Invitation
To participate in the conference:
“Science for Industry: Necessity is the mother of invention”
Third Networking Event dedicated to the Polish experience
in the field of shale gas exploration
organized by the Institute of Geological Sciences
of Polish Academy of Sciences (ING PAN)
within the framework of ATLAB project
June 25th – 27th, 2014
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We kindly invite you to participate in the conference devoted on the development and
strengthening of collaboration among scientific, industrial and public sectors in the wide area
of application of modern methods and techniques in geosystem exploration and environment
protection and monitoring.
This event we would like to dedicate to the Polish achievements in exploration and
investigation in the field of natural energy resources such as first of all shale gas –
considered as of strategic potential for economic and political reasons.
Recent achievements in exploration and investigation of other natural resources (oil and gas,
coal, thermal waters) will be also presented.
This third networking-event-type conference is addressed to different types of private and
governmental companies, research institutions and stake-holder connected with various
aspects of exploration of geological environment, exploration and sustainable utilization of
shale gas and other natural resources, exploration, utilization and protection of environment.
Various aspects of legal and official possibilities of science-industry collaboration, funding
opportunities as well as scientific research commercialization will be presented and
discussed.
Also the newest, cutting-edge research opportunities in the Institute of Geological Sciences
will be introduced.
During the last day of the conference the professional workshop concerning team building in
science, business and administration will be offered.

Conference objectives:
1) Benchmarking of the Polish experiences and achievements in the field of shale gas
exploration
2) Familiarization of participants with the research on geosystem exploration applied in the
Institute of Geological Sciences (ING PAN), with special focus on shale gas exploration
as well as other energy resources.
3) Familiarization of participants with variable problems connected with sophisticated
works, research and legal aspects during Shale Gas exploration and utilization in
different geological systems and social environments.
4) Learning about actual demands for innovative research and technologies in the field of
geological recognition and environmental system description;
5) Learning of important aspects concerning the ways and possibilities of financial support
acquisition for joint scientific-industrial ventures and projects in Poland and European
Union.
6) Seeking possibilities of mutual collaboration among scientific and industrial sector in
various forms, e.g. large innovative projects with external financial support, consulting,
analytical services, experts’ reports, etc.
7) The newest analytical equipment, sampling and measurement technologies for
environmental applications available on the market: companies presentations and
exhibitions.
