From the desk of the Pastor….
In today's Gospel we have a beautiful image of the Church: The disciples, led by Peter, in a small
fishing boat. At the Lord's command they lower the nets and bring in a huge catch - one hundred and
fifty-three large fish. The number obviously has significance - and can tell us something about the
Church. Early Christian writers said that the number implies that the Lord wants to include all people
in his Church. St. Jerome (who was arguably the greatest Scripture scholar in early Church) noted that
zoologists of that time identified 153 species of fish. The number, 153, indicates that Lord wants us to
bring people of every nation, language and ethnic group.
Jesus means his Church to be "Catholic," that is, universal. Jesus has something for every human being. He alone can satisfy the deepest longing of each person.
The Church by its nature is Catholic - meant for everyone. You will, in fact, find Christians in almost
every nation of the world. Still, we have a long way to go in bringing all people to Christ. We might
even feel frustrated that so many fish seem to be slipping out of the net!

Trudne pytanie postawił Jezus Piotrowi. Obok stał Jan, jedyny, który nie zawiódł Mistrza w Wielki
Piątek i odważnie stanął blisko krzyża. Udowodnił wtedy, że kocha więcej niż pozostali Apostołowie,
więcej niż Piotr. Ten bowiem w chwili krzyżowania Jezusa, w ukryciu, łzami zmywał trzykrotne zaparcie się Mistrza na dziedzińcu pałacu Kajfasza.
Jak w tej sytuacji odpowiedzieć: Tak, Panie, Piotr kocha Cię więcej niż ci, więcej niż Jan? A jednak
Piotr taką odpowiedź daje, i to trzykrotnie. Dodaje jedynie: „Ty wiesz, Panie”. Czyżby upadek na
dziedzińcu arcykapłana nie tylko nie zniszczył jego miłości, lecz nawet ją umocnił?
Piotr doświadczył przebaczającej miłości Chrystusa. Zgrzeszył, i to ciężko, żałował, a Jezus mu przebaczył. Takie przeżycie umacnia miłość znacznie pełniej niż wszelkie inne przeżycia. Nawet więcej
niż wierność Jana pod krzyżem na Golgocie. Grzech bowiem głęboko rani serce, a jeśli w akcie żalu
człowiek sam otworzy tę ranę przed Bogiem, Ten wlewa w nią swą przebaczającą miłość. Człowiek
wówczas odkrywa zbawczy wymiar miłości.

En el evangelio de hoy tenemos una bella imagen de la Iglesia: Los discipulos, encabezado por Pedro,
en un barco. Al mandato del Senor bajan la red y recogen una pesca enorme - ciento cincuenta y tres.
El numero obviamente tiene significado - y puede decirnos algo sobre la Iglesia. Los primeros escritores cristianos dijeron que el numero implica que el Senor quiere incluir a todos los pueblos en su
Iglesia. San Jeronimo nota que los zoologos de aquel tiempo identificaron 153 especies de peces. El
numero indica que el Senor quiere que traigamos gente de toda nacion, lenguaje y grupo etnico.
Jesus desea que su Iglesia sea "catolica," es decir, universal. Jesus tiene algo para todo ser humano.
Solo el puede satisfacer los anhelos mas profundos de toda persona.
La Iglesia por su naturaleza es catolica - destinada para todos. De hecho, se puede encontrar cristianos
en casi todas las naciones del mundo. No obstante, tenemos largo camino para traer a todos a Cristo.

