Lent is a special time to prepare ourselves to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Once again, God invites us to renew our faith and St. Bruno will be offering various ministries to help

LENTEN REGULATIONS
Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent.
Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this
may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one's needs, but eating
solid foods between meals is not permitted.
The special Paschal fast and abstinence are prescribed for Good Friday and encouraged for Holy Saturday.
By the threefold discipline of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer the Church keeps Lent from Ash Wednesday until the evening of Holy
Thursday. All of the faithful and the catechumens should undertake the serious practice of these three traditions. Failure to observe
penitential days totally or a substantial number of such days must be considered serious.
Our US Bishops issued in 1966 this statement on penitential observance: "On Weekdays of Lent, we strongly recommend participation in daily Mass and self-imposed observances of fasting. In light of grave human needs which weigh on the Christian conscience
in all seasons, we urge particularly during Lent, generosity to local, national and world programs of sharing of all things needed to
translate our duty to penance into a means of implementing the right of the poor to their part of our abundance."

Popietcowej aź do wieczoru Wielkiego Czwartku. Wszyscy wierni, jak i katechumeni, powinni przestrzegać tej potrójnej dyscypliny w tym okresie
czasu. Zaniedbanie w przestrzeganiu tej tradycji w ciạgu jednego dnia nie jest traktowane jako powaźne wykroczenie, natomiast zaniedbanie w
przestrzeganiu dni postnych lub nagromadzenie tego typu zaniedbań uwaźane jest za bardzo powaźne wykroczenie.
W czasie zwyklych dni tygodnia w okresie Wielkiego Postu stanowczo zachęcamy do uczestnictwa w codziennej Mszy świętej i do
wstrzemięźIiwości od pokarmów mięsnych. W tym specjalnym okresie jakim jest Wielki Post powinniśmy wychodzić z pomocạ wszystkim
potrzebom ludzkim, którymi obciạźone jest nasze sumienie I zachęcać wszystkich do hojności w dzieleniu się z naszymi bliźnimi, a zwlaszcza z

LAS REGLAS CUARESMALES PARA ESTE AŃO 2009 SON LAS SIGUIENTES:
La Iglesia nos llama en la estación de la Cuaresma a renovar nuestras vidas como discípulos de Jesús, y nos prepara para la celebración del
Misterio Pascual en la Semana Santa. Las siguientes normas Cuaresmales vienen de la Iglesia universal y son aplicadas a toda la Arquidiócesis.
La abstinencia durante la Cuaresma: Todos los católicos mayores de 14 ańos deben abstenerse de comer carne el Miércoles de Ceniza (Febrero 25,
2009) y todos los viernes de Cuaresma.
El Ayuno debe ser observado el Miércoles de Ceniza por todos los católicos que han cumplido los dieciocho (18) ańos, y les animamos a hacer
sacrificios durante la Cuaresma. Los católicos que han llegado a la edad de cincuenta y nueve (59) ańos son dispensados de esta regla. Las personas
que ayunan sólo pueden hacer una comida completa, y dos comidas pequeńas si son necesarias para mantener sus fuerzas de acuerdo a las
necesidades individuales, pero no se permite alimento sólido entre las comidas.
El Triduo Pascual: El ayuno y abstinencia especial son prescritos para el Viernes Santo (Abril 10, 2009) y recomendados para el Sábado Santo.
Por medio de la triple disciplina del ayuno, la abstinencia y la caridad, así como de la oración, la Iglesia observa la Cuaresma desde el Miércoles de

THE SENSES OF SCRIPTURE
According to an ancient tradition, one can distinguish between two senses of Scripture; the literal and the
spiritual, the latter being subdivided into the allegorical, moral senses. The profound concordance of the four
senses guarantees all its richness to the living reading of Scripture in the Church.
The literal sense is in the meaning conveyed by the words of Scripture and discovered by exegesis following
the rules of sound interpretation. All other senses of Sacred Scripture are based on the literal.
The spiritual sense. Thank to the unity of God's plan, not only the text of Scripture but also the realities and
events about which it speaks can be signs.
The allegorical sense. We can acquire a more profound understanding of events by recognizing their significance in Christ; thus the crossing of the Red Sea is a sign or type of Christ's victory and also of Christian Baptism.
Moral sense. The events reported in Scripture ought to lead us to act justly. As St Paul says, they were written
for our instruction.

