Benefit Banquet and Silent Auction
To date there is a very slow response
from our parishioners, alumni, parents of
the school children and friends of St. Mary of Czestochowa School in support of the Banquet and Silent Auction planned for the benefit of our parish school! Our
principal, Mr. Al Theis is working very hard to make this
event a success; however, he cannot accomplish this
goal without the support of everyone who cares about
our school! We have received some very fine donations
of prizes for the Silent Auction. Our very own music director, Mr. Witold Socha, and his accomplished violinist
friend, Mr. Bogdan Tomalski, will provide the music for
the evening! There are just nine days left before a count
must be given for the food and place settings! The date
has been set for Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Skylite
West Banquet Hall located at 7117 West Ogden Ave.,
Berwyn, IL. This evening is being planned to honor the
legacy of Bishop Aloysius Wycislo who graduated from
our school and whose Coat of Arms is painted on the
north wall of our church, but most importantly it is a
benefit for the development and financial health of our
parish school. Tickets are selling for $55 per person
(Cash bar) and are available for purchase after all
Masses this weekend. Tickets can also be purchased in
the school office during school hours – 9:00am to
2:30pm or they can be reserved for pick-up at another
time by calling the school office at (708) 656-5010.
Checks should be written to St. Mary of Czestochowa
School. We hope to meet many of our former graduates,
parents, parishioners and friends at our celebration.
Bishop Morneau of Green Bay Wisconsin will be the
keynote speaker for the evening. Let’s show him how
proud we are of our school!
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
The next Religious Education class
is scheduled to be held on Saturday
morning, October 7, 2006. Classes
begin at 8:00am and dismissal is at
10:00am.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes
place in our parish church every Wednesday
from 8:30am until 7pm. If you would like to
sign-up for a specific time to worship before
the Blessed Sacrament during the time of
exposition, you are invited to sign your name
on the board that is located in the vestibule of our church
for this purpose.

Effective immediately: Please clip and
save only the UPC Code from all Campbell’s food Products for our school!. We no
longer need the front label as in the past. If you have any
labels saved at home, please drop them in the box provided in the vestibule of the church (south side) by October 15, 2006. (However, always continue to save all
Campbell’s Product UPC CODES even after October
15TH for us.) The school is also collecting the “Box Tops
for Education” coupons found on all General Mills Cereal
boxes as well as on many refrigerated food items and
cake mix boxes! Look over any food container before
disposing of it- there may be a valuable coupon on it that
the school can use! Please cut it out and deposit all
coupons together with the Campbell’s product UPC
codes in the container provided. Our school receives
valuable educational materials from the Campbell’s Program and cash from the “Box Tops for Education Program.” Your support of our efforts is greatly appreciated!

ENGLISH SPEAKING RCIA/ADULT SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION PROGRAMS at St. Odilo

2. The candidate will work with the Pastor to assess any marriage/annulment issues that might

4. The Candidate will attend weekly Mass at his/
her own home parish.

lead by going before others with good will,
ideas, attitudes, and visionary actions. Simple
techniques to boost confidence and push forward in in new transition will be taught. All are

Mark 9:30-37. In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks often about His coming
passion. His disciples, for their part,
ignore these predictions. Instead, they
argue among themselves about what
share in Jesus’ royal power and glory
will be given them. Jesus’ response to the disciples’ arrogance is not one of anger or frustration. What He does is
remarkable-He hugs a little child and tells His disciples,
and us, that whoever welcomes a little child welcomes
HIM. That is who is greatest in Jesus’ kingdom!

On Sunday afternoon, September 17, St. Terrance Parish
in Alsip will host “Download Jesus,” a back-to-school Youth
Rally for high-school students from parishes across the
Archdiocese of Chicago.
“The key message of the rally is how young people can
download Jesus, or make Him more a part of their everyday lives. We will deliver this via liturgy, music, singing and
story-telling by Steve Angrisano, a former youth director
whose performances really get the kids involved,” said
Maria Perez-Eraci, Vicariate 5 Youth Ministry Coordinator.
Check–in and registration will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30
p.m., during which a liturgical choir of musicians and singers from across the Archdiocese will present a kaleidoscope of sacred sounds. After a 1:30 p.m. welcoming
prayer, Angrisano will perform his first of three sets; his
second will include a back-up band comprised of St.
Terrance choir and band members. Chicago’s St. Elizabeth’s parish Youth Ministry will also lead a dramatic scripture interpretation.
Mass will be celebrated at 5:00 by Bishop Gustavo GarciaSiller whose homily will reflect the Download Jesus theme
for students to become more involved in their parishes,
schools and communities using their God-given talents.
Admission to the rally is $10; a pizza dinner is included.

