Poznań, 22 April 2008 Polish monuments support the national football team! What do monuments in Poznań, Krakow, Szczecin, Rzeszów, Zielona Góra, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Olsztyn, Opole and Toruń have in common? A red and white, national football team’s shirt. Yes, you got it right! Famous monuments in 9 Polish cities support the national football team as part of a social project launched by Tyskie brand "In Poland even monuments support our footballers ". The activities will end in mid-April. The whole country supports our footballers A national social project launched on 17 March by Tyskie brand "In Poland even monuments support our footballers" has the goal of encouraging Polish people to support the national football team. Its aim is also to unite Polish football fans in supporting the team together. For the first time in the history of Polish football, in June the Polish national football team coached by Leo Beenhakker will play at the European Championships Euro 2008. The project consisting in "dressing up" monuments as the national team footballers demonstrates that in the face of supporting our footballers, at a time crucial for Polish football fans even monuments "come back to life" and support the players. From Rzeszów up to Szczecin The list of "monumental football fans" includes monuments in 9 cities all over the country: Rzeszów and Krakow in the south up to Poznań and Szczecin in the north. The monuments embarking on the project include: Krakow – the Dragon of Wawel Hill Poznań – monuments to Adam Mickiewicz, Old Marych, Bamberg woman as well as Mars, Neptune and Apollo Szczecin – the monument to the Seaman Rzeszów – monuments to Adam Mickiewicz and Juliusz Słowacki Zielona Góra – the monument to the Winemaking woman Gorzów Wielkopolski - the monuments to Adam Mickiewicz, Edward Jancarz and Śfinster Opole – monuments to John the Good, the Old Soldier and Jerzy Grotowski Olsztyn – monuments to Nicolaus Copernicus and "Gymnasts" Toruń - monuments to Nicolaus Copernicus as well as Kargul and Pawlak In each city it was possible to complete the project owing to vely friendly support and great involvement on the part of the City Offices and local authorities. “The goal of the project 'In Poland even monuments support our footballers' is to encourage all Poles to support the national team in the upcoming finals of the European Football Championships. Hang out the flags In June 2006 when our footballers played at the football world cup in Munich, Germany the whole country supported them. A million of football fans’ flags sponsored by Tyskie for the time of the World Cup were spontaneously hoisted in the windows of houses, flats and offices, flying from bridges, cars and trams. The flags were displayed by football fans all over the country; they would even wrap themselves with the flags! They became a symbol of supporting Our Footballers.
