Abstract
Women sport in the context of needs and emotions
Keywords: women's basketball, needs, emotions, personality, IMOPEKSIS
Female sport is important, cultural-creative global phenomenon. The problems of female sport
extend the borders of different countries. It is hard to imagine a modern sport, the modern
Olympic movement without the participation of women. Global sport put on psychology long
time ago. In most sport developed countries for many years insists on lot more the
development of psychosocial skills and coaching than strict technical skills. Sports rivalry of
basketball takes place in atmosphere of conflict and that is why it has a multilateral effect on
mental activities of athletes. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the game largely depends on
the level of development of the psycho-emotional, intellectual and volitional sphere of
athletes. Therefore, studying the impact of psychological factors on the process of achieving
basketball championship, characterized by specific psychological features, has triggered an
intense interest. The study of personality predisposition plays an important role in sports
activities – both in the training process and during the competition. Establishing connections
between various personality traits is particularly important when applying the principles of
individualization. In the first part of the speech will be presented personality traits assessed by
the Gouf’s test which are significantly correlated with sports effectiveness and personality
model, affecting the high performance of the game. The study included basketball Polish
Women's National Team (8 athletes), the first division (Warta Gdynia, Toruń AD – 14
athletes), and the second division (Berg Trefl Gdańsk, Unia Tczew - 18 athletes). A total of 40
basketball players were tested. In the second part we will present innovative IMOPEKSIS
method of psychosocial interactions, improving and educating of basketball team and player.
Through this method, implementation of the learned knowledge can be consistent. It is
a synthesis of the latest achievements in the field of psychology, success, business and sports
experiences and thoughts of the author.

Impact assessment indicators of body weight and physical activity on the curvature of
the spine in children and adolescents

Toruń, 6 – 8 XI 2013
Idiopathic scoliosis is defined as a lateral curvature of the spine, which angle of the curvature
calculated by Cobb method is bigger than 10 degrees, it concerns about 2-3% of children and
youth population.
The aim of testing was to find an answer whether and what mode a physical activity and
a body, fat and muscular mass index have an influence for the curvature of the spine.
42 girls and 12 boys with an ascertained curvature of the spine were examined. Among them
there were 20 person practicing sport and 34 not engaged in any kind of sport activity. The
subject tests, a measurements of a rotation in a backbones and RTG pictures were used in
order to evaluate the attitude. The examined persons were put to the two tests evaluating the
muscles contracture as well as the height measurements and body mass indicators. The body
mass index has no influence for the backbone curvature. Fatty tissue percentage and muscular
tissue act for the backbone rotation in scoliosis. A physical activity has no influence for the
backbone curvature angle. Disciplines with big quantity of torsional movements increase
backbone rotation in scoliosis. The backbone rotation degree according Cobb shows
a correlation with the vertebras rotations.

Abstract
Quo vadis judo – based on computer analysis of the judo fighting after changes of the
regulations
Keywords: judo, analysis of the fight, change of the regulations
The presentation is based on the analysis of video material recorded at the World
Championships in Judo in 2009 and 2011 and at the London Olympics held in 2012. Due to
the training experience of the authors only heavyweight fights were analysed.
Initially – as a form of pilot research (World Championships 2009 and 2011) only one
fragment of the fight which was the attack backwards (in the direction of the opponent’s back)
underwent the analysis, the results of which made the authors present the holistic image of the
fight at the next championship tournament (the London Olympics 2012).
The fights in 2009 complied with the regulations which were radically changed in 2010. Next
tournaments were held under the new regulations. The aim of the introduced changes was to
improve the quality of fighting in order to make it more offensive, and as a result of which
more “readable” and attractive till the end for an average spectator.
The main issue analysed in the fighting was the influence of regulations change on the
structure (quality) of fighting. Basic, common in evaluating every fight measurements were
used.
The whole analysis of all the heavyweight fights indicates that the aims assumed by the
authors of changes in judo regulations were not achieved whereas the process of teaching judo
techniques got poorer.
In the world of developing schools providing self defence education, development of
tournaments of non-olympic disciplines, and different types of hand-to-hand fights the role of
judo may change from the dominant to the marginal one, which will certainly have financial
consequences.

