THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE
As children we sang the
lively song This Little Light of Mine.
The words, of course, are based on
today’s Gospel, in which we are
called as disciples to be salt and light
for the world. Children are uninhibited about sharing their
faith. It’s only when we grow older that we prefer to hide our
light under a bushel basket because our culture tends not to
emphasize discipleship. The message in this week’s readings is
clear: in order to give glory to God through our discipleship,
we must show the light of Christ in our words and deeds. Not
an easy thing for inhibited adults. Often we may think of salt
and light in terms of what we do for others, but it can be just as
important not to do something, such as getting angry with the
stranger on the road, or telling an offensive joke.
This week’s second collection
is for Parish Obligations to the Diocese.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated

CUB SCOUTS AND BOY SCOUTS MASS
This Sunday, Feb. 5th, we welcome the Cub Scouts and Boy
Scouts from Troop #173 to our 9:30am Liturgy. These young
men are grateful for the continuous support and sponsorship of
our parish throughout the years. We wish all our scouts a successful 2017 as proud members of this fine organization.

DEVOTION TO THE DIVINE MERCY
The first Sunday of the month (Feb. 5th) is devoted to the
Divine Mercy with special services at 2:55pm. This afternoon
we will sing the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy followed by adoration and benediction. A devotion most dear to Our Lord is
the veneration of His passion at the very hour that recalls His
death on the cross. We invite parishioners and friends to join us
on Sunday.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL NEWS
We are pleased to announce that SJS has received a $500
grant from the Webster Cultural Council and the MA Council
for their upcoming spring Drama Club performance “Into the
Woods, Jr.” Program Director, Ms. Kelly Bailey announced the
dates as May 12th & 13th. We look forward to another unique
middle school program in the spring.
Congratulations to our SJS students, Benjamin Duval, Seth
Boudreau and Elzbieta Gronek who were accepted into the
CDMMEA Junior Ensemble Choir. These students will represent our school in a concert on April 29th.
St. Joseph School has been accepted and certified by the
SEVP and is eligible to accept Foreign Exchange Students in
our school. We already have a culturally diverse student body
and this will allow them to interact with students from other
nations and cultures.
LENTEN PROGRAM FOR PARENTS AND COUPLES
St. Joseph Basilica under the auspices of the Hospitality
Committee will sponsor a five week seminar for married couples. Topics will include emotional, spiritual and practical aspects of the Sacrament of Matrimony. Regardless if you have
been married for two years or fifteen, this program will help
couples to rediscover the meaning of marriage, commitment,
love, intimacy and conflicting situations. We encourage couples married up to twenty years to participate, if you are happily
married or experiencing difficulties. This program will be held
on Saturdays from 2:30-4:00pm at the school on Mar., 4th,
18th, 25th and Apr. 1st. Fifth date will be determined. Please
reserve these dates on your calendar.
FEBRUARY BIRTHDAYS
Although the month of February this year only has 28 days it
is filled with many special events such as the feast days of St.
Blaise, St. Jerome, St. Cyril, St. Methodius , St. Josephine, Our
Lady of Lourdes and also Valentines Day and Presidents Day,
etc. We of the St. Joseph Parish Community will also celebrate the 90’s birthdays of the following elite parishioners:
Rita Augustynski, Rita Lada, Irene Marcoux, Rose Piasta and
Marion Winters. The amethyst is your birthstone which gives
the wearer courage. May God Bless You with many healthy

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We invite parishioners and friends to join us for our weekly
Novena and Devotion to St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal
Church on Wed., Feb. 8th at 7:00pm. People in our parish experience a variety of needs and seek his protection in their journey of life. Please note your intentions on slips available in the
Chapel to be read during this service.
Our Lectors Ministry will carry our Patron’s statue into the
sanctuary. We appreciate your offerings.
PILGRIMAGE TO OUR LADY OF FATIMA SHRINE
St. Joseph Basilica will sponsor a Pilgrimage to Portugal and
Spain from August 1 - 10, 2017 on the 100th anniversary of the
Apparition at Fatima. We will participate in services and visit
the place of the Apparition of Our Lady to the three children
and travel to historical and picturesque places such as Lisbon,
Seville, Zaragoza, Barcelona and Madrid.
The price of this pilgrimage is $3,590 which includes the
direct flight from Boston to Lisbon, hotels, sightseeing, 2 meals
a day and entrance fees. If interested please call the rectory or

