John 13:31-33a,34-35
Jesus gives his disciples a new commandment: love one another.
Background on the Gospel Reading
Today's Gospel again comes from the Gospel of John. Like
last week, today we hear words spoken by Jesus before his
death and Resurrection. Jesus is teaching at the Last Supper.
John's Gospel does not include an institution of the Eucharist
narrative; instead, Jesus washes his disciples' feet. Immediately after, Jesus predicts his betrayal by Judas. Today's Gospel follows that prediction. It can be read as a continuing explanation of Jesus' act of washing his disciples' feet. It begins
with the announcement that this is the moment when the Son
of Man will be glorified. This theme continues throughout
John's Passion. Jesus will be glorified in his death on the
cross and in his Resurrection, and the disciples will glorify Jesus in the love they show.
John's Gospel does not present a sentimental view of love.
This is a type of love that is shown in service and sacrifice. It is
difficult to choose to love when faced with hatred and anger.
Jesus tells the disciples that all will know that they are his disciples because of the love they show for one another. This
description of the early Christian community will be repeated in
the Acts of the Apostles: “See how they love one another.”
Christian love is the hallmark of Christianity. We see it lived in
the witness of the martyrs. We see it in the example of the
lives of the saints. We see it in the holy women and men who
live and love daily, making small and large sacrifices for others.
Mothers’ Day will be celebrated on Sunday May
12, 2013. If you would like to remember your
Mother, Stepmother, Grandmother, Aunt or
anyone who is “mother” to you, with a spiritual
gift - . a special Mass intention - please pick up
a MOTHERS’ DAY MASS INTENTION ENVELOPE which can be found at all entrances of
the church. Your “special person” will be remembered during all of the Masses on the
weekend of May11th and May 12th. Please
complete the information on the envelope and
place it in the collection basket with your offering when you come to
Mass.
CCD NEWS
Rehearsal for our First Communion class will be on Tuesday, April
30, from 4:00PM to 5:00 PM. Please meet in front of the school. Students will be pick up in front of the church. The last Religious Education Class will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Classes begin at
8:00 A.M.

OPPOSE SENATE BILL 10: THE REDEFINITION
OF MARRIAGE
Senate Bill 10 proposes to change the definition of
marriage in law from being between "a man and a
woman” to being between "two persons." This legislation proposes to fundamentally alter an institution
that has been the bedrock of human society for much
longer than our state has been in existence.
The redefinition of marriage proposed in Senate Bill
10 will:
> Declare that gender and gender differences play no
unique role in marriage and the family;
> Blur the inherent meaning of mother and father and
the rights of children to know and be loved by their
mother and father;
> Undermine the norms that have defined marriage
(i.e. gender, procreation) throughout human history
and that are essential for healthy families and the
common good of society;
> Reduce marriage to merely a reflection of the legislature's will - a category that the state will be free
to define and redefine regardless of Nature or Nature's God;
> Lead not to an expansion of marriage but to the
eradication of its sacred and natural definition
Religious Liberty:
Religious organizations must be free from government penalty if they cannot, in conformity with their
deeply held religious views, recognize same-sex
marriage. Senate Bill 10 allows only meager protections for what happens within the walls of select religious facilities. It offers very limited protections to
religiously affiliated nonprofits, which are extensions
of religious missions, or to individual conscience the right of any man or woman to live by their own
religious beliefs in every avenue of life. Every state
that has redefined marriage by legislation has offered
greater religious liberty protections than does Senate
Bill 10. Those states’ laws expressly insulate religious organizations and individuals from needless
clashes over this issue. Senate Bill 10's failure to
meet this standard is another reason to vote for its
defeat.

Mes de mayo dedicado
a la Virgen María
La Iglesia dedica a la Virgen María el mes de
Mayo para conocer mejor sus virtudes y
amarla más. Son muchas las virtudes de la
Virgen y podemos aprovechar este mes para
crecer en alguna de ellas.
Se trata de que nos esforcemos por vivir
como hijos suyos. Esto significa:
· Mirar a María como a una madre: Platicarle todo lo que
nos pasa: lo bueno y lo malo. Saber acudir a ella en todo
momento.
· Demostrarle nuestro cariño: Hacer lo que ella espera de
nosotros y recordarla a lo largo del día.
· Confiar plenamente en ella: Todas las gracias que Jesús
nos da, pasan por las manos de María, y es ella quien
intercede ante su Hijo por nuestras dificultades.
· Imitar sus virtudes: Esta es la mejor manera de demostrarle nuestro amor.
· Rezar en familia las oraciones especialmente dedicadas
a María especialmente el Santo Rosario.

LA VIRGEN MARIA
El coro Voces del Alma les invita cordialmente a
rezar el Santo Rosario en nuestra parroquia
todos los domingos a las 3:00pm durante el mes
de mayo, ofreciendo nuestras intenciones por
todas las mamas y por las intenciones del Papa Francisco. Imitemos las virtudes de nuestra Madre la Virgen María, recemos juntos en familia porque “la familia que reza unida permanece unida.”

Demos gracias a nuestras madres de una
manera especial, ofreciendo la Santa Misa por
ellas. Los sobres están disponibles en las
diferentes entradas de la iglesia. Usted puede
incluir el nombre de su mamá viva o fallecida y
poner el sobre con la ofrenda a la canasta de la
colecta dominical.

