SHARING OUR BLESSINGS - October 16, 2011
Weekly $4282.85; Diocesan Obligations $112; Fall School
Appeal $40; Fuel $267.
I am grateful to those who support our parish with sacrificial
giving, especially in these difficult times. Please remember that
our weekly budget is $7,500 to continue our vital services to the
parish. Next week the Finance Board will review the financial
issues, including the pledge increases from the “Shared Blessings”
Program. At that time they will make serious and far reaching
recommendations. The Gym and Parish Center are being built by
people outside of the parish, but this ongoing operation is our
responsibility.
Stewardship Note. We fulfill the commandment to love our
neighbor when we exercise good stewardship–joyfully sharing our
gifts of life, abilities, and resources to meet our neighbor’s need.
Word of life. Today it is clear that the death penalty no longer
serves a useful purpose in protecting the sanctity of human life.
Perhaps once it was the only way society could protect itself from
those who would destroy the life of others, but today in most
modern nations, judicial and penal systems have improved so much
that they effectively remove further danger to innocent people by
incarcerating the perpetrators of criminal violence. Imprisonment
is effective in removing the offender from society. Importantly, it
allows time for repentance and rehabilitation. And the one sure
result of executing prisoners is to make us as a people more
vengeful-seeking retribution and satisfying our outrage at the
violent crime by more violence.
THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“You shall love the Lord God, with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your mind.”–Matthew 22:37
LIVING JUSTLY “You give that back right now!” How many of
us have heard that line, probably more than once, as we were
growing up? We come home with the trophy of what we thought
was a really sweet deal, only to have our parents undo our profits
by making us return the spoils. They had a different idea of what
constituted a “fair trade agreement.” Justice in our dealings with
others continues to be an important measure of our character, and
like a good parent, God cares very much about how we treat each
other and about how others treat us. God hears the cry of the poor,
and answers the call of the oppressed. God’s beloved children are
not to behave like bullies.
The second collection next weekend is for all remaining envelopes
in your budget packet.
CEMETERY PROCESSION
The annual cemetery procession will take place on Sunday, Oct.
30th at 2:00pm. It is a tradition that all organizations with their
banners and appropriate medals meet at the cross to pray for our
deceased loved ones. Let our presence in the procession, our
prayers and placing a light be an expression of our special
remembrance. Please contact family members and friends who
have loved ones buried at St. Joseph Garden of Peace to join us for
this day of remembrance.
ALL SOULS DAY
For all the living people in this world Christmas has spiritual and
social dimensions. On this day people participate in Divine
Worship and exchange gifts. For all the deceased people in
purgatory, All Souls Day is their Christmas. They cannot earn
merits for themselves–they totally depend on family and friends.
The existence of purgatory and temporal punishment is the core of
the Church’s teaching and fundamental principle of eternal justice
of God. It is most important that those who are temporarily in a
place preparing to enter the eternal kingdom of joy need and
deserve our attention.
Perhaps your mother or father or close family members anticipate
your help. You can provide assistance and communicate with them
through offering a Mass or perform a good deed on behalf of their
soul. The lighting of the traditional votive light is the least you can
do. There are some weekday Masses at 7:00am still available for
2011. Please call the rectory for more information.
125th JUBILEE ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION
The collection for the 125th Jubilee Anniversary Fund for
October 16th was extremely low. Many things have yet to be
completed including a heater unit for the church. Our Church and
the parish have always been the pride of our parishioners and we
are bound to keep this tradition.

and we must each determine what our talents and resources are and
use them in thanksgiving to God for all he has given us.

large gathering about the mission of stewardship and of our
responsibility as disciples of Jesus Christ to acknowledge that all
we possess is a gift from God and we are responsible to use these
gifts to the utmost of our ability and return them to God in
abundance. We are to receive God’s gifts gratefully and nurture
and share these gifts with others. We must look deep inside
ourselves and answer to: What is my gift? What makes me
happiest and most gratified? How am I nurturing and using these
gifts justly and sacrificially? Stewardship requires discipline and
sacrifice and Bishop Morneau reiterated, “if we care, we share”.

DZIE¼ ZADUSZNY dla zmar»ych w czyуcu jest jak dla nas óyjcych

Mog jedynie polegaƒ na nas, swoich krewnych i przyjacio»ach i na

Istnienie czasowej kary w czyуcu stanowi integralny element
nauczania Teologii ChrzeÑcija½skiej i jest oparte na fundamencie Boóej
sprawiedliwoÑci. Nie wiemy dok»adnie na czym polega owa kara,
wiemy jednak, óe ci którzy s w czyуcu oczyszczaj si“ z przywizania

STEWARDSHIP CONFERENCE W ubieg»y wtorek odby»a si“ juó

w óycie KoÑcio»a.
wykorzystywaniu go dla dobra innych.
Kaódy chrzeÑcijanin powinien zadaƒ sobie pytanie: Jaki jest mój dar?
Co czyni mnie bardziej szcz“Ñliwym i zadowolonym. Jak rozwijam ten
dar i czy uóywam go sprawiedliwie i z poÑwi“ceniem? Zaangaóowanie
wymaga poÑwi“cenia i samodyscypliny w myÑl zasady: „If I care I
share”.
Nasza parafia oferuje wiele moóliwoÑci zaangaóowania i wspó»pracy.
Wystarczy jedynie okreÑliƒ nasze talenty i moóliwoÑci, a nast“pnie