Ministry Weekends are retreats designed to help men discern God’s
call to diocesan priesthood. Through
a weekend of prayer, discussions, presentations
on diocesan priesthood and social opportunities,

Jezus i Jego uczniowie podróżowali przez Galileę, On jednak
nie chciał, żeby kto wiedział o tym. Pouczał bowiem swoich
uczniów i mówił im: Syn Człowieczy będzie wydany w ręce
ludzi. Ci Go zabiją, lecz zabity po trzech dniach zmartwychwstanie. Oni jednak nie rozumieli tych słów, a bali się Go
pytać. Tak przyszli do Kafarnaum. Gdy był w domu, zapytał
ich: O czym to rozprawialiście w drodze? Lecz oni milczeli, w
drodze bowiem posprzeczali się między sobą o to, kto z nich
jest największy. On usiadł, przywołał Dwunastu i rzekł do
nich: Jeśli kto chce być pierwszym, niech będzie ostatnim ze
wszystkich i sługą wszystkich! Potem wziął dziecko, postawił
je przed nimi i objąwszy je ramionami, rzekł do nich: Kto
przyjmuje jedno z tych dzieci w imię moje, Mnie przyjmuje; a
kto Mnie przyjmuje, nie przyjmuje Mnie, lecz Tego, który
Mnie posłał.

Wypełnianie jakiejś misji należy do samej istoty
aniołów. „Anioł” to z greckiego po prostu
„posłany”. Katechizm wyjaśnia, że aniołowie są
istotami duchowymi, nie posiadającymi ciała,
powoływanymi przez Boga do spełniania zadań
specjalnych.
Św. Gabriel Archanioł
Imię Gabriel znaczy: „Mąż Boży” lub „Bóg jest
mocą”. To imię najczęściej kojarzy się nam z
wcieleniem Słowa Bożego, kiedy to Archanioł
Gabriel przybył do Maryi, aby Jej ogłosić, iż zostanie Matką Syna Bożego. Wcześniej przybył do
Zachariasza zapowiedzieć Jana, który będzie
przygotowywał drogę Jezusowi, Odkupicielowi
świata.
Św. Rafał Archanioł
Imię Rafał oznacza "Bóg uzdrawia". O Archaniele
Rafale opowiada Pismo św. w Księdze Tobiasza.
Rafał był przewodnikiem młodego Tobiasza w
czasie podróży do Raga, miasta w kraju Medów.
Anioł pomógł Tobiaszowi poślubić Sarę, córkę
Raguela i odpędził rządzącego nią demona. Rafał
również uleczył ojca Tobiasza ze ślepoty. W końcu wyjawił, kim jest: "Ja jestem Rafał, jeden z
siedmiu aniołów, którzy stoją w pogotowiu i
wchodzą przed majestat Pański".
Święty Rafał Archanioł jest patronem podróżnych
i chorych.
Św. Michał Archanioł
Już Stary Testament wspomina go jako jednego z
najpotężniejszych duchów. Jest księciem aniołów,
obdarzonym przez Boga szczególnym zaufaniem i
kluczami do nieba. Jest zarazem aniołem sprawiedliwości i ładu, ale także aniołem łaski i zlitowania. Wstawia się za Izraelitami i jest ich aniołem,
który towarzyszy temu ludowi w nowym Testamencie pojawia się również. W liście św. Judy
walczy z szatanem o ciało Mojżesza, a w Apokalipsie św. Jana Michał prowadzi aniołów do zwycięskiego boju z szatanem.
Od pierwszych wieków chrześcijaństwa uchodzi
za księcia aniołów, archanioła, któremu Bóg powierzył zadania wymagające szczególnej siły.
Wstawia się za ludźmi u Boga, jest aniołem ludu
chrześcijańskiego, stoi przy umierających, a potem towarzyszy duszom w drodze do nieba.
Z tego to tytułu jest on patronem kaplic cmentarnych, a XII w. przedstawiany jest z wagami do
odmierzania dobrych uczynków. Poczynając od
VI w. Michał uchodzi za wodza pogromciciela
aniołów zbuntowanych, którzy stali się szatanami.
Z czasem imię św.. Michała Archanioła weszło do
modlitw mszalnych np. przy poświęceniu kadzidła
i Mszy za zmarłych.

Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić dziecko w naszej parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się na
ten kurs prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać, aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej półtora miesiąca prze chrztem.

► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt
urodzenia dziecka.

Tak jak w każdą niedzielę tak
również i dzisiaj wychodząc z
kościoła można nabyć nowy
numer Tygodnika Katolickiego
„Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam
bardzo ciekawe artykuły na
temat życia kościoła w Polsce
także naszej Archidiecezji.
Czytając ten tygodnik a także inne publikacje
np. „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina Radia
Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość
do Boga i Kościoła
