To familiarise students with patient preparation and nursing procedures in various kinds
of anaesthesia.
To familiarise students with the techniques and principles of various circulatory and
respiratory resuscitation stages in in-patient conditions.
To familiarise students with the methods of identifying sudden health hazards and
measures taken in life-threatening conditions.
To develop the ability to promptly and accurately assess the patient’s state of health in
the event of direct life threats, and undertaking life-saving measures.
To enable students to efficiently diagnose, develop plans, solve and keep records of
health and nursing problems in the course of intensive care therapies.
To use the knowledge and procedure, diagnostic and nursing skills acquired with a view
to modifying the procedure conduction techniques as part of the actual nursing practice.
Entrance requirements in terms of knowledge, skills and other qualifications
The efficient use of the knowledge of anatomy, physiology and basic nursing, as well as internal, surgical
and neurological nursing.

Is familiar with the methods, techniques and tools for assessing the consciousness
status, and the principles of dealing with and preventing the negative consequences of
unconsciousness.
Has the knowledge of, and is able to properly distinguish, the pathomechanisms and
clinical images, along with diagnostic, treatment and nursing procedures in severe
respiratory, circulatory and kidney failure.
Distinguishes, justifies and is familiar with the techniques, principles and duties of a
resuscitation team at various circulatory and respiratory-resuscitation stages. Is able to
identify post-resuscitation complications and to conduct the appropriate intensive
diagnostic, pharmacological and nursing therapies.
Is able to distinguish clinical images, being familiar with the standards and procedures
of dealing with exogenous and endogenous intoxication.
