Katedra św. Jana Chrzciciela Katedra św. Jana Chrzciciela stanęła na miejscu świątyni pochodzącej z ok. X wieku, a jej budowa trwała niemal do końca XV wieku. W czasie oblężenia miasta od lutego do maja 1945 r. katedra uległa w ¾ zniszczeniu, a prace nad przywróceniem jej dawnego wyglądu trwają do dziś. Cathedral of St. John the Baptist The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist was built in place of an old temple from ca. 10th century. The construction lasted nearly to the end of the 15th century. Renaissance and Baroque elements like altars and chapels (the Chapel of the Sacred Sacrament, the Electoral Chapel) were added later. The Neo-Gothic pinnacles, destroyed in a fire in 1759, were reconstructed by 1922. The cathedral was ¾ destroyed during the siege of the town, lasting from February to May, 1945; reconstruction works aimed at bringing it back to the original form last to this day. Prace renowacyjne trwają do dziś. Hl. Church of St. Mary Magdalene The Church of St. Mary Magdalene at Szewska Street (east of the Town Square) had existed before the Mongol invasion. It attained its final form between the 14th and the 15th century, as new fragments were added sequentially. A Romanesque portal from a pulled down abbey in Ołbin was embedded into the southern wall of the church in 1546. Other singularities of this church included a bridge, which connected the two towers, and the Bell of the Convicts, cast in 1386. The building was destroyed in 1945; the renovation continues to this day. Świdnicka Cellar Świdnicka Cellar in the basement of the Town Hall was mentioned in documents dating from the early 14th century, and was the oldest beer cellar in Wrocław. The name is derived form the town of Świdnica, where the beer served in the cellar was brewed. The guests had to be properly dressed, and the code of conduct was described in a written statute. For a small fee, one could purchase a certificate of visit to the cellar. The certificates were dated and contained the amount of beer the visitors had drunk. Dzięki funduszom właścicieli cukrowni – braci A. i G. Liebichów – w latach 1866–1867 zbudowano tu według projektu K. Schmidta kompleks budynków w stylu klasycystycznym, mieszczących m.in. restaurację, kolumnadę, a także wieżę widokową, zniszczoną w czasie walk w 1945 r.
