Obligations $1,472.50 (inc. $130.50 in loose money); Fall School
Appeal $94; CCD $22; Fuel $95. Weekly budget $7,500.
Stewardship Note. In today’s second reading, St. Paul thanks the
Philippians for being willing to share in his hardships and promises
that God, in turn, will fully supply all their needs. Our God truly
cannot be outdone in generosity!
Word of life. As persons with disabilities share their gifts and
needs, they bring out the best in our mutual humanity. They
challenge us to live the Gospel precepts of charity in the real world,
to sacrifice some of our comfort for others, to take the time to
enable them to be full members of society. They need to feel our
solidarity with them, and to know their true dignity and worth as
fellow sisters and brothers in Christ. Our own future with Christ
depends on it.
TWENTY-EIGHT SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
–Philippians 4:13
GOD REVEALED TO THE NATIONS
What wonderful images we have today of the reign of God!
Isaiah speaks to us of a great feast–a heavenly feast–a feast of
abundance with rich foods and choice wines. It is the Lord’s own
affair, Isaiah explains, when God will unite all nations, dry every
tear, and destroy death forever. Then, too, will the entire earth
rejoice in the Lord and bask in God’s saving grace.
Jesus speaks of heaven in terms of a feast as well. Here, the
kingdom of heaven is likened to a king’s wedding feast given for
his son. This is a feast of abundance also, with the fattened cattle
prepared just so. But many of the people invited don’t want to
come, so the king invites anyone who would honor his son by their
presence there. And Paul tells us that whether we live abundantly
or in humble circumstances, we can do all things in the Lord who
strengthens us.
The second collection this weekend is for Utilities and Energy.
The second collection next weekend is for Propagation of the Faith.
PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH
Next weekend all the parishes in the Diocese of Worcester
will take the Annual Collection for the Propagation of the Faith.
Bishop McManus writes “As the Father has sent me, so I send
you.” These words spoken by Christ in the Gospel of John serve
as the theme for this year’s World Mission Sunday. On Sunday,
Oct 16th, our diocese will celebrate World Mission Sunday and
our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, reminds us that we must be
a Church committed to being “builders of communion, of peace
and of solidarity.” On this occasion we unite with Catholics
throughout the world in a special pledge to the missionary task
that we all share.
Please take a flyer at the entrances of our Basilica for
additional information.
DONATIONS
St. Joseph School. We acknowledge donations of $352 from
St. Andrew Bobola parishioners in support of our school. In
memory of Stasia Beresik given by Cecilia Klatecki.
We are most grateful to Patricia and David Podbielski for their
generous donation of $1,000 toward the new reading series and
handbooks for our school children. This brings our current total
to $3,575. I am most grateful to those who gave from their need.
It is indeed a “widow’s mite”. I pray and hope that half of the
needed $35,000 will be raised by parishioners who owe a special
gratitude to God for received blessings.
St. Joseph Basilica. Thank you to the Holy Rosary Sodality
for their gift of $100 to help defray the cost of candles and
lighting at the Blessed Mother altar for the month of October.

JUBILEE COMMITTEE NEWS
The Jubilee Committee met on Tuesday, Oct. 4th to finalize
events for October and continue to plan the years upcoming
activities. The Committee was pleased with the great participation
at the unveiling and dedication of the Blessed John Paul II Statue.
The large participation of people indicates that this gift was greatly
appreciated and will live in the hearts of all parishioners for years
to come. The committee expressed their gratitude to Ted and
Helen Dawicki.
The Jubilee Committee has dedicated each month to a different
Saint. September was for Blessed John Paul II and October is
dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Holy Rosary Sodality is
organizing a Living Rosary on Sunday, Oct. 16. Other October
events include a Message of Saints night sponsored by the

for many who drifted away and are searching for God. Many
events will be communicated to you in upcoming bulletins. -Cindi
Gardner, Chairperson

REFLEKSJA JUBILEUSZOWA Ubieglej niedzieli rozpoczelismy dlugo
planowany i oczekiwany Rok Jubileuszowy. Pamiec ludzka bywa zawodna,
dlatego przez wiele stuleci historii ludzkosci wyksztalcial sie tradycja
jubileuszow. To one pozwalaja nam na powroty do czasow, kotre juz minely,
do wydarzen, ktore znaczaco zapisaly sie w naszym zyciu. Dzieki niem
mozemy powracac, chocby tylko myslami, do przeslosci i czerpac z niej radosc
i motywacje potrzebna do patrzenia w przyszlosc. Mowie sie, ze nie ma
przyszlosci ten, kto zapomial swoja przeszlosc. Wydaje sie jednak, ze my
Polacy, jako narod bardzo silnie przywiazany do tradycji i tego wszystkiego na
czym nasza Polskosc wyrasta, nie powinnismy sie obawiac tego co przed nami.
Spuscizna wiary i kultury pozostawiona nam przerz naszych ojcow i wielkich
synow naszego narodu daje nam ogromny potencjal do dzialania i budowania
dobra. Prowadzeni duchem naszych przodkow z odwaga i zapalem tworzmy
kolejne wiekie dziela dla naszgo dobra i chwaly Boga
