This weekend the Early Bird Raffle for
a GPS will be held at the 10:00 AM
Mass.
The final Early Bird Raffle will take
place on Sunday, August 8th at the
5PM Mass. The prize is an IPod Nano.
In order to be eligible for the Early Bird
raffles, you must sell all 20 raffle tickets in the Parish raffle book
and payment of $100 for them must be received before the Early Bird Drawings. The cover of the raffle book is used for the
drawing. More raffle tickets can be obtained from the parish
rectory office during office hours – 9AM to 5PM.
We ask our parishioners again (as we
have in the past) to donate any of the following items for our parish Carnival and
Summer Fest. Your support has been
tremendous in the past! Can we count on

our holy faith in the mission lands as well as the needs of the

Pope Benedict XVI declared a year of the priest
in an effort to encourage
"spiritual perfection" in
priests.
The pope opened the
special year with a vespers service at the Vatican June 19th— the
feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the day for the sanctification
of priests. He will close the celebrations during a World Meeting of
Priests in St. Peter's Square June 19, 2010.
During this jubilee year, the pope proclaimed St. John Vianney to
be patron saint of all the world's priests. At present he is considered the patron saint of parish priests.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the death of this 19thcentury saint who represents a "true example of a priest at the service of the flock of Christ," the pope said.
In his address, Pope Benedict said the priestly ministry consists
of total adherence to the ecclesial tradition of participating "in a
spiritually intense new life and a new lifestyle which was inaugurated by the Lord Jesus and which the apostles made their own."
Priestly ordination creates new men who are bestowed with the
gift and office of sanctifying, teaching and governing, he said. The
pope underlined the necessary and "indispensable struggle for
moral perfection which must dwell in every authentically priestly
heart."
The pope said he was calling for the special year for priests in an
effort to foster the priest's yearning "for spiritual perfection, upon
which the effectiveness of their ministry principally depends."Priests must be "present, identifiable and recognizable -- for
their judgment of faith, their personal virtues and their attire -- in the
fields of culture and charity which have always been at the heart of
the church's mission," he said.

Gospel: Mark 6:7-13
Jesus instructs his disciples and sends
them to preach repentance.
This week's Gospel and the one for next
week describe how Jesus sent the disciples
to minister in his name and the disciples'
return to Jesus afterward. These two passages, however, are
not presented together in Mark's Gospel. Inserted between
the two is the report of Herod's fears that Jesus is John the
Baptist back from the dead. In Mark's Gospel, Jesus' ministry
is presented in connection with the teaching of John the Baptist. Jesus' public ministry begins after John is arrested. John
the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, who preached the
fulfillment of the Kingdom of God.
While we do not read these details about John the Baptist in
our Gospel this week or next week, our Lectionary sequence
stays consistent with Mark's theme. Recall that last week we
heard how Jesus was rejected in his hometown of Nazareth.
The insertion of the reminder about John the Baptist's ministry
and his death at the hands of Herod in Mark's Gospel makes
a similar point. Mark reminds his readers about this dangerous context for Jesus' ministry and that of his disciples.
Preaching repentance and the Kingdom of God is dangerous
business for Jesus and for his disciples. Mark wants his readers to remember that we, too, may find resistance as we
choose to be disciples of Jesus.
Mark's Gospel tells us that Jesus sent out the Twelve.
These twelve were selected from among Jesus' disciples and
named by Mark in chapter 3. Mark notes that these twelve are
also called “apostles.” The word apostle means “one who is
sent.” The number twelve is also a symbolic number, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. By naming twelve apostles,
Jesus shows his mission to be in continuity with the mission
of God's people, Israel.
Jesus' instructions to the apostles are very specific. He repeats the mission that they are sent to preach and to share
his authority to heal and to drive out demons. Jesus sends
them in pairs, establishing his mission as a communal endeavor. Jesus also instructs them to travel lightly, without the
customary food, money, and extra set of clothes. These instructions mean that the Twelve will be dependent on the hospitality of others, just as Jesus depended on others to provide
for his needs.
Jesus continues to send us into the world as his disciples.
But like the first disciples, we are not sent alone. Jesus has
given us the community of the Church, which strengthens our
life of discipleship. The Christian message can only authentically be proclaimed in and through the community of faith that
is the Church. In our work with others, we build this community of faith and can invite others to share in it.