Exaltación de la Santa Cruz
Hacia el año 320 la Emperatriz Elena
de Constantinopla encontró la Vera
Cruz, la cruz en que murió Nuestro
Señor Jesucristo, La Emperatriz y su
hijo Constantino hicieron construir en
el sitio del descubrimiento la Basílica
del Santo Sepulcro, en el que guardaron la reliquia.
Años después, el rey Cosroes II de Persia, en el 614
invadió y conquistó Jerusalén y se llevó la Cruz poniéndola bajo los pies de su trono como signo de su
desprecio por el cristianismo. Pero en el 628 el emperador Heraclio logró derrotarlo y recuperó la Cruz
y la llevó de nuevo a Jerusalén el 14 de septiembre
de ese mismo año. Para ello se realizó una ceremonia
en la que la Cruz fue llevada en persona por el emperador a través de la ciudad. Desde entonces, ese día
quedó señalado en los calendarios litúrgicos como el
de la Exaltación de la Vera Cruz.
Todos están invitados a la Misa por la celebración de
la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz que se celebrara el día
viernes, 3 de mayo, 2013 a las 8:00 P.M

jestem z wami. Będziecie Mnie szukać, ale jak to Żydom powiedziałem, tak i teraz wam
mówię - dokąd Ja idę, wy pójść nie możecie.
Przykazanie nowe daję wam, abyście się wzajemnie miłowali tak, jak Ja was umiłowałem;
żebyście i wy tak się miłowali wzajemnie.

Pan Jezus mówi: “Miłujcie się nawzajem, tak, jak ja was umiłowałem.”
Kiedy dzielę się tym samym Ciałem i Krwią Jezusa z innymi,
w mojej wspólnocie (np. parafialnej), to w jaki sposób pomaga mi to wzmacniać moją więź z bliźnimi i wezwanie do miłości?

Królowej Polski
Od wieków już w dniu 3-go maja nasze myśli i serca skierowane
są na Jasną Górę, gdzie obchodzona jest Uroczystość Najśw. Maryi
Panny Królowej Polski. W czasie
szwedzkiego potopu w 16-ym
wieku ówczesny król, Jan Kazimierz miano Matkę
Bożą Królową Korony Polskiej. Ślubując Jej wierność całego narodu.
Matka Boża prowadziła i prowadzi nasz naród ku
jego przeznaczeniu poprzez wszystkie epoki chwały i
okresy narodowej niedoli.
3-ci maja to rocznica powstania konstytucji uchwalonej pod przewodnictwem Króla Stanisława Augusta. Konstytucja 3 maja jest drugą na świcie, a pierwszą w Europie nowoczesną konstytucją, regulującą
organizację władz państwowych, a także prawa i obowiązki obywateli.
W tym dniu 1791 r. nasi przodkowie uchwaloną
ustawę zasadniczą przynieśli przed ołtarze dając wyraz przeświadczeniu, że każde dzieło ludzkie winno
odnosić się do Boga. Uczmy się od nich tej wielkiej
miłości Boga i Ojczyzny.

poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W tym miesiącu składamy hołd
Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając litanię
loretańską do Matki Bożej jak też
rozważając tajemnice różańca świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym miesiącu czy to w sposób prywatny czy też
przez udział w nabożeństwie w kościele tej pięknej tradycji stało się zadość i abyśmy potrafili żyć tak jak żyła
Maryja Matka Chrystusa.

W niedziele nabożeństwa są celebrowane o godzinie
10:00AM, przed Mszą św. Serdecznie zachęcamy do licznego udziału w tych pięknych maryjnych nabożeństwach.

W tym tygodniu przypada pierwszy piątek miesiąca.
Zapraszamy na Mszę św. pierwszopiątkową o
godz. 6:30 wieczorem.
Parafia Matki Bożej Częstochowskiej
Święci Apostołowie Filip i Jakub
Filip pochodził z Betsaidy nad Jeziorem Galilejskim. Był uczniem Jana Chrzciciela. Powołany
przez Jezusa został jednym z dwunastu Jego
uczniów (J 1, 43-46):
Filip musiał się cieszyć specjalnym zaufaniem
Pana Jezusa, skoro poganie proszą go, aby im
dopomógł w skontaktowaniu się z Chrystusem:
W czasie ostatniej wieczerzy Filip prosi Pana Jezusa, aby pokazał
Apostołom swojego niebieskiego Ojca:
Filip jest patronem Antwerpii oraz pilśniarzy i czapników.
W ikonografii św. Filip przedstawiany jest z krzyżem, z pastorałem,
ze zwojem. Czasami trzyma w ręku kamienie - znak męczeństwa.
Towarzyszy mu anioł.
Jakub, zwany Młodszym lub Mniejszym (dla odróżnienia od drugiego Apostoła Jakuba, zwanego także Starszym - przy czym starszeństwo oznacza tu kolejność włączenia do grona Apostołów), był
synem Kleofasa i Marii (Mk 15, 40), rodzonym bratem św. Judy
Tadeusza, krewnym Jezusa.
Jakub, zwany Młodszym lub Mniejszym (dla odróżnienia od drugiego Apostoła Jakuba, zwanego także Starszym - przy czym starszeństwo oznacza tu kolejność włączenia do grona Apostołów), był
synem Kleofasa i Marii (Mk 15, 40), rodzonym
bratem św. Judy Tadeusza, krewnym Jezusa.
Jakub zostawił list do wiernych Kościoła narodowości żydowskiej. Napisał go w latach 45-49. List
był pisany pięknym językiem greckim, co wskazuje, że św. Jakub go dyktował, a pisał doskonały
stylista.
O śmierci św. Jakuba Apostoła pisze Józef Flawiusz, współczesny mu historyk żydowski:
Jakub już za życia doznawał wielkiej czci i to nie tylko wśród wyznawców Chrystusa, ale również wśród Żydów.
W ikonografii św. Jakub przedstawiany jest w tunice i płaszczu, z
mieczem oraz z księgą. Czasami jako biskup rytu wschodniego.
Jego atrybutami są także: halabarda, kamienie, korona w rękach,
torba podróżna, zwój.
