SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE PHILIPPINES
This weekend, Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17th
our second collection is for - relief for the Philippines from the
devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan. Catholic Relief Services are looking for financial support for the long-term humanitarian efforts.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for the hundreds of
thousands who have been impacted by this disaster and for the
thousands who have lost their lives.
Stewardship Note: “All that you see here - the days will come
when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will
not be thrown down.” (Luke 21:6) Thanks to the effort of a
billion-dollar advertising industry, our material expectations
continue to rise year after year. Yet, today, speaking about the
end of time, Jesus reminds us that all the material possessions
we spend our time and energy to accumulate will become nothing but rubble in the end. What will really matter will be the
time we spend on improving our relationship with God.

NOT WATCHING FOR THE SECOND COMING
As we near the end of the Church year, the scriptures become more urgent. Both the prophet Malachi and Jesus in the Gospel according to Luke
offer graphic pictures of a terrible future. But we
are missing the message if we use these passages
to speculate about when the world will end. The
troubles predicted have already occurred, and then some. In the
last century alone we have seen devastation beyond anything the
ancient prophets could have imagined.
We weren’t given these passages to strike fear in our hearts,
but faith. The sun of justice will rise, Malachi assures us, for
those who are faithful. And Jesus promises, “By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” But it is Paul who brings the
message down to earth. The Thessalonians were so sure that the
end of the world was upon them, some of them had stopped
working! Paul states his case clearly: “If anyone was unwilling
to work, neither should that one eat.” We are not called to worry
about how things will end, but to live today faithfully.
The second collection this week is for
the people of the Philippines.
Next week’s second collection is designated
for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
YOUTH GROUP MASS
We welcome the members of the Youth Group to the 4:00pm
Mass on Sat., Nov. 16th to join us in the Liturgy. The members
will be treated to a Taco night dinner at the Youth center after
Mass.
STEWARDSHIP
The month of November is observed across the United States
as Stewardship Month. There are various diocesan and parish
meetings and seminars to focus on our faith development,
support of the Church and serving our brothers and sisters.
Every year there is a national convention for stewardship. This
year the convention was organized in the Wichita, Kansas
Diocese. All the dioceses’ and parishes were invited to
participate. Since the cost was several thousands of dollars per
person including travel and accommodations—we could not
afford this. Therefore, this weekend we welcome Kyle and
Theresa Haggerty, parishioners of St. Joseph Parish, Charlton,
MA to share with us their experience of the convention. We are
grateful for their gift of time to our Basilica community.

NOVENA AND DEVOTIONS TO ST. JOSEPH
Please join us on Wednesday November 20th at 7pm for our
continuing Novena and Devotions to our patron, St. Joseph.
This week members of St. Anne Society will process with the
statue of St. Joseph from the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa to the Sanctuary. Prayer request forms are available in
the chapel. The 7pm Mass is for the intentions placed in the
petition box—designate if you prefer silent or vocal remembrance. We are grateful for your offerings and encourage you
to share your personal faith in the power of prayer especially
through the intercession of St. Joseph.
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING
The solemnity of Christ the King, which closes the liturgical
year will be celebrated next Sunday, November 24th after the
11:00am Mass with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. It is
an opportunity for all the faithful of St. Joseph Basilica to participate in the Eucharistic adoration from 12 noon to 3:00pm
followed by devotional service
We request the organizations and parish ministries to come
as a group at the following times: Parish Council/Knights of
Columbus 12:30–1:00pm; Sacred Heart Society 1:00-1:30pm;
Holy Rosary Sodality 1:30-2:00pm; St. Anne Society/St. Joseph
Polish Women’s Club 2:00-2:30pm; Eucharistic Ministers/
Children of Mary 2:30-3:00pm. All parishioners are invited to
adoration and conclusion of adoration at 3:00pm with the praying of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

CARA Agency conducted a national survey on details of the
general population. According to the study 58% were nonHispanic white; 34% Hispanic/ Latino; 3% Black /African
American; 3% Asian; 1% American Indian/Alaskan Native.

The population data is:
White (non-Hispanic) - 196,817,552-Catholics 42,512,591Black African-American 38,929,319-Catholics 2,919,699 Hispanic, Latino 50,477,594—Catholics 29,731,302
The study shows that significant changes in American parishes in the last 10 years the percentage of parishioners who are
non-Hispanic white declined by 1.5percentage points during
this five year period in parishes nationally. The parishioner
diversity index is 33 percent or higher.
This is an important finding which calls for pastoral adjustments.

PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND
We are still accepting applications for the 125th Jubilee Pilgrimage to Poland scheduled for June 24 - July 5, 2014. This is
an occasion to enjoy the many attractions of the country and
visit several Shrines, especially Our Lady of Czestochowa one
of the largest in Europe. Flyers are available at entrances to the
Basilica.
SCHOOL NOTES
Annual St. Joseph School trip to Lasallette Shrine in Attleboro has been set for Friday Dec. 6th.
A special Thanksgiving Prayer Service, coordinated by Sr.
Maryann, will be held on Monday, Nov. 25 at 8:30am in the
school. The service will involve all students and teachers and
food for local needy families will be collected.
Annual Thanksgiving school banquet will take place in the
St. Joseph School cafeteria at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, Nov.
26th. The event is free of charge to all attendees and is being
sponsored again this year by Msgr. Czarnecki. The special
“feast” is for all students, faculty, staff, rectory personnel as
well as several distinguished guests such as senator Richard
Moore. Turkey and all the fixings will be served by male members of St. Joseph School faculty and staff.
The Annual Tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Dec.
7th after 4:00pm Mass. Hot chocolate and pastry will be served
after the ceremony, which is being coordinated by HSA.
DONATIONS
St. Joseph Basilica - we are thankful for a donation of
$1,000 from a parishioner, who requests anonymity, toward the
purchase of our 2014 hymnals.

Fundraiser for the Nguyen Family - St. Roch Parish is

Nguyen family at this difficult time. Anthony is two years old
and has had three liver transplants and many procedures over
the last months. There will be kids games, face painting, raffles

"Śpiewajcie Panu przy wtórze cytry, przy wtórze cytry i przy dźwięku
harfy." (Ps 98, 5)
Sceny i znaki, przedstawione przez Jezusa,
zostały od razu zrozumniane jako zapowiedź
końca świata, albowiem bez Świątyni
jerozolimskiej, Żydzi nie wyobrażali sobie
życia. Byli z niej dumni, uważali ją za dom
Boży i za gwarancję Bożego błogosławieństwa.
Bład polegał na tym, że w którymś momencie
uznali, że Świątynia sama przez się ma im zapewnić poczucie
bezpieczeństwa, że nie wiara i zaufanie do Boga, lecz sam fakt
istnienia Świątyni, jest najważniejszy.
Na tym polegał tragizm Żydów, i nie tylko ich, że środek
uznali za cel, że symbol pomylili z tym, co ma on
symbolizować. Ostatecznie więc ufność pokładali nie w samym
Bogu, lecz w dziele swoich rąk, które z Bogiem utożsamili.
Tymczasem tylko żywa, autentyczna wiara daje człowiekowi
przystęp do Boga i gwarancję Jego opieki. Bez wiary, ani
Świątynia, ani kościoły, ani obrazy święte, ani nawet modlitwa
i sakramenty, nie mają zbawczego znaczenia. Trzeba o tym
pamiętać, by nie wpaść w pułapkę formalizmu lub „magizmu”
religijnego.
Druga kolekta dzisiejszej niedzieli jest przeznaczona
na pomoc ofiarom huraganu na Filipinach.
Druga kolekta w przyszła niedzielę będzie przeznaczona
na Catholic Campain for Human Development.
STEWARDSHIP
Miesiąc listopad w Stanach Zjednoczonych, jest miesiącem
Stewardship. W tym czasie organizowane są różnorodne
diecezjalne i parafialne spotkania oraz seminaria, które mają
pomóc wiernym w skoncentrowaniu się na rozwoju naszej
wiary, wsparciu Kościoła i służbie naszym braciom i siostrom.
Co roku odbywa się również konwencja krajowa poświęcona
dóbr, które powierzył nam Bóg. W tym roku zjazd odbył się w
diecezji Wichita w Kansas. Wszystkie diecezje i parafie zostały
zaproszone do udziału. Ponieważ jednak koszt wyjazdu wynosił
kilka tysięcy dolarów na osobę, nie mogliśmy sobie na to
pozwolić. Dlatego też, w niedzielę zapraszamy Kyle i Theresa
Haggerty, parafian z parafii św. Józefa Charlton, aby podzielili
się z nami swoimi doświadczeniami z konwencji. Jesteśmy
wdzięczni za poświęcony dla nas czas.
KSIĘGA JUBILEUSZOWA
Dobiega końca czas zbierania zamówień na Księgę
Jubileuszową! Formularze zamówienia są przy wejściach do
bazyliki. Termin składania zamówień został przedłużony do
dzisiejszej niedzieli włącznie. Po wydrukowaniu Księgi jeden
egzemplarz będzie kosztował 40 dolarów. Opłaty za
zamówioną Księgę, prosimy składać na plebanii. Lista nazwisk
osób, które złożyły zamówienie jest umieszczona przy