más, pero ni pan ni alforja, ni dinero suelto en la faja;
que llevasen sandalias, pero no, túnica de repuesto. Y
añadió: Quedaos en la casa donde entréis, hasta que
os vayáis de aquel sitio. Y si un lugar no os recibe ni
os escucha, al marcharos sacudíos el polvo de los
pies, para probar su culpa. Ellos salieron a predicar la
conversión, echaban muchos demonios, ungían con
aceite a muchos enfermos y los curaban.

MONICIÓN SOBRE LAS LECTURAS
1.- La primera lectura nos habla del profeta Amós. Un profeta,
es un hombre que tiene una vocación irresistible, ha sido capaz
de decir sí a Dios, aunque sabía lo que le esperaba. Un profeta,
habla el lenguaje de la libertad porque no depende de nadie; las
órdenes las recibe de Dios. Quiere quitarse de encima lo que le
desagrada hacer, pero aunque quiere no puede resistirse a lo que
Dios le pide y, pase lo que pase, irá a profetizar al pueblo.
2.- La segunda lectura –de la Carta de Pablo a los Efesios--es
una alabanza salida de un corazón que ha experimentado a Dios.
Parece como si el hombre fiel a la palabra de Dios –profeta en
definitiva-- hubiera explotado en un canto al Señor por el que
vive.
3.- El evangelio de hoy nos habla del envío. Del encargo para
cumplir una misión. No podemos guardarnos el mensaje y quedarnos parados. Tenemos que ser signo de la presencia de Dios
en el mundo. Él nos dará su gracia para que esto se haga realidad en cada uno de nosotros. Y eso es lo que con palabras maravillosas nos dice San Marcos en su relato que vamos a escuchar.

Fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen 16 de julio
La Virgen Inmaculada, Estrella del Mar,
es la Virgen del Carmen, es decir a la que
desde tiempos remotos se venera en el
Carmelo. Ella acompañó a los Carmelitas
a medida que la orden se propagó por el
mundo. A los Carmelitas se les conoce
por su devoción a la Madre de Dios, ya
que en ella ven el cumplimiento del ideal
de Elías. Incluso se le llamó: "Los hermanos de Nuestra
Señora del Monte Carmelo". En su profesión religiosa se
consagraban a Dios y a María, y tomaban el hábito en
honor ella, como un recordatorio de que sus vidas le pertenecían a ella, y por ella, a Cristo.
Las Hermanas Misioneras de San Pedro Claver vendrán a
nuestra parroquia prójimo Domingo con sus revistas misioneras. Ellas quieren su colaboración en evangelización del
mundo a través de subscripción de revista: Eco de las Misiones. Esta revista los tendrá bien informados del progreso
de nuestra fe en las misiones, y de las actividades y necesidades de los misioneros. Ayudando a las Hermanas Ustedes
participaran en las oraciones y apostolado misionero de la
Iglesia y aumentaran en las obras misioneras en Reino Divino.

XV Niedziela w Ciągu Roku
Jezus przywołał do siebie Dwunastu i zaczął rozsyłać
ich po dwóch. Dał im też władzę nad duchami nieczystymi i przykazał im, żeby nic z sobą nie brali na drogę
prócz laski: ani chleba, ani torby, ani pieniędzy w trzosie. Ale idźcie obuci w sandały i nie wdziewajcie dwóch
sukien. I mówił do nich: Gdy do jakiego domu wejdziecie, zostańcie tam, aż stamtąd wyjdziecie. Jeśli w jakim
miejscu was nie przyjmą i nie będą słuchać, wychodząc
stamtąd strząśnijcie proch z nóg waszych na świadectwo
dla nich. Oni więc wyszli i wzywali do nawrócenia. Wyrzucali też wiele złych duchów oraz wielu chorych namaszczali olejem i uzdrawiali.

