Mother’s Day Cards
The Annual celebration of Mothers’ Day
will be celebrated on Sunday, May 14th.
If you would like to offer a Spiritual Bouquet of Masses for your living mother or
deceased mother, special Mothers’ Day cards (English,
Polish and Spanish) are available at all entrances of the
church.. Mass Offerings may be placed in the collection
baskets. Mass intentions for living and deceased Mothers will be posted during the entire month of May. .
ATTENTION: EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The Cicero-Berwyn Parishes invite the Eucharistic Ministers to
participate in an evening of prayer and reflection with FR. ANDY
SANTOS, the pastor of St. Odilo Parish. This gathering will be
held at 7PM on Monday, May 8, 2006 at St. Leonard Parish which
is located at 3318 S. Clarence Ave in Berwyn. The Eucharistic
Ministers of our parish are encouraged to participate in this event.
New Citizens’ Workshop
New Americans Initiative, Interfaith Leadership
Project, Catholic Charities, and Instituto del Porgreso Latino have free Citizenship Workshops.
They will assist community residents to fill out the
application to become citizens. This workshop will be held on

Eucharistic Adoration
Our parish will be initiating an ALL DAY
OF ADORATION OF THE BLESSED
SACRAMENT every Wednesday, beginning on May 17th. Exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament will take place after
the 8am Mass until 7pm. It is very important that at every moment throughout the day there will
be someone in the church to pray before the Blessed
Sacrament. There are many churches that have Perpetual Adoration 24hours, 7 days a week and there is
always someone available to pray throughout this time.
We are inviting our parishioners and friends of our
parish to offer at least one hour, once a week, on a
Wednesday to honor our Lord present in the Eucharist . A sign-up bulletin board is available at the front
entrance of the church for adorers to choose a time to
pray. Here is an opportunity for each of us to be a
good Steward of our TIME to respond to the Lord’s
invitation: . “Will you not watch one hour with me?”

Please invite “HOMEBOUND” parishioners
to become a member of our parish MINISTRY OF PRAISE PROGRAM. Our parish
office will need the name, address and telephone number of interested persons. These
persons will be asked to pray for the world,
the universal Church and to pray especially for the members of our parish. Each month, they will receive a letter
from the parish indicating the intentions to be prayed for
during that month. What a powerhouse of spirituality this
will bring upon our parish! Please call the rectory office
(9am to 5pm) with the name of a sick, handicapped, or
homebound person that would like to join this program.
The next Neighborhood Watch meeting is scheduled to be

NEWS
• The school children are sponsoring a
YARD SALE along 30th Street on Friday, May
19th between 1:30 pm and 4:30pm. Office
furniture, computers, books, etc. will be for
sale.
Summer Camp will be held at the Social Center beginning
on June 12th through August 18th...don’t forget to register if
you are interested in this program.
Registration for the next school year is now opened for
three/four yr. olds through Gr. 8. The first day of school is
scheduled to begin on August 23, 2006. Call 708-656-5010

Mothers are the hearts of their families. On this Mother's Day, as
we honor and celebrate the love and dedication of our mothers, I
ask you to remember and help mothers whose lives are made
more difficult and whose hearts are broken by the pain of poverty.
I ask you to support the life-giving work of Catholic Charities of the
Archdiocese of Chicago by participating in the annual Mother's
Day Appeal. Each year Catholic Charities in Cook and Lake counties provides needed social services and feeds, clothes, shelters
and counsels 870,000 low-income, hungry, homeless or troubled
families, children, seniors and individuals.
Founded in 1917 to feed the hungry and care for widows, orphans
and unwed mothers and their children, the majority of Catholic
Charities' 168 programs at 157 locations still reach out to compassionately help vulnerable women and children, and poor families
struggling to survive.
Today, 250 people, seventy-five percent of whom are children, are
living in Catholic Charities' four family shelters. This past year,
over 250 apartments have been found and furnished to permanently house formerly homeless families who are now working
toward self-sufficiency and renewed human dignity in Catholic
Charities programs - including families who survived Hurricane
Katrina.
With the saving love of a mother, Catholic Charities annually
provides maternity services, food, counseling, recovery and other
emergency services for thousands of low-income women and their
infants and children.
These are just a few of the comprehensive services Catholic