KTÓRĄ PRZEŻYWA KRISTEN...
Hi, my name is Pat Charleston, and I used to
attend this parish. My parents, Ed and Maryann Czuma, are still very active at St. Bruno.
I am hoping that you can open your hearts
and help me out. Life was good for my family until April of 1998, when my 5 yr old
daughter, Kristen became very sick. Up until
this time she was a normal child. She was
born healthy, reached all her milestones, and
was quite a bright child. But little did we
know that our lives would never be the same
again. Kristen experienced episodes of headaches, vomiting, and lethargy. At first, we
thought it was the flu but when this started
happening more regularly, we knew something was wrong. Kristen was diagnosed
with a mitochondrial disease in December of
1998. Mitochondrial disease is when a person’s body fails to produce enough energy to
sustain life. Every 15 minutes a child is born
with or will develop a mitochondrial disease
by age 10. Parts of the body requiring the
most energy are affected, such as the brain,
heart, muscles, and lungs. This disease can
affect any organ, appear as any disease, and
occur at any age. Many children will die
before their teen years. There are no treatments or cures. Basically you treat the
symptoms. Research has determined that
mitochondrial dysfunction is at the core of
many diseases and conditions that affect
millions of people, including: Alzheimer’s
disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, ALS,
and others. Recent studies have also demonstrated a link to autism. A greater understanding of mitochondrial function could
lead to treatments for a wide range of conditions and potentially help millions of people.
Kristen’s disease has progressed. She once
attended school and did all the things that
little girls do but all of that has been taken
away. Besides daily seizures, she suffered
from several strokes (typical of her disease).
She is know 17 years old but functions as an
infant. As a parent, this has to be the worst
thing that you will have to go through. I am
a mom on a mission. I need to raise awareness of this horrible disease and to get funds
for research. I am associated with the United
Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. Their
sole purpose is to promote research for cures
and treatments of mitochondrial disorders
and to provide support to affected families. I
will be selling raffle tickets and candy after
all masses next weekend. I realize that these
are tough economic times for all but anything that you can spare to help Kristen and
the other sick children and adults would be
greatly appreciated.

zazwyczaj uczęszczam do tej parafii. Moi
Rodzice to Ed i Marianna Czuma, którzy są
wciąż aktywni w parafii św Brunona. Mam
nadzieję, że otworzycie Wasze serca aby
nam pomóc. Życie było wyśmienite dla
mojej rodziny aż do kwietnia 1998,
kiedy to 5 letnia córka Kristen stała się
bardzo chora. Dotychczas była ona
dzieckiem normalnym. Urodziła się zdrowa i
była całkiem radosnym dzieckiem. Od
chwili kiedy zachorowała nasze życie już nie
było takie samo. Kristen doznawała bóle
głowy, wymioty i letargie. W pierwszej
chwili myśleliśmy, że to zwykła grypa, ale
gdy to powtarzało się regularnie,
uświadomiliśmy sobie, że to coś poważnego.
Kristen była poddana badaniu i określono
diagnozę o chorobie bardzo poważnej
zwanej mitochondria. Było to w grudniu
1998 r. Mitochondria jest to choroba, która
przeszkadza w dostarczeniu energii do
organizmu. Co 15 minut rodzi się dziecko z
tą chorobą, która rozwija się dopiero w
dziesiątym roku życia dziecka. Części ciała,
które wymagają dostarczenia energii są;
mózg, serce i muskuły. Ta choroba może
zaatakować jakiekolwiek organ ciała i w
każdym wieku dziecka. Większość dzieci
choruje na to przed 10 rokiem życia.
Zazwyczaj nie ma na to lekarstwa i leczenie
jest bardzo trudne. Ta choroba prowadzi do
innych schorzeń jak; Alzheimer, Parkinson,
cukrzyca i inne. Większe zrozumienie
mitochondrii może prowadzić do sposobu
leczenia i do możliwości pomocy milionom
ludzi. Choroba Kristen powiększa się. Odkąd
ona zaczęła szkołę, robiła wszystko co każde
dziecko robi w jej wieku, ale to wszystko
przestało istnieć. Od pewnego czasu doznaje
wylewu krwi, co jest typowe w jej chorobie.
Ona ma teraz 17 lat ale funkcjonuje jak
niemowlę. Dla rodziców jest to najcięższe do
przeżycia. Jestem matką która ma pewną
misję do spełnienia. Mam to w świadomości
tą straszną chorobę i dlatego szukam pomocy
finansowej aby pomóc naszym dzieciom.
Jestem w kontakcie z organizacją, która
pomaga w tej chorobie mitochondrii ale to
nie jest wystarczające. Zwracam się więc do
Rodzin w naszej parafii. W najbliższą
niedzielę będą sprzedawane bilety na loterię i
różne słodycze, po każdej Mszy św w
najbliższym tygodniu. Mam świadomość, że
w tym czasie jest wielki kryzys finansowy,
ale prosimy Was o pomoc dla Kristen i
innych dzieci, które chorują na tą samą
chorobę. Za każdy dolar będziemy bardzo
wdzięczni.

