LITURGY OF THE DAY
On this final Sunday of the Easter
season, we celebrate what some have
called the “birthday of the church.” Let
us pray today that the promise of the
church on the day of its birth may
continue to be realized through God’s
grace in us as we attend to the movement
of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
In the first reading, filled with the Holy Spirit, the
Apostles speak to the crowd. Those present hear the
message in their native tongue. In the second
reading, Paul explains that it is through the Holy
Spirit that one can profess Jesus as Lord and receive
gifts. In the Gospel, Jesus appears to the disciples.
He breathes on them saying, Receive the Holy Spirit.

TAJETAJEMNICA PIĘĆDZIESIĄTNICY
W dniu Pięćdziesiątnicy Apostołowie razem
z Maryją zgromadzili się w Wieczerniku. Nagle
usłyszeli szum z nieba, a cały dom został
wypełniony przez coś w rodzaju wichru. Zobaczyli
też ogień - symbol obecności i potęgi Boga - którego
języki rozdzieliły się i nad każdym z uczniów
zatrzymał się jeden. Wszyscy poczuli w sobie
szczególną moc i ogromną potrzebę przepowiadania
Ewangelii innym ludziom. Zrozumieli, że w tej
właśnie chwili spełniła się obietnica Mistrza o
"innym Pocieszycielu". Zostali napełnieni Duchem
Świętym.
Od tamtego dnia Duch Święty
mieszka w Kościele i troszczy się o niego, hojnie
udzielając swoich darów. Odtąd każdy człowiek,
przyjmując chrzest i inne sakramenty, zostaje
napełniony Duchem Świętym i przez Niego
obdarowany. Staje się członkiem Kościoła - dzięki
otrzymanym darom - wyjątkowym, niezastąpionym
w swojej funkcji, ubogacającym wspólnotę.
Lista darów Ducha nie jest zamknięta. Około
II wieku w Kościele upowszechniła się nauka o
siedmiu darach Ducha Świętego. Przychodząc do
człowieka, Duch Święty napełnia go, wręcz
przepełnia swoją mocą, obdarowuje w sposób
nieograniczony. Liczba siedem w języku biblijnym
oznacza pełnię - siedem darów zatem wyraża w
sposób symboliczny pełnię darów Ducha. Siedem
darów Ducha Świętego to "nadprzyrodzone
dyspozycje, uzdalniające człowieka do doskonałego
podążania za natchnieniami Ducha i do wypełniania
Jego wymagań".
Duch Święty udziela swoich darów komu
chce, kiedy chce i jak chce. Na dar nie można
zasłużyć. Jest on - jak sama nazwa wskazuje darmowy. Z miłości udzielony, powinien też w
duchu miłości być wykorzystywany. Tylko wtedy
obdarowany charyzmatem chrześcijanin będzie nim
naprawdę dobrze służyć wspólnocie.
