PARISH ANNUAL WIGILIA
Mark your calendars...St. Mary’s
annual Wigilia Dinner will be held
on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at
the European Chalet, 5445 S. Harlem Avenue in Chicago, IL. There will be an
11:00am Mass followed by dinner, entertainment
and dancing. Adult tickets will sell for $30 per
person and tickets for children 3 to 12 yrs. are
$15 per child. Tickets are available this weekend, after all Masses. Tickets are also available
at the rectory during office hours from 9am to

In the Fall/Winter of 2007 the
Sisters of ST. Joseph, Third Order
of ST. Francis at Lourdes
Convent will be moving to “Clare
Oaks,” their new residence in
Bartlett, Illinois. They have many good and useful items
that they will not be able to take with them. The Sisters
are preparing to hold a HUGE GARAGE SALE on Saturday, Nov. 4th from 9am to 4pm and on Sunday, November 5th from 10am to 3pm. There will be many
bargains and really great stuff for sale!
This event will take place in the school (John Hancock)
cafeteria which is located at 5531 S. Karlov Ave. in
Chicago. Your support of this event will be greatly appreciated!
TRAINING FOR NEW MINISTERS OF THE
EUCHARIST
The Cooperativo of the Cicero-Bewryn parishes is
sponsoring formation classes for persons that are
interested in serving their parishes as Eucharist
Ministers. Formation classes in English will be held
at St. Odilo parish in Berwyn from 7:00 - 8:30pm
on Tuesday, October, 31st. Our parish needs
more parishioners to serve in this capacity and we
encourage interested persons to participate in the
formation sessions. Please contact Fr. Radek if
you are interested in this stewardship program.

an offering and drop this envelope in the collection basket next
weekend. Your deceased family members and friends will also
be remembered throughout the year at daily Masses whenever
there are no other Mass intentions listed.

Stewardship of Time and Talent
In the time of Jesus, a steward
was one to whom the owner of
a household turned over responsibility for caring for the
property, managing affairs,
making resources yield as
much as possible, and sharing the resources with others. The
position involved trust and accountability. It may be 2000 years
later, but the role of the steward has not changed. God is still
the owner and He has made each of us stewards by giving us
abilities and talents that are uniquely our own. It’s our job to
use these abilities and talents to carry out the mission of God
on earth.
When God gives us life, we don’t know how much time we
have to use that life. But whatever time we have is a gift from
God, and we are called to use it wisely in every activity
throughout the day. God gives all of us potential talents, skills
and abilities when we are born. Each of us makes choices
whether or not to develop and use these gifts according to
God’s plan. The Bible tells us that if we use our talents, wisely,
we will be better able to grow them and will develop others but if we don’t use our talents, we may lose even those talents
we do have. As Christian stewards we serve God out of love
and gratitude for all his gifts to us, knowing that it’s not how
much we have but what we do with what we have that is important.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I write this with a deep sense of gratitude to God for his
care for me during my recent surgeries and with gratitude,
as well, to all those who prayed for me in the last three
months. So many people have written, and I am also aware
of the prayers that have been offered for me in the parish
churches of the Archdiocese. To all of you, my deepest
thanks.
Many of you have undergone similar experiences in your
health. Letters from those who have had operations for
cancer have been filled with good advice and concern. In a
crisis, we discover again that the Church exists in the relationships of faith and love shaped by our prayers for one
another and in the sharing that wells up from the overflowing of Christ's gifts in our hearts. I hope I can keep focused
on this truth as I continue to recover and as we work together to strengthen Christ's body, the Church, in the future.

Mark 20:46-52
The past few Sundays, we have read
about Jesus’ call to humility, service,
and lowliness. Jesus’ encounter with
the rich young man and James and
John’s request emphasize both the impossibility of following
the Lord on our own strength and God’s abundant generosity in enabling us to do things that are beyond our natural
ability. In these stories, we meet people whose responses
fell short of what Jesus was looking for. But in today’s story
of blind Bartimaeus, we are introduced to someone who
understood.
Jesus asked Bartimaeus the same question he asked
James and John: “What do you want me to do for you?” He
knew that they would only ask of him the things they believed he could accomplish, and this would reveal who they
really thought he was. Was Jesus just a good and wise
teacher? Was he king who promoted his loyal followers? Or
was he the Son of David who could perform the miraculous
with a word of command?
Bartimaeus asked for something that he could not accomplish on his own, while James and John asked for something they felt they could live up to. To petition in our weakness and need is harder for us, because it requires humility
as well as faith. Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus despite the
crowd’s rebuke. He saw his helplessness, but he also
trusted that Jesus would answer him.
We all have different needs: physical, financial, relational,
and spiritual. No matter what our need, however, Jesus can
help us if we cry out to him. The world often rebukes simple
faith in God, but God never does. So cry out to Jesus today
as Bartimaeus did. Be humble but confident. Trust that what
is impossible for you is possible for him. Jesus asks us:
“What do you want me to do for you?”
“LORD JESUS, OPEN MY EYES TO SEE YOU TODAY. I
CRY OUT TO YOU BELIEVING THAT YOU WILL ANSWER MY PRAYER FOR HEALING, FOR PEACE, AND
FOR SALVATION. SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON
ME.”