University physical education classes - pleasure or necessity?
Keywords: sport, physical education, students, physical activity
Over 50 percent of Poles do not practise sport. The most common excuse is the lack of time
and fatigue. The media are also running a lively debate on the alarming state of children and
adolescents physical condition. Frequent skipping of physical education lessons among
primary school pupils is on the increase. Institutions involved in the development of sport and
promotion of healthy lifestyle of Poles are alert. This grim picture of physical activity in the
country was a stimulus to reflect: how university students perceive PE classes. The author
attempted to answer the question: what is students attitude to university physical education
classes, drawing from the example of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Are these
classes just an overwhelming necessity and unnecessary addition to the curriculum, or on the
contrary, are they a perfect complement to the students life and provide pleasure and
satisfaction?

students
Keywords: sport, physical education, students, physical activity
On 6th August 2013 Academic Centre of Sport was opened in Toruń. It is to provide for all
the citizens of the city, however, its main purpose is to serve the students attending PE
classes. The centre brings together in one place numerous facilities (including a swimming
pool, gyms, basketball courts) and various sports equipment. The media are currently running
a lively debate on the alarming state of the physical condition of children and adolescents. An
increasing number of students skip PE classes. Lack of professionally designed and well
equipped facilities is one of the reasons for this state of affairs. Is the construction of modern
sports fields, halls and swimming pools which cater for young students a good way to
increase interest in sport? The poster presents how students of NCU perceive University

Abstract
The importance of deregulation of coach profession in present sport
Keywords: deregulation, coach, sport
In accordance with the Law of 13.06.2013 amending the law regulating the follow of certain
professions also changed the law about the sport of 25.06.2013.
Under the new rules, coach and sports instructor is no longer under the professional title and
the requirements for them are equalized. Simplifying the procedure for obtaining the degree
by which a coach or instructor can now be any person, even though not having any eligibility.
The most controversial change is that lowering the requirements for a trainer and coach as
well as failure to determine how their skills are to be verified.
Now it is difficult to identify what the consequences for the sport will bring the introduced
deregulation, but trying to predict trends that may occur in the coming years, it is necessary to
examine the opinions of people directly affected with these changes. This will help to take
appropriate action in the new realities of sports law. Certainly an important group affected by
this change, there are parents who decide where and by whom their children will be trained.
Aim of this study is to know the opinion of parents whose children attend additional sports
activities. Questions related to security issues and the quality of trainingafter the enter of the
new law.
Questionnaire survey was conducted on a group of 378 people living in Malopolska. The
obtained results of the survey revealed a difference in the perception of deregulation by the
parents. A large group of parents see the positive aspects of the new law. On the other hand,
there are also concerns about the safety and health of their children, who can be trained by
people without proper knowledge. The conclusion is that condemned by experts deregulation
should not be negatively perceived by parents of young athletes.

The question, if the criminal law which protects completely essential value - such as life,
health or freedom – should cover also additional special institutions of economic life as
trademarks, raises a lot of controversy. This paper presents reasons underlying creations of
criminal-law protection of trade marks - including the Olympic symbols and Olympic names.
According to Art 51 of Sports Act commits an offense who unlawfully use Olympic symbols
and names. Sports Act assures special position of Polish Olympic Committee and Polish
Paraolympic Committee, especially in executing exclusive rights granted to these
organizations. This paper will focus on the subject of thisregulation, on comparison with the
provisions of the Physical Culture Act and Sports Gualified Act and comments on sanctions

Cracovian students’ opinion on collegiate sport
Keywords: academic competition, university, academic sports association, interest
Academic sport forms an important stage in career of youths who finish their junior
competition. Here come players unable to meet professional leagues requirements being so
young who look for continuous development and mastery. Sports achievements of universities
both national and international still are not widely remarked thus it is futile to find even brief
information on it in all-Polish journals. Lack of appearance influences negatively on
popularity of academic competition decreasing players chance to expose their potential.
The aim of the study was to reveal students’ opinion on academic sport as they are expected
to be target spectators.
Research group were formed from Cracovian students whose strength were 333. They were
supposed to fill in an anonymous online survey in which questions concerned students’ sports
competition perception, popularity, attractiveness, sports level and its advantages. Two-thirds
of respondents were women.

