FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
22-24 October 2015
Krakow
Institute of Geography and Spatial Management, Jagiellonian University
On behalf of the Organizing Committee we have the honour to invite you to the
FOURTH
CONFERENCE
OF
YOUNG
RESEARCHERS
dedicated
to
interdisciplinarity of geographical research, which will be held from 22 to 24 October 2015
at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Jagiellonian University.
It will be the fourth edition of this event which annually provides the community
of young scholars undertaking geographical research with an opportunity to meet. This
year, in connection with the extension of the conference scientific committee to include
foreign members, as well as growing interest in the conference, a session to be held in the
English language has also been planned.
The main objective of this year's conference is to present the latest research
results of young geographers (doctors, postgraduates, students), with particular
emphasis on interdisciplinarity of the issues undertaken. The conference provides an
opportunity to present and discuss their findings among specialists in the fields of,
among others, geoecology, meteorology and climatology, hydrology, geomorphology,
environmental protection and management, ecology and landscape architecture, regional
development, tourism geography, geography of religion, geography of cities, population
and agriculture, geoinformatics and teaching geography. A major advantage of the
conference is also the possibility to publish one's findings in the regularly issued and
reviewed conference proceedings, or in the Prace Geograficzne [Geographical Works]
journal (6 points on the list of Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
Plenary sessions, thematic sessions (including physical geography, socioeconomic geography, teaching geography, geoinformatics), a dendrochronology
workshop, a contest with prizes for the best poster of physical geography and socioeconomic geography, a field trip to the Pieniny Mts., and a social event connected with
the exploration of the Historical Museum of Krakow - the Market Vaults) will be held
during the conference.
