time are you investing in building up a worldly treasure? How
much time are you investing in building up a heavenly treasure?

OUR FATHER IN FAITH
The Letter to the Hebrews today sings a hymn of praise to
Abraham and to his faith, upon
which are founded the religions of
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Abraham is called “father” in
faith by more people on earth than anybody else, numerous as
the sands of the seashore or the stars of the heavens. Hebrews
tells us it was this foundational faith that led Abraham to obey
God’s call when he heard it, though he was called to journey to
a land he did not know and told he would father a mighty race
through a marriage he thought was barren. But Abraham’s
faith, the author of Hebrews tells us, was his realization of what
he hoped for, and the evidence of what he could not see. How
often are we, in simple daily events of our own Christian vocation, called to an unfamiliar place or told we are to do something we do not believe we can? How fortunate we are to have
Father Abraham as our guide and example!
DEVOTION TO THE DIVINE MERCY
This Sunday, August 7th we will celebrate the merciful love
of Jesus Christ as we pray for special graces needed in our lives
and in the world. Jesus said to St. Faustina, “Through the
Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for will be
compatible with my will”.
Please make an effort to join us to spend an hour with Jesus
for this meaningful devotion to the Divine Mercy followed by
Benediction.

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
Last Sunday’s “Parable of the rich fool” delivered a compelling reason to do the right thing—now: “You fool, this night
your life will be demanded of you”. Today, Jesus warns us:
“You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect,
the Son of Man will come”. Though we do not know when our
Master will come, we do know what our Master expects to find.
Jesus expects us to be vigilant and diligent in our work for the
kingdom, but also filled with reverent mercy toward our fellow
servants and ourselves. Hopefully, Jesus’ warning not to get
drunk and beat each other up does not apply to us literally! But
what changes do I need to make, right now, so that the many
people outside “the Master’s house” will want to come inside to
experience the healing comfort of Jesus’ own mercy in the
compassion of Jesus’ modern-day disciples?
SAVE THE DATE - The Foundation for Life Gala will be
held on Friday, August 19th from 5:30—9:00pm at St. John’s
Seminary in Brighton. We will honor Msgr. James Moroney,
Rector at the Seminary with the “Devotion Award” and also
recognize our Felician Sisters for their 125 years of dedicated
service to our School. Donation is $250. Profit from this event
will benefit the St. Joseph School Gymnasium.
The Executive Gym Committee is encouraged by this renewed interest and generous donations of outside individuals as
well as our parishioners. The St. John Seminary fundraiser
offers the opportunity to parishioners and our school parents to
extend a helping hand. Our solidarity in a common purpose
and harmonious work will determine the future of our school
and perhaps our parish. Please call the rectory to reserve a
ticket. Bus service to the Seminary will be provided free of
charge.
REFLECTIONS OF WORLD YOUTH DAY
The 2016 World Youth Day in Poland shined as a beam of
light in a world that is beseeched by tragedies and disasters.
About 1.5 million young people from 182 countries took part in
this gathering of young adults. Pope Francis spent five days in
Poland visiting the Shrines of the Divine Mercy, John Paul II,
Our Lady of Czestochowa and also prayed silently at the
Auschwitz concentration camp. To the delight of many, he
visited a children’s hospital and engaged in personal conversation which was received with enthusiasm. Pope Francis took
special time to recognize several thousand volunteers who were
instrumental to the success of this event.
About 575,000 reporters provided detailed coverage for their
respective countries. Our Bishop, Robert McManus was selected as one of thirteen as a Catechesis in the English language
on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Exhausted but happy,
Pope Francis returned to the Vatican on Sunday evening.
In private meetings with Bishops, Pope Francis lamented that
children are being taught at school that gender can be a choice
which is an annihilation of man as an image of God. Pope
Francis blamed this “ideological colonizing“ backed by “very
influential countries”.
DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH
Summer time is usually a hectic time in our lives but we
should try to make a special effort to set aside an hour on
Wednesday, Aug. 10th at 7:00pm to participate in our weekly
devotion and novena to our Patron. This is an opportune time
to turn to St. Joseph to intercede for needed blessings and favors for not only ourselves but also for our loved ones.
Our Eucharistic Ministers will assist in bringing St. Joseph’s
statue into the sanctuary. Please note your petitions on paper
provided in the Chapel to be read during Mass. Your donations
will be gladly accepted.
The Icon of the Divine Mercy - is waiting in our sanctuary
to be brought into a loving home for veneration and prayer with
your loved ones. The presence of the Icon and the recitation of
the Chaplet grants the faithful, who with a contrite heart, pray
to the merciful Lord Jesus. Please call the rectory to set a convenient time for you.
Friday Night Bingo - to be held on Friday, August 12 at St.
Joseph School Cafeteria. Come and join our ardent bingo fans
for an evening of camaraderie and excitement. Doors open at
5:00pm and games begin at 6:45pm.
Members of the Knights of Columbus will be on hand to assist our players. Proceeds benefit St. Joseph Parish.
CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION
We invite parishioners, friends, members of our organizations and parish ministries, Children of Mary and altar servers
to join us on Saturday, August 13th at 7:00pm honoring Our
Lady of Fatima. We will pray the rosary during an outdoor
procession (weather permitting).
In this time of worldly turmoil, we should remember Our
Blessed Mother’s message that the rosary is the key to personal
and international peace.
The flowers placed at the Blessed Mother altar are given in
memory of Henry Sabaj by his Daughter, Betty.
SAINT MAXIMILIAN KOLBE
Next Sunday, we will commemorate the 75th anniversary of
the martyrdom of Maximilian Kolbe. He was born in Poland
and joined the Franciscan Monastery and dedicated his service
to God and under the special patronage of the Blessed Virgin
Mary. Maximilian was ordained a priest on April 28, 1918 and
chose to become a missionary in Rome, Japan and India. But
poor health curtailed his missionary work and he returned to
Poland.
He was arrested by the Germans in 1939 and sent to Auschwitz prison where he stepped forward to take the place of another prisoner to be executed. On August 14, 1941, the eve of
the Feast of the Assumption of our Lady into Heaven, Father
Kolbe was martyred by a lethal dose of carbolic acid.
Pope Paul VI beatified Father Kolbe and on October 10,
1982, he was canonized by John Paul II and declared the
“Patron Saint of Our Difficult Century,” and a “Martyr of Charity”. St. Kolbe is depicted in prison garb on the ceiling of our
Basilica in one of the murals.