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Rehearsal for First Communion students only will
be held on Wednesday, May 10th from 4PM to
6PM. All First Communicants must be present for
the practice. The next and last Religious Education Class (CCD) will be held on Saturday, May
20, 2006. Children will attend the 8am Mass.
Students are required to meet in the church at
7:50am. Confirmation and First Holy Communion certificates will
be distributed on this date.
Rosary Confraternity Dinner
Celebrate Mothers’ Day with your friends at
the annual Mother’s Day Dinner of the Rosary
Confraternity. This event will be held on Sunday May 21st in Makuch Hall at 1:00PM. The

John 10:11-18
If you’ve ever admired a famous painting, you were probably struck by two
things. First is the thought of how much
sacrifice was required of the artist. Second, you were probably awed at the intricacy of the painting, and you wondered how the artist could have planned
his or her work in such detail. Great sacrifice and awesome planning - we see these same two elements in today’s reading from the Gospel of John.
The sacrifice Jesus made is great because he made it
freely. Jesus was clear that no one would take his life from
him: “I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18) As Paul
wrote, Jesus willingly laid his privileges aside, coming to
earth as a man, and accepting “even death on a cross:
(Phillipians 2:6-9). The thought that the God who made
the vast universe chose to become one of us and then
died a shameful death for our sake is one we
can hardly comprehend.
It is comforting to know that the Father didn‘t just send
Jesus down to earth and hope for the best. He planned
the whole thing from the beginning. Jesus himself understood the sacrifice of his cross as a “command from my
Father” (John 10:18). Many times in his description of
Jesus’ last days, John wrote that the Lord made his journey to Calvary in order to fulfill the words of the prophets.
In other words, Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection
were in the mind of God even before the Scriptures were
written! Could any design be more awesome than that?
The genius of the world’s greatest paintings is nothing
compared to what God’s artistry has worked out for us in
the death and resurrection of his Son, Jesus Christ. Even
our own lives are part of this great masterpiece, for we are
“inscribed” in God’s book (Psalm 139:16)! Let us rejoice
and rest secure, knowing that we too are part of God’s
magnificent plan!
“Thank you, Jesus, for the incredible love that drew you to
the cross to give me eternal life. Thank you for fulfilling
exactly every detail of the Father’s plan for my salvation.”

Demos gracias a nuestras madres de una manera especial,
ofreciendo la Santa Masa por ellas. Los sobres están
disponibles en las diferentes entradas de la iglesia. Usted
puede incluir el nombre de su mamá viva o fallecida y poner
sobre con la ofrenda a la canasta de la colecta dominical.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
Las madres son el corazón de sus familias. En este Día de las Madres,
en el que honramos y celebramos el amor y dedicación de nuestras
madres, les pido que recuerden y ayuden a esas madres a quienes el
dolor de la pobreza hace sus vidas más difíciles, rompiéndoles el
corazón.
Les pido que apoyen el trabajo dador de vida que realiza Caridades
Católicas de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago, participando en la Colecta
Anual del Día de las Madres. Cada año en los condados de Cook y
Lake, Caridades Católicas proporciona servicios sociales necesarios y

La segunda colecta en día de las Madres será para Caridades Católicas
El Ministerio de Oración.
Nuestra parroquia pronto iniciará un nuevo
Ministerio de Oración. ¿Que es el Ministerio de
Oración? Es un ministerio espiritual en el cual
los miembros ofrecen todos sus rezos, sacrificios, sufrimientos y alegrías al Dios por la salvación y las necesidades espirituales y materiales
de otros. ¿Quién puede pertenecer a este ministerio? Los enfermos,
los inhabilitados y los ancianos cuales no salen de sus casas. ¿Qué
él tiene que hacer? Rogar por el mundo, la iglesia universal y especialmente los miembros de nuestra parroquia. Cada mes recibirán
una carta de la parroquia que indicará las intenciones para próximo
mes. ¿Qué bueno hará? Proporcionará un fuerza espiritual que
traiga las bendiciones del Dios a nuestros sacerdotes, religiosos,
familias, juventud, católicos inactivos, y cada uno en necesidad.
¿Habrá reuniones? No, esto es un ministerio espiritual. No habrá
reuniones. Sus rezos, los sufrimientos y las alegrías son todos que
son necesarios. Los enfermos, los inhabilitados y los ancianos cuales
no salen de sus casas pueden comunicarse llamando a rectoría para
dejar su datos que quieren formar parte de este ministerio.
La persona corresponsable
Jesús algunas veces describe la vida del dis-cípulo en términos de un
mayordomo (cf. Mt 25:14-30; Lc 12:42-48), no porque ser un mayordomo lo
contiene todo sino porque esta función ilustra un aspecto de lo que significa
ser un cristiano corresponsable.
Una parábola al final del evangelio de Mateo (cf. Mt 25:14-30) nos da una
idea de los pen-samientos de Jesús sobre los mayordomos y sus funciones. Todos los bienes temporales y espirituales han sido creados por Dios
y proceden de Dios. Eso se puede decir de todo lo que los seres humanos
poseen: los dones espirituales como la fe, la esperanza y el amor; los
talentos del cuerpo y de la mente; las relaciones apreciadas de familiares y
ami-gos; los bienes materiales; las realizaciones del ingenio y la destreza
humana; el mundo en sí. Un día Dios nos pedirá cuentas del uso que cada
persona ha hecho de la porción par-ticular de esos bienes confiados a ella.
Cada quien será juzgado en la medida de su vocación individual. Cada
persona ha recibido una "suma" diferente una mezcla especial de talentos,
oportunidades, retos, puntos fuertes y débiles, posibilidades de servicios y
respuestas y el Maestro espera recibir su ganancia. El juzgará a cada
individuo según lo que hicieron con lo que recibieron.