Przez ponad 40 lat ,Catholic Campaign for Human
Development wspomaga w całym kraju organizacje zajmujące
się wyeliminowaniem ubóstwa w Ameryce. Tegoroczny temat:
" Obronić Godność Ludzką - Usunąć ubóstwo z mapy " skupia
uwagę na tym krytycznym wyzwaniu ogólnonarodowej
kampanii. Prosimy o wsparcie wysiłków podejmowanych przez
CCHD w celu przerwania kręgu ubóstwa. W naszej diecezji
specjalna zbiórka na ten cel odbędzie się 23 i 24 listopada. 25%
z zebranych środków pozostaje w naszej diecezji dla wsparcia
potrzebujących w naszym otoczeniu.
NASZ PAN JEZUS CHRYSTUS, KRÓL
Uroczystość Chrystusa Króla Wszechświata, która zamyka
Rok Liturgiczny, będziemy obchodzili w tym roku w najbliższą
niedzielę , 24 listopada. Po Mszy św. o godz. 11:00 odbędzie
się uroczyste wystawienie Najświętszego Sakramentu. Jest to
okazja dla wszystkich wiernych Bazyliki Świętego Józefa do
adoracji eucharystycznej od 12:00 do 15:00. Prosimy
organizacje parafialne o uczestnictwo grupowe w

UROCZYSTE NIESZPORY
NA ZAKOŃCZENIE ROKU WIARY

Nieszporom na zakończenie Roku Wiary. Jest to okazja dla
wszystkich wiernych do udziału w modlitwie w jedności z

SPOTKANIA
Komitet Festiwalowy spotyka się w poniedziałek, 18
listopada o godz. 19:00 w kafeterii. Przewodniczący Komitetu,
Jen Herbst, zaprasza członków komisji, rodziców oraz parafian,
w celu omówienia różnorodnych kwestii dotyczących
organizacji czerwcowego festiwalu, m.in. zmiany lokalizacji i
nowych pomysłów.

Nowenny i nabożeństwa do naszego patrona, św. Józefa. W
tym tygodniu w procesji z figurą św. Józefa idą członkowie St.
Ann Society. Specjalne karteczki, na których można wpisywać
intencje modlitw za wstawiennictwem św. Józefa, znajdują się
w kaplicy Matki Bożej. Msza św. połączona z Nowenną jest
odprawiana w tych intencjach. Jesteśmy wdzięczni za ofiary i
zachęcamy do dzielenia się swoją osobistą wiarą w moc
modlitwy, zwłaszcza za wstawiennictwem św. Józefa.
SIOSTRY FELICJANKI
Zapraszam do udziału w przedświątecznym Jarmarku
Bożonarodzeniowym, organizowanym prze Siostry Felicjanki
w sobotę 23 listopada w godz. od 9:00 do 16:00. Będzie można
spróbować szczęścia w grach losowych, zakupić ręcznie
wykonane pamiątki, oraz domowe wypieki, a także zagrać w
TURKEY BINGO między 13:00-15:00. Dochód będzie
przeznaczony na wsparcie starszych i chorych Sióstr
Felicjanek.
WIADOMOŚCI SZKOLNE
Doroczna wycieczka szkolna wycieczka do sanktuarium św.
Józefa w Lasallette odbędzie się w piątek 6 grudnia.
Specjalne spotkanie modlitewne z okazji Święta
Dziękczynienia, pod przewodnictwem siostry Maryann,
odbędzie się w poniedziałek, 25 listopada o godz. 08:30 w
szkole. W spotkaniu będą uczestniczyli wszyscy uczniowie i
nauczyciele. Tego dnia odbędzie się również zbiórka żywności
dla potrzebujących rodzin w okolicy.
Tradycyjny obiad dla uczniów z okazji Święta
Dziękczynienia odbędzie się w stołówce szkolnej we wtorek,
26 listopada. Zaproszeni są wszyscy uczniowie, nauczyciele
oraz pracownicy szkoły i plebanii, a także kilka znamienitych
gości, a pośród nich senator Richard Moore.
Już 7 grudnia po Mszy św. o godz. 16:00 zapraszamy na
coroczna uroczystość poświęcenia i zapalenia świateł na
świątecznej choince przed bazyliką. Gorąca czekolada i ciasto
będą serwowane po ceremonii w szkole. Serdecznie
zapraszamy.
RELIGIA
Zajęcia katechetyczne odbywają się jak zwykle w
poniedziałek. Najbliższe spotkanie 18 listopada.

8:30 na plebanii.
