Gramatyka i korpus – Grammar and Corpora
Institute of Western and Southern Slavic Studies, University of Warsaw and The Slavic Foundation (Fundacja Slawistyczna) are pleased to announce the 5th international conference in linguistics Gramatyka i korpus – Grammar and Corpora The Warsaw conference is the fifth meeting in the series of events bringing together linguists conducting research with the help of corpora databases. The previous meetings took place in Prague (2005, 2012), Liblice (2007), and Mannheim (2009). We address our invitation to academia members and teachers working in the field of theory and practice of employing corpora in research and academic work. This year’s conference is conceived as a meeting space enabling cooperation between experienced researchers and those entering the sphere of corpus-linguistic research. We have chosen to address the following topics covering a vast array of possible research areas: 1. Research in linguistics involving corpora; 2. Methodology of corpus-linguistic research; 3. The use of corpora in teaching foreign languages. Due to the conference’s thematic scope, speeches/papers will be preferred which concern the use of corpora in research of grammar. Following our invitation, speeches during plenary sessions will be delivered by: Neil Bermel, Russian and Slavonic Studies, University of Sheffield, Agnieszka Leńko-Szymańska, Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, Karolína Skwarska, Slovanský ústav, Akademie věd České republiky, Praha, Amir Zeldes, Institut für deutsche Sprache und Linguistik, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The conference will be held on 25-27 June 2014 in Warsaw, in the facilities of the University of Warsaw.
