The objects of Kopalnia i Zakład Wzbogacania Kwarcytu „Bukowa Góra” S.A. (KiZWK „Bukowa Góra”
S.A.) are the extraction and processing of quartzite sandstone used as a base in road and railroad
surface construction and in the production of non-structural concrete, as well as industrial quartzite
used in metallurgy and refractory industry. The company specialises in the production of washed
aggregates (grit, key aggregates, breakstone and industrial quartzite). The company’s share in the
Polish building and road stone market is estimated to amount to approx. 1% – 1.5%. KiZWK
„Bukowa Góra” S.A. is well established on the market of aggregate and industrial quartzite
production. Among the company’s key customers and suppliers are companies operating in the rail
and road works industry, concrete manufacturers, metallurgical companies, refractory ceramics
manufacturers and a variety of other entities. The company conducts its sales mainly on the
domestic market. Currently, the annual output is approximately 900 thousand megatons. The
major assumptions behind the company’s development strategy for the upcoming years include:

generating stable profits from core activities

gaining greater independence from the current economic circumstances
●
modernising technological line to increase the quality and quantity of production
●
finding a strategic investor.
Construction of motorways, express roads and railway lines brings about an increase in the
demand for primary building materials manufactured in Poland. Therefore, the construction of new
communication routes is the major factor shaping the demand for road construction materials,
including the demand for aggregates. The main area of company’s operations is the market of
aggregates used in general construction as well as in road and railroad engineering. The demand
for aggregates is likely to grow due to the implementation of the national road construction
programme. The demand for construction aggregates is closely correlated with the level of
investment expenditures in the areas of: residential and industrial construction; construction,
repair and modernisation of railway network and the construction, repair and modernisation of
roads. An important factor shaping the demand in construction industry over the next few years is
the organisation of the UEFA European Football Championships which will be held in Poland and
Ukraine in 2012.