Planned Parenthood facilities, calling for an end to the

abortion chain and receives over $500 million from taxpayers

„Wschodzi w ciemności jako światło dla prawych.” (Ps 112, 4)
Najgłębsza ciemność w ludzkim
sercu to egoizm i nieczułość.
Czynią one człowieka więźniem
duchowych mroków, nawet jeśli
“błyszczy on słowem i mądrością”.
Jezus Chrystus, umierając za nas na
krzyżu, zapalił ogień miłości, zdolny rozproszyć wszelką
ciemność. Stał się dla nas wcieloną troską i miłosierdziem
Boga. Blask bijący od krzyża rozprasza mroki naszego
egoizmu, życia dla siebie, i wypełnia nasze serca miłosierną
miłością. Sprawia że “ światło jaśnieje w ciemnościach,
a ciemność staje się południem.”
Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona
na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne.
Druga kolekta w przyszłym tygodniu będzie przeznaczona
na pokrycie wyższych kosztów utrzymania i energii.
KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Każda pierwsza niedziela miesiąca w naszej parafii jest
dedykowana Miłosierdziu Bożemu. Zgodnie z prośbą Jezusa
gromadzimy się w godzinę Jego męki, aby czerpać ze źródeł
łaski. Zachęcamy wszystkich bardzo serdecznie do udziału we
wspólnej modlitwy. Każdy z nas zmaga się z różnorodnymi
trudnościami natury duchowej. Świadomość bliskości
Miłosiernego Boga i odczucie Jego Wszechogarniającej
Miłości z pewnością pomoże nam w tych zmaganiach.

Z radością informujemy, że szkoła św. Józefa otrzymała
Grant w wysokości $500 od Webster Cultural Council oraz
MA Council na przygotowanie przedstawienia. Jak
informuje opiekunka kółka teatralnego, przedstawienie
zostanie wystawione w dniach 12 i 13 maja.
Z niecierpliwością czekamy na kolejne wydarzenie

SPOTKANIA WIELKOPOSTNE
Hospitality Committee organizuje wielkopostne spotkania
dla małżeństw. Pięć planowanych spotkań będzie skupiało
się na emocjonalnych, duchowych jak i praktycznych
aspektach przezywania sakramentu małżeństwa. Bez
względu na to czy od ślubu minęło dwa czy piętnaście lat
proponowany program pozwoli na odnowienie pojmowanie
znaczenia sakramentu małżeństwa, zaangażowania, miłości,
intymności oraz radzenia sobie z trudnymi sytuacjami.
Do udziału w spotkaniach zachęcamy wszystkie małżeństwa
bez względu na to, czy są szczęśliwe czy też przeżywają
trudności. Spotkania będą odbywały się w soboty
w godzinach od 14:30 – do 16:00.
PIELGRZYMKA DO FATIMY
Bazylika św. Józefa organizuje pielgrzymkę do Portugalii
i Hiszpanii w dniach od 1 do 10 sierpnia 2017 r.
W programie zwiedzanie wielu atrakcyjnych miejsc i miast
(Lizbona, Sewilla, Saragossa, Barcelona, Madryt) ze
szczególnym uwzględnieniem Sanktuarium Matki Bożej
Fatimskiej i innych miejsc związanych z objawieniami
w Fatimie.
Koszt wyjazdu: $3590. W cenę wliczone przeloty
w Bostonu do Lizbony i z powrotem, hotele, opłaty za
zwiedzanie, dwa posiłki dziennie. Zainteresowanych prosimy

PIEROGI I GOŁĄBKI
Holy Rosary Sodality organizuje sprzedaż pierogów
i gołąbków. Tuzin pierogów można nabyć za $9 oraz cztery
gołąbki za $7. Zamówienia będą zbierane do 12 lutego.
Odbiór zamówień w sobotę 25 lutego i w niedzielę 26 lutego
w szkole. Formularze zamówień są dostępne przy wejściach
do Bazyliki.
