Tasks
The Velocity Suite team is seeking a highly motivated
Database Developer Lead to participate with the design and
development of code within either Oracle (PL/SQL) and/or

SQL Server(T-SQL) RDBMS platforms to directly support a
complex .NET-based customer application. This individual will
work in a team of talented engineers responsible for the full
lifecycle of production software applications – including large
data volumes and database-based systems. Optimizing our
database schemas, writing stored procedures and direct
manipulation of databases will be a primary function of this
position.
The role is accountable for the following activities:
• Lead data developers team;
• Proactive cooperation with functional managers and
stakeholders;
• Design, develop, and maintain software (SQL based
procedures) that drives our back end systems;
• Provide unit tests for database code and/or applications;
• Participate in multi-disciplinary projects;
• Contribute to our team’s growing set of development
platforms, tools, and processes especially within the area of
Business Intelligence for future projects;
• Serve as a technical lead on data services related projects.
Requirements
• 4+ years of related professional experience including 3+
years in data warehousing development in large reporting
environment(s);
• Designing database schemes that perform well in complex
web-based user interfaces;
• Directly manipulating database contents from PL/SQL,
T-SQL and/or Java code (including streaming of data into the
database and extracting for use in reporting user interfaces);
• Creating, maintaining and defining ETL specifications and
troubleshoot data movement and transformation challenges;
• Visualizing and architecting automated end-to-end data
integration flows;
• Programing and tune database functions, SQL queries
(Oracle and/or SQL Server experience preferred), stored
procedures and triggers, etc.;
• Knowledge of either Unix shell scripting or Microsoft
Powershell is a plus;
• Optimizing database applications;
• ETL, data warehouses, data marts, and data cubes is a plus;
• Prior work with highly scalable systems is desired;
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus;
• Assisting with review and offer suggestions for
enhancements to existing, and development of future, data
models from an ETL impact / assessment perspective.
