On Monday, May 29th, there will be only
one Mass celebrated at 9AM in our
church in memory of those who have
given the ultimate sacrifice in our nation’s
service.
Remember our nation’s servicemen and
women by:
► Attending Mass
► Visiting cemeteries and placing flags or flowers on
the graves of our fallen heroes.
► Flying the U.S. Flag at half-staff until noon.
► By participating in a ”National Moment of Remembrance” at 3PM to pause and think upon the true
meaning of the day.
An annual MEMORIAL DAY MASS will be celebrated in
the Catholic cemeteries at 10:30AM.
STEWARDS: COLLABORATORS IN CREATION
Human cooperation with God’s work of creation in general takes
several forms. One of these is a profound reverence for the great
gift of life, our own life and the lives of others, along with the readiness to spend ourselves in serving all that preserves and enhances
life.
Vatican II speaks of the “surpassing ministry of safeguarding life”
and declares that “from the moment of its conception life must be
guarded with the greatest care.”
Stewardship is also expressed by jubilant appreciation of nature as
well as ecological concern. At the same time, life as a Christian
steward also requires continued involvement in the human vocation
to cultivate material creation. This productivity embraces art, scholarship, science, and technology, as well as business and trade,
physical labor, skilled work of all kinds, and serving others.

St. Mary of Czestochowa
Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is nothing
less than a close, private conversation with a living
person who is the risen Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. It is about as close as we can come in this life
to talking with God face to face. You are very
important to the Lord. Come and spend an hour
with Him during our Wednesday Adoration program from 8:30 am to
7:00pm in the church.

Pentecost 2006
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The Church rejoices always in the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The original outpouring of the Spirit on Pentecost gave the
Church her unity and gave life to her mission. Those who
heard St. Peter in Jerusalem proclaim two thousand years
ago that Jesus had risen from the dead were given one
faith and began to live with one Spirit. One can recite the
Creed; but without the Spirit, the words of Scripture and
liturgy are dead. One can call oneself a Catholic; but without zeal to introduce others to Jesus, the apostolic mission
languishes.
Pentecost is a feast of conversion. Our minds are converted to Christ in faith; and our hearts are converted to
his mission in charity. Faith and charity are given with the
coming of the Holy Spirit. Everything in the Church is a
gift.
In this local Church which is the Archdiocese of Chicago,
I hold each of you in my heart as I share with each of you
the Catholic faith "which comes to us from the apostles." (Roman Canon) Each of us is on a path of continuous conversion to the Lord in his Body, the Church. Because the soul of the Church is the Holy Spirit, we are one.
Because we are one, the actions of each affect the lives of
all. One person' s growth in holiness makes the path to
holiness easier for all; another person's descent into sin
diminishes all of us spiritually.
We celebrate Pentecost this year while still suffering
from the sins of sexual abuse by some priests. Through
your parishes and in other forms, I will continue to keep
you informed about what the Archdiocese is doing to meet
this scandal. With this note, I want only to express my
hope that meeting the scandal’s consequences will not
absorb all our energies and co-opt the Church' s mission. I
hope as well that the unity that is the gift of the Holy Spirit
will not be weakened and our spiritual fervor not diminished.
I have reason for hope in the reports from many parishes
that participation in the life of the Church is deeper and
generosity to the mission of the Church is greater. I thank
all those who contributed to the great success of the Annual Catholic Appeal this year, without which not only the
ministry but the very mission of the Church would suffer.
All of you are in my prayers, that the Holy Spirit may
preserve us in unity and let us together taste the joy that is
the sign of God's presence to his people. Happy Pentecost

Palabra con los signos que los acompañaban.

demás, junto con la disposición de entregarse al servicio de todo aquello que preserva y fortalece la vida.
La corresponsabilidad por el mundo se expresa en el

por Dios ni el abuso ni la explotación han podido destruir.
Además de apreciar simplemente la belleza natural,

Pentecostés de 2006
Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:
La iglesia se regocija siempre con el don del Espíritu Santo. Aquel
fluir original del Espíritu Santo durante el Pentecostés dio unidad a
la Iglesia y vida a su misión. A aquellos que escucharon hace dos
mil años a San Pedro proclamar en Jerusalén que Jesús había
resucitado de entre los muertos les fue dada una fe y comenzaron a
vivir con un Espíritu. Uno puede recitar el Credo; pero sin el Espíritu, las palabras de las Escrituras y la liturgia están muertas. Uno
puede hacerse llamar católico; pero si se carece de la pasión para
dar a conocer a Jesús a otras personas, la misión apostólica languidece.
El Pentecostés es una fiesta de conversión. En la fe, nuestras
mentes son convertidas a Cristo; y en la caridad, nuestros corazones son convertidos a su misión. Fe y caridad son dones que acompañan la llegada del Espíritu Santo. Todo en la Iglesia es un obsequio, un don.
Aquí en la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, nuestra iglesia local, cuando
comparto con cada uno de ustedes la fe católica, "la cual nos llega
de los apóstoles", ustedes ocupan un lugar especial en mi corazón.
(Canon romano). Cada uno de nosotros se encuentra en un proceso de continua conversión al Señor a través de su Cuerpo, la Iglesia. Debido a que el alma de la Iglesia es el Espíritu Santo, somos
uno. Y debido a que somos uno, las acciones de cada persona
afectan la vida de todos. El crecimiento de una persona en la santidad hace que el camino a la santidad sea más fácil para todos; el
que otra persona descienda al pecado nos disminuye a todos de
manera espiritual.
Este año celebramos el Pentecostés en un periodo de sufrimiento
causado por los pecados del abuso sexual perpetrados por algunos
sacerdotes. Continuaré manteniéndolos informados, a través de
sus parroquias y de otros medios, sobre lo que la arquidiócesis está
haciendo para atender este escándalo. Con esta nota quiero decirles que tengo la esperanza de que el hecho de enfrentar las consecuencias del escándalo no absorberá todas nuestras energías ni se
apoderará de la misión de la Iglesia. Espero también, que la unidad
que nos obsequió el Espíritu Santo no se verá debilitada y que
nuestro fervor espiritual no disminuirá.
Sé que tengo razón al tener esperanza en los reportes de muchas
parroquias los cuales afirman que la participación en la vida de la
Iglesia es más profunda y que la generosidad para la misión de la
Iglesia es más grande. Agradezco a todos aquellos que contribuyeron al enorme éxito de la Colecta Anual Católica este año, sin cuyo
apoyo no sólo el ministerio sino la misma misión de la Iglesia sufriría.
Todos ustedes están en mis plegarias. Que el Espíritu Santo nos
preserve en unidad y que nos permita probar el júbilo, que es la
señal que Dios da a su pueblo de su presencia. ¡Feliz Pentecostés!

