Zajęcia obejmują najważniejsze problemy paleolitu, epipaleolitu
i neolitu strefy śródziemnomorskiej, w szczególności
następujące zagadnienia: chronologia, dynamika rozwoju
lokalnych społeczności w poszczególnych częściach tego
obszaru, osadnictwo, struktura społeczna, sfera wierzeniowa,
baza surowcowa, technologia i wytwórczość kultury
materialnej. Szczególny nacisk położony zostanie na wschodnią
część Basenu Morza Śródziemnego ale dyskutowane są też
przemiany w pozostałych częściach strefy śródziemnomorskiej.
This course explores major issues of the Palaeolithic,
Epipalaeolithic and Neolithic archaeology in the Mediterranean
zone. In particular, it provides an overview of the chronology,
dynamics of development of local communities in different
parts of the region, settlement patterns, social structure, belief
system, raw material supply, technology and production of
material culture. The course will focus on the archaeology of
eastern part of the Mediterranean zone, however developments

in other regions of this zone will also be presented.
Student 1) uzyskuje wiedzę o obecnym stanie wiedzy i
kierunków badawczych w zakresie badań nad paleolitem,
epipaleolitem i neolitem obszarów śródziemnomorskich (Egipt,
Sudan, Irak, Syria, Liban, Izrael, Jordania, Turcja, Cypr, Grecja,
Włochy, płd. Francja, Hiszpania i południowe wybrzeże Morza
Śródziemnego;
2) rozumie znaczenie i mechanizmy procesów zmian
społecznych i kulturowych we wczesnych fazach kultury
człowieka w strefie śródziemnomorskiej aż po upadek
neolitycznego trybu życia; kompleksowego charakteru kultury
materialnej i sieci osadniczej na dyskutowanym obszarze;
3) opanowuje umiejętności zrozumienia stopnia
skomplikowania omawianych procesów w całym regionie oraz
wieloaspektowych relacji i zależności pomiędzy jego częściami;
4) zna podstawowe terminy, stanowiska archeologiczne oraz
chronologię epoki kamienia na omawianym obszarze;
5) rozpoznaje charakterystyczne wytwory materialnych i potrafi
rozpoznać dynamikę ich zmian.
Student: 1) will gain the basic knowledge of: the present state of
scholarly research on the Palaeolithic, Epipaleolithic and
Neolithic archaeology of the Mediterranean zone (Egypt,
Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Cyprus,
Greece, Italy, France, Spain and southern coast of the
Mediterranean sea);
2) will gain the understanding of: significance and mechanisms
of processes of social and cultural changes in the early phases of
the human past in the Mediterranean past up to the demise of
the Neolithic mode of life; complexity of material culture and
settlement pattern in the region in question;
3) will gain the skills necessary to: understand complexity of
transformations in the region and intertwined relations and
dependencies between them;
4) will gain the basic knowledge of: basic categories,
archaeological sites and chronology of the Stine Age in the
discussed territory;
5) will gain the skills necessary to: recognize characteristic
artifacts and their changes through time.
