The Paul W. and Rose Suchovsky Memorial Scholarship was recently established
through the generosity of Mr. Edward Todd, SJHS Class of 1954, and his wishes to
honor the memory of his mother and stepfather.
This scholarship assists SJHS
graduating seniors who wish to pursue a college degree in the field of Business. Paul
and Rose Suchovsky were business people and entrepreneurs who appreciated the
important role business plays in providing opportunities for people and building
communities.
It is Mr. Todd’s intention that after the first year, five scholarships be presented each
year to graduating seniors and one to a second year recipient. The scholarships are
administered by the St. Joseph Public School Foundation. A scholarship committee of
the SJPSF established the following criteria for the award: the student must be a SJHS
graduating senior, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, declare his/her
intention to major in an academic career path in business and plan to enroll as a full-time
student at an accredited college or university. This committee was then, responsible to
selecting the recipients.

The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation was established in 1996 by a group of citizens
to ensure that the quality of education for students is maintained at a high standard.
Independent of the school district, this group of volunteers is committed to securing and
delivering the needed support for maintaining, expanding and enhancing educational
opportunities for the district’s children and, thus, improving the future of the
community.
