ETNA
It's not always possible to visit the crater in absolute safety, and in certain periods mountain guides
are prohibited from leading parties up to the rim of the crater. Naturally, as on any other mountain
in the world, individuals are free to go where they please, at their own risk, but great care should
always be taken. A good state of physical fitness, suitable clothing and footwear, and above all the
company of a more experienced person can help to reduce the risks to a minimum, these consisting
mainly of sudden lava blowouts or disorientation in bad weather or other conditions of low visibility.
However, once the crater rim is reached, a spectacle is guaranteed, with on one side a vast panorama
of the surrounding region, and on the other the vision of the fiery bowels of the earth in the three
craters that make up the current summit of the volcano.

ANIMALS UNIQUE TO CANADA
Killer whales
These mammals have a very distinctive Black and white coloration. The whales make up some of
the most complex animal communities and always travel in groups called pods, with five to thirty
animals in each pod. 1 ___ Over its lifetime, the group will never separate and a female will always
act as the leader of the group. Female killer whales usually give birth every three to ten years. They
can live for about fifty to eighty years, have no natural predators, and are not considered endangered.
Black and rare white bears
Along the coast of British Columbia lives a population of about 150,000 black bears. Female black
bears usually give birth to two or three cubs at a time. The cubs remain with their mothers for a year
and a half, so the most often that female black bears produce young is every two years. 2___
Except for females with cubs, black bears spend most of their time alone. Their longevity in their
natural environment is twenty to twenty-five years. The Canadian Government realizes that these
animals are so special, so some steps have been taken to protect them. There is a law that prevents
people from hunting the bears.
Canada geese
Canada geese can be seen and heard in many areas of British Columbia. 3___Their lifespan is quite
long, ranging from twenty to thirty years. Females are known to reproduce up to the age of twenty,
laying four to seven eggs each spring. Canada geese have very strong family relations. In fact, both
parents tend to their young for nearly a year. Because Canada geese are a national symbol, it is
illegal to harm them in any way. 4 ___. For example, in Vancouver, it is not uncommon to see a
family of Canada geese walking around on a road.
