HiCarol,
Greetings from zakopane. I’m on a twoweek holiday here with my parents. It’s
not bad – we go trekking and go to the
aqua park. I’ve bought a good souvenir for
you! Now, I think about my trip to London
all the time. Do you know if you can pick
me up from the airport? That would be
really great. I really can’t wait – I think
we’ll have a lot of fun, just like when you
were at my place last month.
Cheers,
Beth
ast week, there was a survey at our school. We asked
students about what they thought was the best place to
live. Most teenagers said that it was best to live in a big city,
while some others said it was best to live in a small town. But
few people think that it’s best to live in the countryside. They
said that it’s impossible to live without the cinema and big
shopping centres around them.

Have you thought about joining the Quidditch League? Yes, the
sport that Harry Potter and his friends played. Now Muggles can
play it, too – except for the flying part from the book, of course.
Instead, people run around with broomsticks. The no-flying version
of the game is just as much fun as the fictional one. Quidditch
started at a college in Vermont in 2005 and is now played at more
than 300 colleges and high schools around the world.

Hello! I’m a 70-year-old lady who lives in a big flat in the city centre. My only
company is my cat, Lumi. I’d like to offer a room with a balcony. I’m happy to
accept lower rent if you prepare a meal for me sometimes and look after my cat
when I’m on holiday.
B.
My wife and I live in a beautiful house just outside town. Our daughter has gone to
university so we are now alone. We would like to rent one of our rooms to a young
person who is willing to join us for homemade meals and become our friend.
C.
Hi! We’re Mandy, Sue and Puffy. We’ve got a wonderful dog. It’s the cutest animal
ever! But don’t worry, you won’t have to take care of it. We’ve just rented a new
flat and there is still one room left. We are looking for a flatmate for the next school
year. If you study IT, like we do, we can offer you lower rent.