ewangeliczny program na życie,
którego cel wyznaczył Bóg, a środki do niego prowadzące
dobieramy dzięki wolności i rozumowi oświecanemu przez
Ducha Świętego. „Komu wiele dano, od tego wiele wymagać
się będzie” – mówi Chrystus do uczniów. Dar życia, otrzymane
talenty, a przede wszystkim ofiara Odkupiciela są dla nas
wezwaniem do służby. One podnoszą nasze człowieczeństwo
i potwierdzają naszą godność dzieci Bożych.

KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Dzisiejszej niedzieli oddamy cześć miłości miłosiernej Jezusa Chrystusa
i będziemy modlić się Koronką do Miłosierdzia Bożego prosząc
o szczególne łaski potrzebne dla nas osobiście i dla całego świata. Jezus
powiedział do siostry Faustyny, że odmawiającym Koronkę udzieli
wszystkiego, czego potrzebują o ile jest to zbodne z jego świętą wolą.

PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Ciągle jeszcze kontynuujemy zbiórkę na tegoroczne Partners in Charity.
Dziękujemy wszystkim parafianom, którzy już odpowiedzieli na prośbę
o wsparcie najbardziej potrzebujących w naszej diecezji. Tych, którzy
jeszcze nie złożyli swojej ofiary, bardzo serdecznie prosimy o rozważenie
możliwości udzielenia pomocy bliźnim w potrzebie, emerytowanych
księży, kształcenie seminarzystów, programów pomocy zdrowotnej
i opieki dla innych.
ROK JUBILEUSZOWY
Ubiegłej niedzieli w przypowieści o „bogatym głupcze” trzymaliśmy
wyjaśnienie dlaczego powinniśmy dobre rzeczy robić w chwili obecnej:
„Głupcze, jeszcze tej nocy zażądają twojej duszy od ciebie.” Dziś zaś
ostrzega nas: „Bądźcie gotowi, gdyż o godzinie, której się nie
domyślacie, Syn Człowieczy przyjdzie.” Mimo, że nie wiemy kiedy
nasz Pan nadejdzie, wiemy czego od nas oczekuje. Chce byśmy byli czujni
i roztropni w tym, co robimy dla Królestwa Bożego oraz przepełnieni
miłosierdziem dla bliźnich i samych siebie. Szczęśliwe Jezusowe
ostrzeżenie, aby się nie upijać i nie bić współbraci, nie odnosi się do nas
dosłownie. Ale powinniśmy nieustannie zastanwiać się jakie działania
powinienem podjąć w tej chwili, tak żeby wielu ludzi, którzy są na
zewnątrz "domu pana" będzie chciało wejść do środka, aby doświadczyć
komfortu uzdrawiającego miłosierdzia Jezusa.
ŚWIATOWE DNI MŁODZIEŻY
Wielka radością napawa fakt, że tegoroczne Światowe Dni Młodzieży
rozbłysły jak promień światła w świecie, który zmaga się ze złem,
tragediami i katastrofami. Około 1,5 mln młodych ludzi ze 182 krajów
wzięło udział w tym spotkaniu młodych chrześciaj. Papież Franciszek
spędził pięć dni w Polsce. W tym czasie odwiedził Sanktuarium
Miłosierdzia Bożego, Jasną Górę, a także modlił się w milczeniu w obozie
koncentracyjnym w Oświęcimiu. Ku uciesze wielu, odwiedził również
kilkoro dzieci w szpitalu, by pocieszać chorych i cierpiących. Znalazł
również czas dla kilku tysięcy wolontariuszy, których praca była
konieczna do zorganizowania całego spotkania.
Entuzjazm i zapał jaki towarzyszył młodym ludziom w czasie tych dni
napawa nadzieją, na przyszłość Kościoła i całej ludzkości. Po tak
wspaniałym czasie pielgrzymi powrócili do swoich ojczyzn z nowa siłą i
ugruntowaną wiarą. Z pewnością o wiele łatwiej będzie im świadczyć o
Chrystusie i Jego miłości. W swoich wspomnieniach i sercach zaniosą na
cały świat również bardzo pozytywny obraz naszej ojczyzny, w której
spotkali się z tak wielką życzliwością i gdzie swobodnie mogli publicznie
manifestować swoja wiarę.
Dziękujemy Bogu za ten błogosławiony czas, za nauki przekazane nam
przez Ojca Świętego i modlimy się, by to co zaszczepił w sercach młodych
ludzi przynosiło wspaniałe owoce.

