PRELEGENCI
Mariusz Prot
graduated from University in Kielce and Społeczna Akademia Nauk in Warsaw
in the faculty of English for Business and Negotiations. For over a year now he has
been working for Cambridge English Language Assessment as a Client Relations
Officer for Central and Nothern Poland. Before joining the University of Cambridge
he used to teach business and general English in companies and lower secondary
school.
THE TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Aiming high with BEC – the benefits of Cambridge English Business exams.
For many decades, Cambridge English Exams have provided students with reliable
and fair assessment and sound boost of confidence. The common reason why
students take Cambridge Business English exams is the fact that they are recognized
by the biggest employers worldwide. Cambridge Business Exams give thousands
of students head start in their professional career. The presentation, delivered
by University of Cambridge English Consultant, will cover lots of other ways you can
benefit from taking Business English Certificate (BEC).
Iwonna Dubicka
has taught English sine 1989 specializing in business and ESP. She was born of Polish
parents in Bristol, England. Iwonna has an MA in Communication Studies and has
worked for SEI – EIM at the University of Barcelona, at the Open University
of Catalonia, the British Council and ESADE’s former Executive Language Center
of Barcelona. Currently she is a Director of Studies at PLS Comunicado.
Together with Margaret O’Keeffe, she co-authored Lifestyle Intermediate, English
for International Tourism Pre-intermediate and Market Leader Advanced.
THE TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Many of our Business English learners need more than a B2 level of English in order
to perform effectively at work, either in their present or future jobs. Most language
teachers would agree a combination of business skills, linguistic competence, and
confidence make the difference. In this session we will look at some of the
characteristics of Advanced Business English learners and activities that can help
our students to ‘move up’ and acquire both professional and linguistic competence
for the global workplace. Miss Iwonna Dubicka will refer to case studies and business
skills from the Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels of Market Leader, third
edition.
Kevin Lee
has served as a university communication Professor for over two decades.
Prior to that, he served in a variety of posts for academic institutions including public
relations director and newspaper managing editor, reporter and photographer.
Lee earned his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. His publications include
books, research journal articles, numerous refereed papers and panel presentations
at professional academic meetings.
THE TOPIC OF PRESENTATION
Students and teachers of English will benefit from routine listening to quality
recorded audio broadcasts, aka podcasts. First-rate non commercial programs are
available from a variety of sources including the British Broadcasting Corporation’s
(BBC) World Service, the United States’ National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Radio
International (PRI). Benefits include expanded vocabulary, crisp pronunciation
and enhanced worldview.