RÓŻNE SENSY PISMA ŚW.
Według starożytnej tradycji można wyróżnić dwa rodzaje sensu Pisma św.: dosłowny i duchowy. Sens
duchowy dzieli się jeszcze na moralny i alegoryczny. Scisła zgodność między tymi czterema rodzajami sensu
zapewnia całe jego bogactwo w żywej lekturze Pisma św w Kosciele.
Sens dosłowny. Jest to sens oznaczany przez słowo Pisma św. i odkrywany przez egzegezę, która opiera się
na zasadach poprawnej interpretacji. Wszystkie rodzaje sensu Pisma św. powinny się opierać na sensie
dosłownym.
Sens duchowy. Ze względu na jedność zamysłu Bożego nie tylko tekst Pisma św. lecz także rzeczywistość i
wydarzenia, o których mówi, mogą być znakami.
Sens alegoryczny. Możemy osiągnąć głębsze zrozumienie wydarzeń, poznając ich znaczenie w Chrystusie..
Na przykład przejście przez morze Czerwone jest znakiem zwycięstwa Chrystusa, a przez to także znakiem
chrztu.
Sens moralny. Wydarzenia opowiadane w Piśmie św. powinny prowadzić nas do prawnego postępowania.

EL SENTIDO DE LA ESCRITURA
Segun una antigua tradicion, se pueden distinguir dos sentidos de la Escritura; el sentido literal y el sentido
espiritual; este ultimo se subdivide en sentido alegorico y moral. La concordancia profunda de los cuatro
sentidos asegura toda su riqueza a la lectura viva de la Escritura en la Iglesia.
El sentido literal. Es el sentido significado por las palabras de la Escritura y descubierto por la exegesis que
sigue las reglas de la justa interpretacion. Todos los sentidos de la Sagrada Escritura se fundan sobre el sentido
literal.
El sentido spiritual. Gracias a la unidad del designio de Dios, no solamente el texto de la Escritura, sino
tambien las realidades y los acontecimientos de que habla pueden ser signos.
El sensido alegorico. Podemos adquirir una comprension mas profunda de los acontecimientos reconociendo
su significacion en Cristo; asi,el paso del mar Rojo es un signo de la victoria de Cristo y por ello del Bautismo.
El sentido moral. Los acontecimientos narrados en la Escritura pueden conducirnos a un obrar justo. Fueron
escritos para nuestra instruccion.

"To Tell the Truth" is coming next Saturday, February 20th.
The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the first round of play at 7:00 p.m.. Much
like last year, we have 5 rounds scheduled. Tickets for the event are only $5.00.
Food will be provided by the restaurant Cafezazzo, which is owned by one of
our school families. Pizza will also be available for sale. Raffle baskets will
also be available, provided by many of our school families. Please purchase your tickets through the school
office or from me. Our goal is to fill the gym with enthusiasm, and show the community just how special we
are.

Now that the New Year is
here, we would like to remind
you that a year-end statement
of contributions is available from the rectory. Please
contact the rectory by phone or email with your request
and provide your envelope number ready as well as
your name and phone number.
BAPTISM
Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal
Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday
after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on
the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish
Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least
8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION
CALLS
Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.

Chrzty w języku hiszpańskim udzielane są w trzecią niedzielę
miesiąca w czasie Mszy św. o godzinie 2:30PM.
MAłŻEŃSTWO.Prosimy dzwonić na plebanie conajmniej 8
miesięcy przed planowanym ślubem.Data ślubu bedzie
ustalona podczas pierwszego spotkania z księdzem lub

KOMUNIA ŚW I SAKRAMENT CHORYCH.
Prosimy dzwonić na plebanie aby prosić księdza o sakrament
chorych .Jeśli ktoś jest w szpitalu i potrzebuje ministrów
eucharysti prosimy również dzwonić na plebanie.

BAUTISMO. Por favor llamar a la rectoria para organizar
bautismo. Los Padres y Padrinos necesitan estar registrados
para classes bautismales. Bautismo son cada tercer domingo a
las 2:30 PM
LAS BODAS. Por favor llamar a la rectoria 8 meses antes de
la boda. Durante la primera reunion con el Padre o Diacono,sera confirmada la fecha de la boda. Necesitan una
precana para poder casarse.
SACRAMENTO DE ENFERMOS Y COMUNION. LLamar a la rectoria para desirle al sacerdote que si puede venir.
Si usted esta hospilizado o en la casa y necesita que vaya un
ministro de comunion,por favor llamar a la rectoria.
CONFESIONES. Cada sabado de 4.00 PM a 4.45 PM. Cada
dia despues de misa de 7.OO PM. Cada jueves de 3.OO PM a
4.00 PM y 5:00 PM a 6:00 PM.