Mamy przyjemność ogłosić, że w Parafii świętego Andrzeja Boboli
odbędzie się Big Top Polish Festival. Rozpoczęcie w piątek, 26 sierpnia o
godz. 16:30 i zakończy w sobotę, 27 sierpnia, w południe.

12:30 (bilety dostępne w przedsprzedaży) polskie i amerykańskie jedzenie,

wstawiennictwo naszego Patrona. Św. Józef uczy nas modlitwy,
jak również doceniania momentów kiedy, sami, lub z rodziną, lub
też we wspólnocie zapraszamy Boga, aby stał się częścią naszego
życia. Zapraszamy wszystkich parafian i przyjaciół aby dołączyli
do wspólnej modlitwy i skorzystali z okazji do przedstawienia
swoich próśb, które są odczytywane każdorazowo w czasie
Nowenny. Warunkiem odczytania intencji jest jej czytelne
zapisanie. Dziękujemy również za wszelkie składane przy tej
okazji ofiary.
W procesji z figurą św. Józefa pójdą Szafarze Eucharystii.
ŚWIĘTY MAKSYMILIAN KOLBE
W tym tygodniu będziemy wspominać męczeństwo św.
Maksymiliana Kolbe. Urodził się w Polsce, wybrał służbę
Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. Maksymilian został wyświęcony na
kapłana i pracował na misjach w Rzymie, Japonii i Indiach, ale
słabe zdrowie zmusiło go do powrotu do Polski. Aresztowany
przez Niemców w 1939 roku i osadzony w obozie w Oświęcimiu,
gdzie na ochotnika zajął miejsce innego więźnia, który był
skazany na śmierć. W dniu 14 sierpnia 1941 roku, w przeddzień
święta Wniebowzięcia NMP ojciec Kolbe odszedł do nieba, dobity
przez zastrzyk ze śmiertelną dawkę fenolu.
Ojca Kolbe Papież został beatyfikowany przez papieża Pawła VI,
a w dniu 10 października 1982 roku papież Jan Paweł II ogłosił
swojego rodaka świętym. Wizerunek świętego Maksymilian Kolbe
w więziennym stroju znajduje się na suficie naszej Bazylice za
jednym z fresków.
UROCZYSTA GALA
Z radością i entuzjazmem mamy przyjemność ogłosić uroczystą
Galę, która odbędzie się Seminarium św. Jana w Brighton w
piątek, 19 sierpnia w godz. od 17:30 do 21:00 na cześć ks. prałata
James’a Moroney, rektora Seminarium Duchownego oraz z
wdzięcznością dla naszych sióstr Felicjanek za ich ofiarną służbę
w szkole św. Józefa prze 125 lat. W sumie udział w Gali weźmie
około 15 sióstr pochodzących z Webster lub kiedykolwiek
pracujących w naszej szkole. Dochód z Gali będzie przeznaczony
na budowę sali gimnastycznej.
Bilet wstępu kosztuje $250 od osoby. Organizatorzy zapewniają
transport wygodnym autokarem. Dodatkowe szczegóły można
uzyskać w biurze parafialnym.
Serdecznie zachęcamy do wzięcia udziału w tym niezwykłym
wydarzeniu, które będzie dla nas wszystkich okazją do okazania
wdzięczności niezwykłym ludziom, którzy w wyjątkowy sposób
wpisali się w nasze życie, a jednocześnie wspierając budowę tak
bardzo potrzebnej w naszej szkole sali gimnastycznej sami
możemy wpłynąć na lepsza jakość kształcenia następnych
pokoleń.
NABOŻEŃSTWO FATIMSKIE
Zachęcamy parafian, przyjaciół i członków naszych organizacji
parafialnych, aby dołączyli do nas w sobotę, 13 sierpnia o godz.
19:00 na nabożeństwie ku czci Matki Bożej Fatimskiej. Będziemy
modlić się na różańcu w czasie procesji na zewnątrz kościoła, a
następnie uwielbimy Boga w adoracji Najświętszego Sakramentu.
W czasie obecnych zawirowań, powinniśmy pamiętać o
napomnieniu Matki Najświętszej, że Różaniec jest kluczem do
pokoju osobistego i światowego.
