Friends,

Happy Easter! As we celebrate the great event of the
triumphant Resurrection of
Our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ, let us joyfully sing
our Alleluias! Our baptism
calls us into the family of Christ by a sharing in His Cross, death
and resurrection. We continue our Lord’s Mission of Love; we
are His family!
Therefore, let us follow Christ in this season of Easter and give
thanks for God’s greatest gifts to us – the gifts of: life, love, joy
and service to each other! Easter reminds us of our responsibility
to witness to our faith. May our lives give witness that Christ is
alive and at work in the world today. By living the Gospel values
that the Lord teaches and by allowing His love to permeate all
our actions we can join our voices with those of His first disciples
by acclaiming, “The Lord is risen! He is truly risen!”
Your parish priests are looking forward to seeing our families use
these celebrations as an opportunity to “enter the tomb” so that
on Easter Sunday we can all feel a renewed and stronger faith!

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of
the Lord

John 20:1-9
Mary of Magdala finds that the stone
has been removed from Jesus' tomb.
Background on the Gospel Reading
Today we begin the Easter Season, our 50-day meditation
on the mystery of Christ's Resurrection. Our Gospel today
tells us about the disciples' discovery of the empty tomb. It
concludes by telling us that they did not yet understand
that Jesus had risen from the dead. Thus, the details provided are not necessarily meant to offer proof of the Resurrection. The details invite us to reflect upon a most
amazing gift, that is faith in Jesus and his Resurrection.
Each of the four Gospels tells us that Jesus' empty tomb
was first discovered by women. This is notable because in
first-century Jewish society women could not serve as legal witnesses. In the case of John's Gospel, the only
woman attending the tomb is Mary of Magdala. Unlike the
Synoptic accounts, John's Gospel does not describe an
appearance of angels at the tomb. Instead, Mary is simply
said to have observed that the stone that had sealed the
tomb had been moved, and she runs to alert Simon Peter
and the beloved disciple. Her statement to them is telling.
She assumes that Jesus' body has been removed, perhaps stolen. She does not consider that Jesus has been
raised from the dead.
Simon Peter and the beloved disciple race to the tomb,
presumably to verify Mary's report. The beloved disciple
arrives first but does not enter the tomb until after Simon
Peter. This detail paints a vivid picture, as does the detail
provided about the burial cloths. Some scholars believe
that the presence of the burial cloths in the tomb offers
evidence to the listener that Jesus' body had not been stolen (it is understood that grave robbers would have taken
the burial cloths together with the body).
The Gospel passage concludes, however, that even having seen the empty tomb and the burial cloths, the disciples do not yet understand about the Resurrection. In the
passage that follows, Mary of Magdala meets Jesus but
mistakes him for the gardener. In the weeks ahead, the
Gospel readings from our liturgy will show us how the disciples came to believe in Jesus' Resurrection through his

appearances to them. Our Easter faith is based on their
witness to both the empty tomb and their continuing relationship with Jesus—in his appearances and in his gift of
the Holy Spirit.

Sunday of Divine Mercy

short procession at 3:30 p.m., and finalizing with a Trilingual Mass at 4:00 p.m.

vidas sean testigo de que Cristo sigue vivo y que su presencia esta presente a diario. Viviendo de acuerdo al Evangelio
que el Señor enseña y permitiendo que su amor impregne
todas nuestras acciones para que unamos nuestras voces
con la de sus primeros discípulos y aclamar, “¡Nuestro Señor
ha resucitado! ¡El esta realmente vivo!”
Nuestros sacerdotes parroquiales esperan que Usted junto
con su familia asistan duran las festividades lo usen como
oportunidad de “entrar a la tumba” para que en el Domingo
de Pascua todos nos podamos sentir renovados y con una fe
mas fuerte. Esperamos que participen en el Triduo Pascual
junto con toda nuestra familia parroquial durante la Semana
Santa.
Esperamos que durante esta temporada de Pascua sea una
de grandes bendiciones y llena de gracias para todos nuestros feligreses y amigos. Que la Paz del Señor, dada a sus

Domingo de Pascua
El primer día después del sábado, María Magdalena fue al sepulcro muy temprano, cuando todavía estaba oscuro, y vio que
la piedra que cerraba la entrada del sepulcro había sido removida. Fue corriendo en busca de Simón Pedro y del otro discípulo
a quien Jesús amaba y les dijo: «Se han llevado del sepulcro al
Señor y no sabemos dónde lo han puesto.»
Pedro y el otro discípulo salieron para el sepulcro. Corrían los
dos juntos, pero el otro discípulo corrió más que Pedro y llegó
primero al sepulcro. Como se inclinara, vio los lienzos tumbados, pero no entró. Pedro llegó detrás, entró en el sepulcro y vio
también los lienzos tumbados. El sudario con que le habían
cubierto la cabeza no se había caído como los lienzos, sino que
se mantenía enrollado en su lugar. Entonces entró también el
otro discípulo, el que había llegado primero, vio y creyó. Pues
no habían entendido todavía la Escritura: ¡él "debía" resucitar
de entre los muertos!

Po upływie szabatu, o świcie pierwszego dnia tygodnia
przyszła Maria Magdalena i druga Maria obejrzeć grób. A
oto powstało wielkie trzęsienie ziemi. Albowiem anioł
Pański zstąpił z nieba, podszedł, odsunął kamień i usiadł
na nim. Postać jego jaśniała jak błyskawica, a szaty jego
były białe jak śnieg. Ze strachu przed nim zadrżeli
strażnicy i stali się jakby umarli. Anioł zaś przemówił do
niewiast: Wy się nie bójcie! Gdyż wiem, że szukacie
Jezusa Ukrzyżowanego. Nie ma Go tu, bo
zmartwychwstał, jak powiedział. Chodźcie, zobaczcie
miejsce, gdzie leżał. A idźcie szybko i powiedzcie Jego
uczniom: Powstał z martwych i oto udaje się przed wami
do Galilei. Tam Go ujrzycie. Oto, co wam powiedziałem.
Pośpiesznie więc oddaliły się od grobu, z bojaźnią i wielką
radością, i biegły oznajmić to Jego uczniom. A oto Jezus
stanął przed nimi i rzekł: Witajcie. One podeszły do Niego,
objęły Go za nogi i oddały Mu pokłon. A Jezus rzekł do
nich: Nie bójcie się. Idźcie i oznajmijcie moim braciom:
niech idą do Galilei, tam Mnie zobaczą.

Ewangelią zaświadczamy, że Jezus uczy i przyzwala, by Jego miłość wypełniła wszystkie nasze poczynania. My możemy
również mieć udział w głoszeniu radosnej nowiny razem z
pierwszymi uczniami, że: „PAN ZMARTWYCHWSTAŁ, NAPRAWDĘ ZMARTWYCHWSTAŁ”.
Jest to okazja, by wejść do „grobu Jezusa”, by w Niedzielę
Wielkanocną odnowić naszą wiarę, aby była jeszcze piękniejsza. Prosimy Was, uczestniczcie w Triduum Paschalnym z
całą Rodziną Parafialną w tym świętym tygodniu.
Jeżeli sobie życzycie, możecie wasz dar wysłać pocztą do
biura parafialnego. Niech Wielkanocny czas będzie czasem
błogosławieństwa i łaski dla wszystkich naszych Parafian i
Przyjaciół.
