“Therefore, I say to you, the Kingom of God will be taken away
from you and given to a people that will produce its
fruits.” (Matthew 21:43)
This final line from today’ Gospel continues to challenge us, as
have the scriptures for the past several weeks. It asks us to
remember what happened when we were baptized. We were
christened, we put on Jesus Christ; the mission of Christ was
made our own. As followers of Jesus we are to nurture and sustain our relationships, pray for those who are in need, support
justice efforts, and make our workplaces and homes places of
peace and respect.
Consider this week exactly what you are doing in your life to
produce fruit for the Kingdom of God.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In the midst of a lengthy political
campaign, matters of public policy that
are also moral issues sometimes are
misrepresented or are presented in a
partial or manipulative fashion. While
everyone could be expected to know
the Church’s position on the immorality of abortion and the role of law in
protecting unborn children, it seems
some profess not to know it and others, even in the Church, dispute it. Since this teaching has recently been falsely presented, the
following clarification may be helpful.
The Catholic Church, from its first days, condemned the aborting
of unborn children as gravely sinful. Not only Scripture’s teaching
about God’s protection of life in the womb (consider the prophets
and the psalms and the Gospel stories about John the Baptist and
Jesus himself in Mary’s womb) but also the first century catechism
(the Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles) said: “You shall
not slay the child by abortions. You shall not kill what is generated.”
The teaching of the Church was clear in a Roman Empire that permitted abortion. This same teaching has been constantly reiterated
in every place and time up to Vatican II, which condemned abortion
as a “heinous crime.” This is true today and will be so tomorrow.
Any other comments, by politicians, professors, pundits or the occasional priest, are erroneous and cannot be proposed in good
faith.
This teaching has consequences for those charged with caring
for the common good, those who hold public office. The unborn
child, who is alive and is a member of the human family, cannot
defend himself or herself. Good law defends the defenseless. Our
present laws permit unborn children to be privately killed. Laws that
place unborn children outside the protection of law destroy both the
children killed and the common good, which is the controlling principle of Catholic social teaching. One cannot favor the legal status
quo on abortion and also be working for the common good.
This explains why the abortion issue will not disappear and why it is
central to the Church’s teaching on a just social order. The Church
does not endorse candidates for office, but she does teach the
principles according to which Catholics should form their social
consciences. The teaching, which covers intrinsic evils such as
abortion and many other issues that are matters of prudential judgment, could not be clearer; the practice often falls short because
we are all sinners. There is no room for self-righteousness in
Catholic moral teaching.
The Conference of Bishops in this country and the Bishops of
Illinois have issued statements about Catholic social teaching and
political life. They are available in our parishes. All of us should
keep our country and all the candidates for office in the next election in our prayers. God bless you and your families.

Respect Life Sunday
Sometimes our
country seems like a
vineyard which has
gone to seed. Where
once fertile hillsides
and rich vines grew,
we find nothing but wild grapes. Our country was
founded on the belief that God had granted an inalienable right to life to every human being Yet the
easy accessibility of abortion on demand, our lack of
concern for the elderly and those most vulnerable
seem to be signs of a nation gone astray.
Such was the condition of Jerusalem in the time of
the prophet Isaiah, when God asks them what he
has done to deserve this sad state of affairs, and
threatens to let the thorns and briars take over this
wild vineyard, where he looks for justice and sees
only bloodshed.
A HOLY HOUR FOR LIFE will be held on Friday, October
17th at 7:30pm at Divine Infant Parish, 1601 Newcastle in
Westchester, IL. Please consider attending this holy hour
to combat the culture of death as prayers will be said before the Blessed Sacrament entreating God’s grace for
human life.

En aquel tiempo, dijo Jesús a los sumos sacerdotes y a los
ancianos del pueblo: Escuchad otra parábola: Había un
propietario que plantó una viña, la rodeó con una cerca,
cavó en ella un lagar, construyó la casa del guarda, la
arrendó a unos labradores y se marchó de viaje. Llegado el
tiempo de la vendimia, envió sus criados a los labradores,
para percibir los frutos que le correspondían. Pero los labradores, agarrando a los criados, apalearon a uno, mataron a
otro, y a otro lo apedrearon. Envió de nuevo otros criados,
más que la primera vez, e hicieron con ellos lo mismo. Por
último les mandó a su hijo, diciéndose: "Tendrán respeto a
mi hijo." Pero los labradores, al ver al hijo, se dijeron: "Éste
es el heredero: venid, lo matamos y nos quedamos con su
herencia." Y, agarrándolo, lo empujaron fuera de la viña y lo
mataron. Y ahora, cuando vuelva el dueño de la viña, ¿qué
hará con aquellos labradores? Le contestaron: Hará morir
de mala muerte a esos malvados y arrendará la viña a otros
labradores, que le entreguen los frutos a sus tiempos.» Y
Jesús les dice: ¿No habéis leído nunca en la Escritura?: "La
piedra que desecharon los arquitectos es ahora la piedra
angular. Es el Señor quien lo ha hecho, ha sido un milagro
patente" Por eso os digo que se os quitará a vosotros el
reino de Dios y se dará a un pueblo que produzca sus frutos.