Results of presented work showed that 46% is not associated with academic sports
environment at all either being player or looker. But, most people indicate that there is a need
to pursue competition as it is a stimulus to master positive behavioral attributes and inhibit
pathological demeanour. Moreover, it may be concluded that implementation of attractions
during matches, TV transmission or detailed website would increase students’ interest.
To sum up, academic sport is not publicized. This is a reason for which large part of students’
community does not attempt in it. Nonetheless, there is a demand for spectacular sports events
what must be used to promote academic competition.

Physical Culture students in European and American universities
Keywords: physical culture, university sport, sports facilities
Physical culture is an area of life that in many ways affects human. It is a social good
(welfare) that plays an important role in the modern world.
Over the years, physical culture is having a more important meaning in the students eyes. The
needs and interests of movement and awareness of the advantages of leisure activities brings
the physical culture into higher education such as Universities, which is becoming more and
more prevalent. Academics provide a range of solutions in this area. They try to meet the
needs of students and struggling with sedentary lifestyle. They carry these task through sports
associations and well developed sport infrastructure.
The aim of our study is to compare European and American universities in terms of physical
culture. As an example, we'll use Harvard University and University of Cambridge. The focus
is mainly on university sports unions, sports infrastructure and sports achievements of their
students.

Application of the SERVPERF method in assessing the quality of leisure services
with particular emphasis on the services provided by water parks
Keywords: quality assessment, leisure services, SERVPERF method
Provision of services that brought satisfaction for both the provider and the recipient cannot
take place without the issue of quality. This element must be a subject to continuous
monitoring, which aims to identify errors and unnecessary factors in the service and seek to
meet the consumer's needs and to achieve his satisfaction, which in turn translates into the
service provider gains. Leisure services are no exception in this regard. Especially in this age
of universal trend of promoting active recreation, especially in large cities, the quality can be
a very important element in the competitiveness of a growing number of companies providing
recreational services. The aim of the research is to determine whether SERVPERF method
used to assess the quality of various services is an appropriate method for analyzing the
quality of services provided by the water parks. SERVPERF test is performed using
a questionnaire, in which customer selects the response according to the Likert scale. Among
the publications as sources of knowledge in this subject area are the following: Service
Marketing and Management (Gilmore 2003), Measuring Service Quality: SERVQUAL vs.
SERVPERF Scales (Jain and Gupta 2004), Application of SERVPERV to assess customer
satisfaction (Kucińska and Kołosowski 2009), Models and methods for measuring the service
quality (Stoma 2012). Finding the right method that will be used to assess the quality of
recreation services is important because it will allow the smooth conduct of such research, and
consequently give opportunities to improve the quality of those services, especially now,
when we notice a sharp increase in their number, as well as expanding their circle of
interested consumers.

Keywords: sports club, management, organization, structure, volleyball
Sports evolved over the years, moving from recreational function to the business-core
function , in which the aim is to achieve profits or profitability. As a major determinant of the
development is considered to be the commercialization and globalization. Sports
organizations, facing the challenges associated with increasing autonomy of operation, they
are forced to change their current habits and patterns of action, not to be left behind by their
foreign competitors.
Volleyball is considered as an attractive discipline in terms of spectacle
and commercialization associated with it. This discipline was professionalized in Poland just
only thirteen years ago, and since then it is constantly changed with a representative example
of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn. The club of rich traditions, managed years ago by enthusiasts
of this sport is now a fully professional business , registered as a joint stock company.
Basic research problem can be presented in the form of question: How is the work of a sport
club participating in volleyball league - PlusLiga organized? The aim of the paper is the
analysis of the functioning of the volleyball organization on the highest league level. The
article also focuses on the construction of a sport club in accordance with the requirements of
the organizer of the competition. The aim of this study was also to identify and to analyze the
management of a sport club in the context of the available budget, its components, and its
organizational structure. The study was made by a monographic method. A part of an
interview was supplemented by an analysis of the documents and information obtained from
the Poland's Professional Volleyball League.
Today's sports clubs have a very flexible structure , even with elements of network structures .
The vast majority of contracts are signed with employees on fixed-term contracts or sport
contracts. A form of renewal of lease contracts with the owners of sports infrastructure also
affects financial budget of the club. Annual budgets are largely dependent on the sports
results, as well as the ability to obtain sponsors.
