Over a thousand participants of Deadline24!
The qualifying round of Deadline24, an international programming marathon
organized by Future Processing, took place on Sunday, March 1. This year’s edition has
been extremely popular. The first round attracted more than a thousand fans of
programming from all over the world who formed nearly 350 teams.
The qualifying round included the participants from Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine,
Serbia, Latvia, Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Croatia, Great
Britain, Belarus, Hungary, Nigeria, Taiwan and India. Among them there were
representatives of such companies as Google, Ericcson, Bank Zachodni WBK, Facebook,
Microsoft, Wirtualna Polska, Unity Group, InsERT, Nokia and Prezi.
On March 1, at 9:00AM (CET), the participants started the qualifying round that lasted
continuously for 5 hours. The teams of three tackled algorithmic tasks and fought for the
place in the top 30. According to Jakub Nalepa, one of the authors of the tasks:“The
optimization tasks were the most difficult”. The teams with the highest score have made it to
the finals held on April 7-8, 2015 in Contemporary Art Gallery “Elektrownia” in Czeladź,
Poland.
Most of the contestants come from Poland, including the representatives of such universities
as the University of Warsaw, Wrocław University of Technology, the Jagiellonian
University, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Lodz University of Technology. The
best 30 teams also include the employees of Google and ADB.
The finals of this year’s edition of Deadline24 marathon will be international thanks to a
large group of the contestants from outside of Poland. The countries include Belarus, Czech
Republic, Russia, Croatia, Bulgaria or Finland. They represent Charles University in Prague,
the University of Zagreb, Kaunas University of Technology, Belarusian State University as
well as numerous IT companies.
Deadline24 is organized by Future Processing that has been operating on the global software market since the
year 2000. Moreover, the company cooperates with universities in terms of development, research and
education.
