FINE ARTS JR. HIGH WORKSHOP AT RESURRECTION
“DARE TO BE DIFFERENT”
Junior high girls (grades 5-8) are invited to attend the Resurrection
College Prep High School Fine Arts Junior High Workshop
on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The
theme for the program is “Dare To Be Different.” Girls can experience Resurrection College Prep’s Fine Arts Program in action
and will be able to participate in workshops featuring art, dance,
drama and music (vocal). Students need no background in the
arts to join in this evening of educational fun.

You are invited to the installation ceremony
of Fr. Marek Janowski, SJ, as pastor of
St. Ladislaus Parish.
The ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 6th, at
the Noon Mass. (Please Note: There will not be a 1:30 p.m.
Mass on this date.) Bishop John R. Manz, Auxiliary Bishop
of the Archdiocese of Chicago will preside at the ceremonies.
A reception will be held in the parish hall (basement of
church) immediately following the ceremony.
Eucharistic Adoration
“There is also one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as ransom for all.”
We often take for granted Who dwells among us, and
Whom we may visit at most any time. Visit Him in
Eucharistic Adoration.
Eucharistic Adoration takes place in our parish every
Tuesday —beginning after the 8:15 a.m. English Mass.
Benediction is at 6:45 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Mass
in Polish. Adoration will also take place every First Friday
of the month on the same time schedule.
Chicago Area Walk for Life to Help Save Babies
The Women’s Centers of Greater Chicagoland is holding their
5K Walk for Life on Sunday, September 29th. Participants
bringing in $35 or more in pledges, $10 for students, will receive a commemorative t-shirt, pro-life balloons, lunch, snacks,
ice cream treats, and more.
Northside Walkers: Our Lady of Victory, 5212 W. Agatite in
Chicago. Registration opens at 8:30AM with optional Mass at

This weekend we celebrate Seminary Sunday in the
parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago. On this occasion,
we honor the ministry of the many priests who serve you
so faithfully each day, as well as those who are preparing
to serve you with that same charity in the future.
In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Mundelein Seminary is
a place where vocations to the diocesan priesthood are
discerned and strengthened. During this Year of Faith, we
have worked to strengthen our efforts in the New Evangelization. Pope Francis has encouraged us all to be “true
evangelizers,” “bridges” to Christ for others. This is the
call of every Christian, and each priest has a special role
in this call to evangelize as an alter Christus.
Each year, as I ordain the graduates of Mundelein
Seminary to the priesthood of Jesus Christ, I do so with
confidence that they have been formed for fidelity and
service and are well educated in the Catholic faith. The
best example of the work of the seminary is reflected in
the quiet and compassionate ministry of your pastors and
parish priests as they live out their ordination commitment
each day to bring Christ to you as they preach, teach and
administer the Sacraments. I thank them for their good
example, and I thank you for your prayers and financial
contributions, which provide our future priests with the
education and environment they need to “prepare well” to
serve God’s faithful. I ask you to pray for those whom
God is now calling to the ordained priesthood from
among our families and friends. Talk to young men you
know whom you think might be good priests; encourage
them to explore the possibility of priesthood.
I ask you to especially remember your bishops, your
parish priests and our seminarians each day in prayer.
You and your intentions are in ours. May God bless you

Almighty eternal God, source of all compassion,
the promise of your mercy and saving help fills our hearts

Empower and encourage Syria’s neighbors in their care
and welcome for refugees.
Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms,

your Holy Spirit inspires us to look beyond ourselves and

Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek

Our Youth Group is extending an invitation to our parishioners,
especially those with children, to join them next Sunday,
September 29th, at the Noon Mass. There will be a special
Children’s Liturgy of the Word for the younger members of the
congregation.
Who Will Fill These Shoes? …
How many times in your life has a priest brought healing
to you and to your families?
How many times has a priest celebrated the liturgy on
Sunday, throughout the week and at special parish and
family celebrations, bringing Christ to you through the
Eucharist?
How many times has a priest stood with you in joy at
the birth of a child, at your bedside in the hospital, or in
sorrow at the death of a loved one?
Who will fill your priest’s shoes to minister to your
children and grandchildren – the next generation of the
faithful?
Let us pray for vocations to the priesthood; that we may
have priests whose lives are directed by the Gospel of
Jesus Christ in the service of God’s people.
Let us pray that there will always be a new generation
of caring and compassionate priests who when asked
the question, “Who Will Fill These Shoes?” respond
enthusiastically, “Here I Am Lord!”