de nuestro programa de la educación religiosa de la parroquia celebraran su Primera Comunión en nuestra iglesia el sábado, 13 mayo.

LA EDUCACIÓN RELIGIOSA (CCD)
El ensayo para los niños de Primera Comunión será el día
10 de mayo de 4:00 PM a 6:00 PM. Deben estar presentes
todos los niños. La clase siguiente de la educación religiosa
(CCD) será llevada a cabo el sábado, 20 de mayo de 2006.
Los niños participaran en la Misa a las 8:00 AM. Todos deben estar a horas 7:50 AM. Los certificados de la Primara

en el Centro Social de nuestra parroquia.
Si ustedes están trabajando como padres y

niño puede ser cuidado durante los meses

esta programa de campo de varano en nuestra parroquia. Usted
puede hacerlo después de cualquier Misa este fin de semana. El

naszych matek, zwracam się do was, abyście szczególnie pamiętali i pomagali tym matkom, których życie
stało się trudne a ich serca złamane są bólem ubóstwa.
Zwracam się do was również o wsparcie dla przedsięwzięć Archidiecezjalnych, Katolickich Dzieł Miłosierdzia w Chicago (Catholic Charities) przez włączenie
się do corocznego apelu organizowanego w Dniu Matki. Każdego roku Katolickie Dzieła Miłosierdzia w
powiecie Cook i Lakę dostarczaj ą żywność, odzież,
schronienie i porady dla ponad 870,000 rodzin o niskim zarobku, dla rodzin z problemami, dla bezdomnym, dla dzieci, starców i dla wielu innych osób.
Organizacja ta założona w roku 1917 zajmuje się dożywianiem głodnych, opieką nad wdowami i sierotami

W tradycji polskiej miesiąc
maj jest poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W tym miesiącu składamy hołd Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając litanię loretańską do Matki Bożej jak też
rozważając tajemnice różańca
świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym miesiącu czy to w
sposób prywatny czy też przez udział w nabożeństwie w kościele tej pięknej tradycji stało się zadość i abyśmy potrafili żyć tak jak żyła Maryja

Co jest Krucjata Modlitwy
Chorych? To jest duchowa
posługa, w której członkowie
ofiarują wszystkie ich modlitwy, ofiary, cierpienia i radości
Bogu dla zbawienia ludzi i
dobra parafii. Kto może należeć? Chorzy, cierpiący i osoby w podeszłym wieku.
Co mają czynić? Modlić się za świat, Kościół i osoby potrzebujące z naszej parafii. Każdego miesiąca
otrzymają list z parafii podający intencje modlitwy na
następny miesiąc. Jakie dobro czynią? Wypraszają
błogosławieństwo Boga dla kapłanów, zakonników,
rodzin, młodzieży, ludzi oddalonych od Boga i
wszystkich potrzebujących. Czy będą spotkania
albo opłata? Nie, to jest duchowa krucjata. Nie będzie żadnych spotkań ani opłat. Jedynie konieczna
jest ich modlitwa, cierpienie i radość. Zapraszamy