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Escribo esto con una profunda sensación de gratitud a
Dios por el cuidado que me tuvo durante mis recientes
cirugías y con gratitud, también, a todos aquellos que
oraron por mí en los últimos tres meses. Me escribieron muchísimas personas y también sé que en las
parroquias de la Arquidiócesis se ofrecieron oraciones
por mi salud. A todos ustedes, les envío mi más profundo agradecimiento.
Muchos de ustedes han tenido experiencias similares
de salud. Las cartas de aquellos que han tenido operaciones de cáncer estuvieron llenas de buenos consejos
y de preocupación. En una crisis, descubrimos de
nuevo que la Iglesia existe en las relaciones de fe y
amor moldeadas por las oraciones que hacemos los
unos por los otros y por el compartir que mana del
sobre flujo de dones que Cristo da a nuestros corazones. Espero poder concentrarme en esta verdad mientras continúo recuperándome y trabajando, junto con
ustedes, para fortalecer el cuerpo de Cristo, la Iglesia,
para el futuro.

Gdy Jezus wraz z uczniami i sporym tłumem wychodził
z Jerycha, niewidomy żebrak, Bartymeusz, syn Tymeusza, siedział przy drodze. Ten słysząc, że to jest Jezus z Nazaretu, zaczął wołać: Jezusie, Synu Dawida,
ulituj się nade mną! Wielu nastawało na niego, żeby
umilkł. Lecz on jeszcze głośniej wołał: Synu Dawida,
ulituj się nade mną! Jezus przystanął i rzekł: Zawołajcie
go! I przywołali niewidomego, mówiąc mu: Bądź dobrej
myśli, wstań, woła cię. On zrzucił z siebie płaszcz,
zerwał się i przyszedł do Jezusa. A Jezus przemówił
do niego: Co chcesz, abym ci uczynił? Powiedział Mu
niewidomy: Rabbuni, żebym przejrzał. Jezus mu rzekł:
Idź, twoja wiara cię uzdrowiła. Natychmiast przejrzał i
szedł za Nim drogą.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie,
Piszę ten list z poczuciem głębokiej wdzięczności Panu Bogu za Jego opiekę podczas mojej operacji i z wyrazem wdzięczności, również, do wszystkich tych, którzy modlili się za
mnie przez ostatnie trzy miesiące. Wiele ludzi
wysłało listy do mnie. Zdaję sobie z tego
sprawę jak wiele modlitw było zmówionych
w mojej intencji w kościołach parafialnych
Archidiecezji. Dla was wszystkich przesyłam
moje najgłębsze podziękowanie.
Wielu z was przeszło podobne poważne kryzysy zdrowotne. W listach od tych, którzy
mieli operacje na raka otrzymywałem wiele
dobrych rad i wyrazy trosk. W kryzysach,
odkrywamy znowu, że Kościół istnieje w stosunkach wiary i miłości ukształtowanej przez
nasze modlitwy jeden za drugiego i w uczestnictwie w pełności zalewających nas darów
Chrystusa w naszych sercach. Mam nadzieję,
że będę wstanie koncentrować się nad tą
prawdą, w przyszłości, podczas mojej dalszej
rekonwalescencji, jak również podczas naszej
pracy nad wzmacnianiem Ciała Chrystusowego, Kościoła.
Niech Bóg błogosławi was i tych, których
kochacie.

Uroczystość Wszystkich Świętych
Papież Jan XI w roku 935 ustanowił osobne święto ku
czci Wszystkich Świętych, wyznaczając je na dzień 1
listopada.
Tak więc tajemnica dnia dzisiejszego przypomina nam
przede wszystkim tych Świętych Pańskich, którzy nie

Przypominamy, że w każdą trzecią niedzielę miesiąca w naszej parafii po
Mszy św. o godz. 10.30
odbywa się kurs przygotowujący rodziców i
chrzestnych do chrztu
dziecka.
Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić dziecko w naszej
parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się na ten kurs
prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać,
aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej półtora miesiąca prze chrztem. (Aby
uczestniczyć w kursie przygotowującym)
► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt urodzenia dziecka.
