigían a ella cuando tenían
necesidad de ayuda y que la sentían muy cercana"
La Educación religiosa
La Proxima clase de religión se llevara
acabo el Sabado, Febrero 11 a las

la clases religiosas y tambien los que
haran la primera comunión y tambien los

W mieście Kafarnaum Jezus w szabat wszedł do
synagogi i nauczał. Zdumiewali się Jego nauką:
uczył ich bowiem jak ten, który ma władzę, a nie
jak uczeni w Piśmie. Był właśnie w synagodze człowiek opętany przez ducha nieczystego. Zaczął on
wołać: Czego chcesz od nas, Jezusie Nazarejczyku?
Przyszedłeś nas zgubić. Wiem, kto jesteś: Święty
Boży. Lecz Jezus rozkazał mu surowo: Milcz i
wyjdź z niego. Wtedy duch nieczysty zaczął go targać i z głośnym krzykiem wyszedł z niego. A wszyscy się zdumieli, tak że jeden drugiego pytał: Co to
jest? Nowa jakaś nauka z mocą. Nawet duchom
nieczystym rozkazuje i są Mu posłuszne. I wnet
rozeszła się wieść o Nim wszędzie po całej okolicznej krainie galilejskiej.

Wielkie wydarzenie
w naszej parafii
W niedzielę 5 lutego o godzinie
10:30 odbędzie się intronizacja
relikwii św. Joanny Berretta
Molla. Na tej Mszy będzie obecny jej Syn Pierluigi, który przyjedzie specjalnie na tę uroczystość.
Refleksje o życiu św. Joanny:
(…) „Piotrze, chciałabym być
dla ciebie kobietą, która czerpie
siłę z Ewangelii!” – tak pisała do swego męża kilka miesięcy przed ślubem. Chciałabym uczynić cię szczęśliwym,
będąc taką, jakiej pragniesz: dobrą, wyrozumiałą i gotową
do poświęceń, jakich będzie od nas wymagać”.
(…) Wkrótce przyszły na świat Pierluigi, Maria Zyta i Laura.
(…) Ciąże Joanna przeżywała zawsze ciężko, za każdym
razem wiele cierpiała, jednak to cierpienie zostało obficie
wynagrodzone radością, której doświadcza trzymając w
ramionach kolejne dzieci.
(…) Joanna czuła, że właśnie w macierzyństwie realizuje
się jej powołanie kobiety i chrześcijanki. Wyzna potem:
„Moje szczęście jest niewypowiedziane”.
Tam jednak, gdzie jest szczęście, są również łzy. Po zaledwie sześciu latach małżeństwa, kiedy cieszyła się trojgiem
dzieci i oczekiwała na czwarte, Joanna odkryła, że jest
chora na raka – jest to duży włókniak macicy. Mogłaby
uratować własne życie, ale za cenę życia dziecka, które
nosi w łonie, tego jednak nie chciała. „Teraz nadszedł moment, abym wypełniła swoja matczyną powinność”.
Joanna wypowiedziała swoje Fiat życiu, które było jednocześnie zgodą na krzyż. (…) Do końca wierna swojemu
matczynemu powołaniu, skłoniła męża do złożenia obietnicy: „Jeśli będziecie musieli wybierać między mną a dzieckiem, to bez wahania wybierzcie dziecko, pragnę, abyście
uratowali dziecko!”. (…) A wchodząc na salę operacyjną,
powiedziała: „Jestem gotowa na wszystko, czego zachce
Bóg”.
(…) Umarła kilka dni po wydaniu na świat małej Joanny
Emanueli. Była to wigilia Niedzieli Palmowej, 28 kwietnia
1962 roku – nie miała wtedy jeszcze czterdziestu lat.
24 kwietnia 1994 roku Jan Paweł II ogłosił ją błogosławioną
(16/05/2004 świętą).
Joanna była zwyczajną kobietą, zakochaną w życiu i zawsze uśmiechnięta. „Uśmiech miała w duszy” – wspominał
wzruszony mąż. „Była zadowoloną świętą”.
Ofiarowanie Pańskie - Matki Bożej Gromnicznej.
W czwartek 2-go lutego przypada Święto Ofiarowania Pana Jezusa w Świątyni. W polskiej
tradycji, to święto nazywane jest Świętem Matki Bożej Gromnicznej. W tym dniu podczas
Mszy św. Święcimy świece nazywane Gromnicami, prosząc Boga, by błogosławił naszym
rodzinom i obejściom.
Msza św. sprawowana będzie o godz. 8.00
wieczorem. Serdecznie zapraszamy.