En el evangelio de Lucas, Cristo nos recuerda que todo lo que
somos y tenemos nos ha sido concedido como don de Dios. Debemos hacer crecer nuestros dones y regresarlos generosamente
para ser empleados en la obra de Dios.
Los dones de nuestro tiempo, talento y dinero a nuestra parroquia y a nuestra Arquidiócesis son una parte importante de nuestro compromiso de administrar bien los dones de Dios. Quienes
han contribuido a la Apelación Católica Anual de 2008 no sólo

NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL ROSARIO
Su fiesta fue instituida por el Papa san Pío V
el 7 de Octubre, aniversario de la victoria
obtenida por los cristianos en la Batalla naval
de Lepanto (1571), atribuida a la Madre de
Dios, invocada por la oración del rosario. La
celebración de este día es una invitación
para todos a meditar los misterios de Cristo,
en compañía de la Virgen María, que estuvo
asociada de un modo especialísimo a la encarnación, la pasión y la
gloria de la resurrección del Hijo de Dios.
Historia del Rosario
Ya en el siglo IX había en Irlanda la costumbre de hacer nudos en
un cordel para contar, en vez de los salmos, las Ave Marías. Los
misioneros de Irlanda mas tarde propagaron la costumbre en Europa y hubieron varios desarrollos con el tiempo. Santo Domingo busca las ovejas perdidas. La Madre de Dios, en persona, le enseñó a
Sto. Domingo a rezar el rosario en el año 1208 y le dijo que propagara esta devoción y la utilizara como arma poderosa en contra de
los enemigos de la Fe.
Promesas de Nuestra Señora, Reina del Rosario, tomadas de los
escritos del Beato Alano:
1. Quien rece constantemente mi Rosario, recibirá cualquier gracia que me pida.
2. Prometo mi espacialísima protección y grandes beneficios a los
que devotamente recen mi Rosario.
3. El Rosario es el escudo contra el infierno, destruye el vicio,
libra de los pecados y abate las herejías.
4. El Rosario hace germinar las virtudes para que las almas consigan la misericordia divina. Sustituye en el corazón de los hombres el amor del mundo con el amor de Dios y los eleva a desear las cosas celestiales y eternas.
5. El alma que se me encomiende por el Rosario no perecerá.
6. El que con devoción rece mi Rosario, considerando sus sagrados misterios, no se verá oprimido por la desgracia, ni morirá de
muerte desgraciada, se convertirá si es pecador, perseverará en
gracia si es justo y, en todo caso será admitido a la vida eterna.
7. Los verdaderos devotos de mi Rosario no morirán sin los Sacramentos.
8. Todos los que rezan mi Rosario tendrán en vida y en muerte la
luz y la plenitud de la gracia y serán partícipes de los méritos
bienaventurados.
9. Libraré bien pronto del Purgatorio a las almas devotas a mi
Rosario.
10. Los hijos de mi Rosario gozarán en el cielo de una gloria singular.
11. Todo cuanto se pida por medio del Rosario se alcanzará prontamente.
12. Socorreré en sus necesidades a los que propaguen mi Rosario.
13. He solicitado a mi Hijo la gracia de que todos los cofrades y
devotos tengan en vida y en muerte como hermanos a todos los
bienaventurados de la corte celestial.
14. Los que rezan Rosario son todos hijos míos muy amados y
hermanos de mi Unigénito Jesús.
15. La devoción al Santo rosario es una señal manifiesta de predestinación de gloria.

Jezus powiedział do arcykapłanów i starszych ludu: Posłuchajcie innej przypowieści! Był pewien gospodarz,
który założył winnicę. Otoczył ją murem, wykopał w
niej tłocznię, zbudował wieżę, w końcu oddał ją w
dzierżawę rolnikom i wyjechał. Gdy nadszedł czas zbiorów, posłał swoje sługi do rolników, by odebrali plon
jemu należny. Ale rolnicy chwycili jego sługi i jednego
obili, drugiego zabili, trzeciego zaś ukamienowali. Wtedy posłał inne sługi, więcej niż za pierwszym razem,
lecz i z nimi tak samo postąpili. W końcu posłał do nich
swego syna, tak sobie myśląc: Uszanują mojego syna.
Lecz rolnicy zobaczywszy syna mówili do siebie: To
jest dziedzic; chodźcie zabijmy go, a posiądziemy jego
dziedzictwo. Chwyciwszy go, wyrzucili z winnicy i zabili. Kiedy więc właściciel winnicy przyjdzie, co uczyni
z owymi rolnikami? Rzekli Mu: Nędzników marnie wytraci, a winnicę odda w dzierżawę innym rolnikom, takim, którzy mu będą oddawali plon we właściwej porze.
Jezus im rzekł: Czy nigdy nie czytaliście w Piśmie:
Właśnie ten kamień, który odrzucili budujący, stał się
głowicą węgła. Pan to sprawił, i jest cudem w naszych
oczach. Dlatego powiadam wam: Królestwo Boże będzie wam zabrane, a dane narodowi, który wyda jego
owoce.

Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka 2008
„Wykonaliśmy to, co powinniśmy wykonać.”Łk 17:5,10
W Ewangeli Św. Łukasza, Chrystus przypomina nam,
że wszystko, czym jesteśmy i wszystko, co posiadamy
to dary od Boga. Zadaniem naszym jest ich pomnażanie
i hojne ofiarowywanie do wykorzystania w dziele Bożym.
Ofiary w postaci poświęconego czasu, talentu i środków
finansowych na rzecz parafii oraz Archidiecezji stanowią w dużej mierze o naszym zaangażowaniu się we
właściwe wykorzystanie darów Bożych. Ofiary od osób
biorących udział w Dorocznej Kweście Katolickiej 2008
świadczą nie tylko o ich gospodarności, ale i o ich hojności na rzecz kontynuowania tak potrzebnych posług i
usług zapewnianych przez Archidiecezję.

Dzisiejsze wspomnienie zostało
ustanowione na pamiątkę zwycięstwa floty chrześcijańskiej nad
wojskami tureckimi, odniesionego
pod Lepanto (nad Zatoką Koryncką) 7 października 1571 r. Sułtan
turecki Selim II pragnął podbić
całą Europę i zaprowadzić w niej
wiarę muzułmańską. Ówczesny papież - św. Pius V, dominikanin, gorący czciciel Matki Bożej - usłyszawszy o
zbliżającej się wojnie, ze łzami w oczach zaczął zanosić
żarliwe modlitwy do Maryi, powierzając jej swą troskę
podczas odmawiania różańca. Nagle doznał wizji: zdawało mu się, że znalazł się na miejscu bitwy pod Lepanto. Zobaczył ogromne floty, przygotowujące się do starcia. Nad nimi ujrzał Maryję, która patrzyła na niego spokojnym wzrokiem. Nieoczekiwana zmiana wiatru uniemożliwiła manewry muzułmanom, a sprzyjała flocie
chrześcijańskiej. Udało się powstrzymać inwazję Turków
na Europę.
Zwycięstwo było ogromne. Po zaledwie czterech godzinach walki zatopiono sześćdziesiąt galer wroga, zdobyto
połowę okrętów tureckich, uwolniono dwanaście tysięcy
chrześcijańskich galerników; śmierć poniosło 27 tys.
Turków, kolejne 5 tys. dostało się do niewoli. Pius V,
świadom, komu zawdzięcza cudowne ocalenie Europy,
uczynił dzień 7 października świętem Matki Bożej Różańcowej i zezwolił na jego obchodzenie w tych kościołach, w których istniały Bractwa Różańcowe. Klemens
XI, w podzięce za kolejne zwycięstwo nad Turkami odniesione pod Belgradem w 1716 r., rozszerzył to święto
na cały Kościół. W roku 1883 Leon XIII wprowadził do
Litanii Loretańskiej wezwanie "Królowo Różańca świętego - módl się za nami", a w dwa lata później zalecił, by
w kościołach odmawiano różaniec przez cały październik.
Liturgiczne wspomnienie Matki Bożej Różańcowej staje
się okazją do odnowienia i pogłębienia modlitwy różańcowej. Z pewnością nie jest to łatwa modlitwa, zwłaszcza
dla współczesnego człowieka, ciągle zabieganego i niespokojnego. Jednak modlitwa ta wydaje się być skutecznym środkiem ratowania współczesnego świata i człowieka. Historia uczy, że wielokrotnie różaniec okazał się
wielką pomocą w różnych niebezpieczeństwach. Tak było w przypadku zwycięstwa pod Lepanto czy też w przypadku obrony Wiednia. Całe ówczesne rycerstwo polskie
należało do bractw różańcowych, a w Krakowie przed
bitwą odbywały się procesje różańcowe i pod przewodnictwem królowej Marysieńki trwała nieustająca modlitwa różańcowa.

Wypominki
Zbliża się miesiąc listopad. W tym czasie będziemy wspominali wszystkich
wiernych zmarłych. Koperty na wypominki znajdują
się przy drzwiach kościoła.
Prosimy o wyraźne wypisanie imion i nazwisk wiernych zmarłych. Koperty można składać do koszyka wraz z niedzielną kolekta. Msze św. w tych intencjach
zostaną odprawione dnia 2 listopada jak również w ciągu całego roku.

Radia Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz
miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
