The two prime objectives
of the museum are to
present the art of the last
two decades in the context
of the post-war Avantgarde and Conceptual Art,
and to provide the
rationale
for
artistic
creation by pointing out
the cognitive and ethical
values of art, as well as its
connections with everyday
life.
It was square that the
Jewish
citizens
were
gathered before being
transported to concentration camps. Monument 33 chairs made of cast iron
and bronze and 37
wooden ones. They are
meant as a memento of
the tragic fate of the
Jewish citizens, who left
behind only empty pieces
of furniture.

’s Factory
Schindler
The
Schindler’s
Factory
Museum is one of Krakow most
popular museums, located not
far from the boundaries of the
former Jewish ghetto. There
was a factory “Emalia” in which
many Jews worked and,
because of that, survived the
Holocaust. The place was the
setting of Steven Spielberg’s
famous lm Schindler’s List.

Manggha
This is the oldest
synagogue to have
survived in Poland
and one of the most
precious landmarks of
Jewish architecture in
Europe. Now is a
branch of the Historical Museum of the
City of Krakow.
Is an unusual monument
of defense architecture.
It was built at the end of
15th century.
Collegium Novum
The Wolnica Square
include the former
Town Hall, where
the Ethnographic
Museum is located
nowadays, showing
exhibits of Polish as
well as European
and world folklore.

The Manggha Centre of
Japanese Culture and Technology. Since its creation it has
combined the functions of a
museum and that of an active
cultural centre. Founded in 1994
by Andrzej Wajda, lm director,
Oscar winner and his wife
Krystyna Zachwatowicz.
Nowadays Manggha is a
European centre of the Far East.
It houses one of the most
extensive in Europe Japanese art
collections.

quarter, favoured by
prominent gures of
science and culture, for
example a painter

GONDOLA

KoSciuszko’s Mound
It was raised between 1820 and
1823 by the citizens of Krakow
to
commemorate Tadeusz
Kościuszko, the national hero of
Poland (military engineer and a
military leader). Mound itself is
34.1 meters high.