I rzekł do nich: Idźcie na cały świat i głoście Ewangelię wszelkiemu stworzeniu! Kto uwierzy i przyjmie chrzest, będzie zbawiony; a kto nie uwierzy,
będzie potępiony. Tym zaś, którzy uwierzą, te znaki
towarzyszyć będą: w imię moje złe duchy będą wyrzucać, nowymi językami mówić będą; węże brać
będą do rąk, i jeśliby co zatrutego wypili, nie będzie
im szkodzić. Na chorych ręce kłaść będą, i ci odzyskają zdrowie. Po rozmowie z nimi Pan Jezus został
wzięty do nieba i zasiadł po prawicy Boga. Oni zaś
poszli i głosili Ewangelię wszędzie, a Pan współdziałał z nimi i potwierdził naukę znakami, które jej
towarzyszyły.

Współpracownicy w Stworzeniu
Jedną z form oddawania chwały Bogu jest szanowanie środowiska naturalnego, w którym
żyjemy. Poprzez akcję stewardship chcemy na
nowo docenić piękno stworzenia. Troska o
stworzony świat będzie się wyrażać w sposobie
naszego życia, który przyjmie prostą formę.
Jan Paweł II powiedział, że prostota, umiarkowanie i dyscyplina a także duch ofiary musi
stać się częścią codziennego życia, w przeciwnym razie będziemy doświadczać negatywnych
skutków naszych przyzwyczajeń. Zarówno
znane i cenione profesje jak i zwykła praca
daje wiele możliwości, aby troszczyć się o
stworzony świat. Dla Boga każda praca ma
znaczenie i każdy człowiek ma niepowtarzalną
wartość.

Święto Zesłania Ducha Świętego 2006
Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie:
Kościół zawsze raduje się darami Ducha Świętego.
Pierwszy wylew Ducha Świętego w dniu Zielonych
Świąt dało Kościołowi jedność i życie dla jego misji.
Ci, którzy słuchali św. Piotra w Jerozolimie dwa
tysiące lat temu, który głosił, że Jezus zmartwychpowstał, byli obdarzeni jedną wiarą i żyli jednym Duchem. Każdy może recytować Wyznanie Wiary Credo, ale bez Ducha, słowa Pisma Świętego i czytania liturgiczne są martwe. Ktoś może nazywać siebie, że jest katolikiem; ale bez gorliwości dzielenia
się Jezusem z innymi, jego apostolska misja umiera.
Uroczystość Zesłania Ducha Świętego jest świętem
przemiany. Nasze umysły w wierze jednoczą się z
Chrystusem, a nasze serca w miłości angażują się w
Jego misję. Wiara i miłość są darami zstępującego na
nas Ducha Świętego. W Kościele wszystko jest darem.
W tym lokalnym Kościele, jakim jest nasza Archidiecezja Chicago, wszystkich z was mam w swoim
sercu i dzielę się z każdym z was Katolicką wiarą,
„która przychodzi od apostołów." (Rzymski Kanon)
Każdy z nas jest na drodze ciągłego upodabniania się
do Pana Boga w Jego Ciele, czyli w Kościele. Ponieważ duszą Kościoła jest Duch Święty, dlatego stanowimy jedność. Ponieważ więc jesteśmy jednością,
dlatego postępowanie każdego z nas ma wielki
wpływ na życie wszystkich ludzi. Dążenie do świętości jednej osoby utorowuje łatwiejszą drogę do
świętości dla wszystkich ludzi. Natomiast upadek
jednego człowieka niszczy duchowo wszystkich z
nas.
W tym roku, niestety, obchodzić będziemy uroczystość Zesłania Ducha Świętego w cieniu cierpienia z
powodu molestowania nieletnich przez niektórych z
księży. Będę się starał informować was, na bieżąco,
przez wasze parafie lub przez inne formy komunikacji, jak Archidiecezja radzić będzie sobie z tym skandalem. Jeśli już wspominam o tym, to mam wielką
nadzieję, że zajmowanie się tym skandalem nie powinno pochłonąć całej naszej energii i nie powinno

mam powód do nadziei, że udział w życiu Kościoła
jest głębszy a hojność dla misji Kościoła jest większa. Bardzo dziękuję wszystkim tym, którzy hojnie
przyczynili się do wielkiego sukcesu Corocznej Katolickiej Akcji w tym roku, bez której, nie tylko działalność, ale właśnie cała misja Kościoła ucierpiałaby.
