What a wonderful thought, and what a wonderful image to keep in front of us as we travel down life’s road. For if the path is revealed in the treading, it’s good to know that God is with us—and all around us—every step of the way. But Paul knows that this divine presence is not timid. Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we, along with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call. And who knows more about God’s call than Zacchaeus, the tax collector? Jesus called him out of a tree, for goodness’ sake. Or perhaps more correctly, as we reflect upon the end of today’s Gospel reading, for heaven’s sake. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. CANDLE PRAYER Lord, May this candle be a light for you to enlighten me in my difficulties and decisions. May it be a fire for you to burn out of me all pride, selfishness and impurity. May it be a flame for you to bring warmth into my heart towards my family, my neighbors and all those who meet me. Through the prayers of Mary Virgin and Mother I place in your care those I come to pray for especially ____________ I cannot stay long with you in this church; in leaving this candle I wish to give to you something of myself. Help me to continue my prayer into everything I do this day. Amen. CONSOLATION of ETERNAL LIFE A great many people believe that our eternal life will begin at the time of our death. In reality, our eternal life with God began on the day of our Baptism, the day we became children of God. As adopted members of God’s family, we become heirs of Heaven; as our heritage, God shares His very life with us. Life that is eternal, life that transcends all time and space. REST IN PEACE “Rest in peace,” how much this says, be free of pain no more to weep. Find joy that never ends, possess new life that here you could not keep. “Rest in peace,” and though we grieve, reaching for your hand in vain, Our faith is such that we believe that all of us shall meet again. W 610 roku, papież Bonifacy IV przyjął od cesarza pogańską świątynię, Panteon, i poświęcił ją 13 maja Matce Bożej Męczenników, składając w niej liczne relikwie męczenników. (c.d.n.) .
