ABOUT LOCATION
The garrison church of St. George is a Roman Catholic church located at 9 Św. Jerzego St. in Łódź. Originally it was an army
Orthodox church, built to commemorate the 37th Yekaterinburg Infantry Regiment, which stationed in Łódź from 1863, and
the 100th anniversary of regiment's establishment, which was celebrated in 1896. The Orthodox church was consecrated on
27 November 1896. The building comprised two parts – the church built on a square plan (currently the chancel) and a
manège (currently the nave). The church was converted into a Roman Catholic church after regaining independence in 1918.
In the church, there is a painting of Our Lady Hetman of the Polish Soldier, which is a copy of the painting from Jasna Góra
whose author is unknown. The painting has probably been in the church since 1920.
