ES-SYSTEM IN THE WORLD VANGUARD OF URBAN-PLANNING
On February 19 ES-SYSTEM has won the tender for lighting of main traffic artery in Aarhus
Harbour.
The project includes designing and production of modern luminaires based on highly efficient LEDs
with direct, asymmetric light distribution. Each luminaire will be equipped with wireless dimming
system enabling adjusting light intensity to the atmospheric conditions and to intensity of car and
pedestrian traffic at night.
Delivery will include 480 luminaires in 6 types, most of them with poles. Total amount of the contract at
the first stage will reach 860 000 €, realization will be spread over the period of 4 years beginning in
2010.

shivers sending catchwords amongst townplanners
and
architects.

Peninsula, second biggest city in Denmark,
announced the international competition to
create a modern residential, office and trade
district on the territory of a former harbour.
The first stage of the projects
assumes developing north part of the harbour
front with the area of about 60 000 m². The
main idea of the project is to create an urban
enclave friendly to residents, guests and to
people working there; enclave which in
evenings will not change into deserted office
centre and will not become one of those sad
housing estates. That is why 2/3 of the whole area is intended for private apartments and the rest for
commercial establishments.
Splendid sea front – a perfect place to watch sunsets, arcades along the canal, large city
square with a place for common free-time activities, a scenic terrace on top of the tower accessible to
the public, promenades with café gardens – it’s only a part of planned attractions for residents and
guests. Access by car will also be possible but all vehicles will park in the underground parking. The
surface will be a domain of bikers and pedestrians.
The avant-garde forms of buildings will be accompanied by ultra-modern lighting of public
spaces. LEDs will be the basic light source, intelligent systems and special technical solutions will
ensure proper adjustment of lighting to weather conditions, time of day and even to type of illuminated
area. The same street light will differently illuminate traffic arteries, green areas and the harbour front.