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,
W ten weekend w parafiach Archidiecezji Chicago obchodzimy Niedzielę Seminaryjną. W tym dniu oddajemy szacunek
księżom, którzy służą Wam wiernie każdego dnia, jak również
i tym, którzy dopiero przygotowują się, aby w przyszłości służyć Wam z takim samym oddaniem i miłością.
W Archidiecezji Chicago miejscem, gdzie rozeznaje się i umacnia powołania do kapłaństwa diezezjalnego, jest Seminarium
Duchowne w Mundelein. Podczas bieżącego Roku Wiary
wzmagamy nasze wysiłki nad Nową Ewangelizacją. Papież
Franciszek zachęca nas, byśmy stawali się „prawdziwymi głosicielami Ewangelii” i „pomostami” prowadzącymi innych do
Chrystusa. Jest to powołanie każdego chrześcijanina, zaś każdy
ksiądz, jako alter Christus - drugi Chrystus - ma do odegrania
specjalną rolę w tym dziele ewangelizacyjnym.
Co roku udzielając święceń kapłańskich absolwentom seminarium w Mundelein, których Chrystus powołał do swojej służby, czynię to z przeświadczeniem, iż otrzymali oni dobrą formację w zakresie wierności i posługi, oraz że mają dogłębną
znajomość wiary katolickiej. Owoce tej formacji wyniesionej z
seminarium najlepiej odzwierciedla cicha i ofiarna posługa
waszych proboszczów i księży parafialnych, gdy wypełniając
swoje kapłańskie zobowiązanie podjęte w dniu święceń niosą
wam Chrystusa każdego dnia - głosząc kazania, nauczając oraz
udzielając sakramentów. Dziękuję księżom za to, że są godnym przykładem dla innych, a Wam za modlitwy i wsparcie
finansowe, które zapewnia naszym przyszłym kapłanom odpowiednią edukację oraz atmosferę konieczną do dobrego
przygotowania się do posługi pośród wiernych. Proszę was o
modlitwy w intencji tych osób z kręgu waszej rodziny i przyjaciół, których Bóg powołuje obecnie do kapłaństwa. Inicjujcie
rozmowy z młodymi ludźmi z waszego otoczenia, którzy według was mogliby w przyszłości być dobrymi księżmi; zachęcajcie ich, aby rozważyli możliwość wstąpienia do seminarium
duchownego.
W sposób szczególny proszę, abyście każdego dnia pamiętali
w modlitwie o Waszych biskupach, księżach z Waszych parafii
oraz o naszych seminarzystach. Wy wszyscy wraz z Waszymi
intencjami jesteście obecni w naszych modlitwach. Niech Bóg
błogosławi Wam i tym, których kochacie.

23 września - Św. Ojciec Pio
Francesco Forgione – bo tak
nazywał się Ojciec Pio – pochodził z
biednej rodziny, która mieszkała we
włoskiej wiosce Pietrelcina. Urodził
się 25 maja 1887 r., a 16 lat później
wstąpił do zakonu kapucynów. W
1910 r. przyjął święcenia kapłańskie.
Większą część życia spędził w klasztorze w San Giovanni Rotondo.
Nadzwyczajna pobożność i otrzymane od Boga charyzmaty sprawiły, że już za życia uznawany
był za świętego. Pan Bóg obdarzył Ojca Pio nadnaturalnymi zdolnościami. Święty otrzymał nie tylko charyzmat
uzdrawiania, ale potrafił w nadprzyrodzony sposób poznawać sekrety ludzkich serc i czytać w myślach
przychodzących do niego ludzi, przepowiadać
przyszłość, miał również dar bilokacji – mógł być
obecny w dwóch miejscach jednocześnie.
Innym fenomenem związanym z Ojcem Pio był
cudowny zapach jaki towarzyszył mu od chwili
stygmatyzacji. Fiołkowy, różany lub kadzidlany aromat
odczuwali ludzie za życia zakonnika a także po jego
śmierci w najdalszych zakątkach ziemi. Ojciec Pio do
dziś daje odczuć swój zapach jako znak swojej
duchowej obecności i opieki. Sam nazywał tę woń
"pociechą dla dzieci".