Szkaplerz karmelitański
Dzisiejsze wspomnienie zwraca nas
ku Maryi objawiającej się na górze
Karmel, znanej już z tekstów Starego
Testamentu - z historii proroka Eliasza (1 Krl 17, 1 - 2 Krl 2, 25). W XII
wieku po Chrystusie do Europy przybyli, prześladowani przez Turków,
duchowi synowie Eliasza, prowadzący życie kontemplacyjne na Karmelu. Również w Europie spotykali się z niechęcią. Jednakże Stolica Apostolska, doceniając wyrzeczenia i umartwienia, jakie podejmowali zakonnicy, ułatwiała
zakładanie nowych klasztorów.
Szczególnie szybko zakon rozwijał się w Anglii, do czego przyczynił się m.in. wielki czciciel Maryi, św. Szymon Stock, szósty przełożony generalny zakonu karmelitów. Wielokrotnie błagał on Maryję o ratunek dla zakonu. W czasie jednej z modlitw w Cambridge, w nocy z 15 na 16 lipca 1251 r., ujrzał Bożą Rodzicielkę w
otoczeniu Aniołów. Podała mu Ona brązową szatę, wypowiadając
jednocześnie słowa:
Przyjmij, synu, szkaplerz twego zakonu, jako znak mego braterstwa, przywilej dla ciebie i wszystkich karmelitów. Kto w nim
umrze, nie zazna ognia piekielnego. Oto znak zbawienia, ratunek
w niebezpieczeństwach, przymierze pokoju i wiecznego zobowiązania.
Szkaplerz początkowo był wierzchnią szatą, której używali dawni
mnisi w czasie codziennych zajęć, aby nie brudzić habitu. Spełniał więc rolę fartucha gospodarczego. Potem przez szkaplerz
rozumiano szatę nałożoną na habit. Pisze o nim już reguła św.
Benedykta w kanonie 55 dotyczącym ubrania i obuwia braci.
Wszystkie dawne zakony noszą po dzień dzisiejszy szkaplerz.
Współcześnie szkaplerz oznacza strój, który jest znakiem zewnętrznym przynależności do bractwa, związanego z jakimś konkretnym zakonem. Tak więc istnieje szkaplerz: brunatny - karmelitański (w. XIII); czarny - serwitów (w. XIV), od roku 1860 kamilianów; biały - trynitarzy, mercedariuszów (w. XIV), Niepokalanego
Serca Maryi (od roku 1900); niebieski - teatynów (od roku 1617) i

Niepokalanego Poczęcia Maryi (w. XIX); czerwony - męki Pańskiej; fioletowy - lazarystów (1847) i żółty - św. Józefa (w. XIX).
Ponieważ było niewygodnie nosić szkaplerz taki, jaki nosili przedstawiciele danego zakonu, dlatego z biegiem lat zamieniono go
na dwa małe kawałki płótna, zazwyczaj z odpowiednim wizerunkiem na nich. Na dwóch tasiemkach noszono go w ten sposób, że
jedno płócienko było na plecach (stąd nazwa łacińska scapulare),
a druga na piersi. Taką formę zachowały szkaplerze do dnia dzisiejszego. W roku 1910 papież św. Pius X zezwolił ze względów
praktycznych na zastąpienie szkaplerza medalikiem szkaplerznym.
W przypadku szkaplerza karmelitańskiego na jednym kawałku
powinien być umieszczony wizerunek Matki Bożej Szkaplerznej, a
na drugim - Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa. Jedna część powinna spoczywać na piersiach, a druga - na plecach. Szkaplerz
musi być poświęcony według specjalnego obrzędu.
Szkaplerz, będący znakiem maryjnym, zobowiązuje do chrześcijańskiego życia, ze szczególnym ukierunkowaniem na uczczenie
Najświętszej Maryi Dziewicy potwierdzanym codzienną modlitwą