atiendo a esta parroquia. Mis padres es Edwardo y Marianna Chuma. Siguen muy activos en San Bruno. Yo estoy esperando que
Ustedes abran su corazon y me ayuden. La
vida fue buena para mi familia asta avril
1998 cuando mi Hermana mayor a la edad de
5 ańos. Kristen se enfermo. Hasta este tiempo mi vida fue normal como la de cualquier
nińo. Ella nacio saludable y fue una nińo
brillante y inteligente. Oero enseguida nos
dimos cuenta que nuestras vidas no volverian
a ser las mismas. Kristen experimento episodos de dolor de cabeza, vomitas y letargos.
Al principio nosotros pensamos, que era una
gripe, pero luego paso mas regulamente y
nosotros nos dimo cuenta que algo estaba
mal. Kristen fue diagnosticada con mitochondria en diciembre 1998. Mitochondria es
una enfermedad cuando el cuerpo de la persona no produce la suficiente energia para
sustentar la vida. Cada 15 minutos un nińo
nace con la posibilidad o en desarollo de la
enfermedad de mitochondia a la edad de 10
ańos. Partes del cuerpo requieren mucha mas
energia son afectados como el selebro, corazon, musculos y pulmones. Esta enfermedad
puede afectar cualquier organo, apareciendo
con cualquier sintoma y a cualquier edad.
Muchos nińos mueron antes de los 10 ańos.
No hay tratamicuentos ni cura. Basicamente
tratan los sintomas. An determinado que la
desfunccion mi mitochondria es la causa de
muchas enfermedades y condiciones que
afectan a milliones de personas incluyendo;
Alzhaimers, Parkinson, diabetis, AIS y otros.
Estudios recientes, an demonstrado tambien
autismo. Un gran entendimiento de la funccion de esta enfermedad nos puede guiar a
tratamiento en gran escala y potencialmente
para ayudar a milliones de personas. La enfermedad de Kristen ha progresado. Ella
atiende a la escuela y hace todas las cosas
que una nińa pecenia hace, pero todo eso se
pierde. AQl mismo tiempo ella diariamente
sufre de severos ataces tipicos. Ella tiene 17
ańos pero sus funcciones son infantiles. Para
un padre esto es muy duro. Necesitamos
estar alerta para que esta horible enfermedad
sea prevenida y necesitamos conseguir fondos. Yo estoy asociada con la fundacion de
la enfermedad mitochondria unida. Su proposito es encontrar la cara y tratamientos para
este desonden mitachondria y prober apollo a
las familias afectadas. Yo vendere boletos de
rifa de dulces despues de las misas en la siguiente semana. Yo comprendo que son
tiempos dificiles economicales, pero todos
los que ayuden a Kristen y a otros nińos enfermos seran grandemente apreciados y bendecidos por Dios.

Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal
Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday
after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on
the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish
Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least
8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.

Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.

BAUTISMO. Por favor llamar a la rectoria para organizar
bautismo. Los Padres y Padrinos necesitan estar registrados
para classes bautismales. Bautismo son cada tercer domingo a
las 2:30 PM
LAS BODAS. Por favor llamar a la rectoria 8 meses antes de
la boda. Durante la primera reunion con el Padre o Diacono,sera confirmada la fecha de la boda. Necesitan una precana para poder casarse.
SACRAMENTO DE ENFERMOS Y COMUNION. LLamar a la rectoria para desirle al sacerdote que si puede venir.
Si usted esta hospilizado o en la casa y necesita que vaya un
ministro de comunion,por favor llamar a la rectoria.
CONFESIONES. Cada sabado de 4.00 PM a 4.45 PM. Cada
dia despues de misa de 7.OO PM. Cada jueves de 3.OO PM a
4.00 PM y 5:00 PM a 6:00 PM.
