ABOUT LOCATION
Ostrów Tumski is the oldest, historic part of Wrocław, created in the area of Odra river crossings, between the estuaries of
Oława in the south, and Ślęża and Widawa in the north. During the Second World War, Ostrów Tumski was severely damaged.
The best-preserved building was the Church of the Holy Cross. Some of the buildings, for example houses in the northern part
of Katedralna Street, were renovated only in the late 1970s. The construction design was carried out by Edmund Małachowicz.
In the southern part, only the Church of St. Martin has survived. The other elements of the palace complex were too damaged
to be renovated. Their demolition exposed the remains of the castle walls.
