Stewardship Note. When the Son of Man comes in glory, may
we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the
stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it
is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing
their gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God’s blessing and inherit the kingdom.
Word of Life. These witnesses (young people with severe disabilities) speak to us, first and foremost, of the dignity of all
human life, created in the image of God. No suffering can efface this divine image imprinted in the depths of our humanity.
But there is more: because the Son of God wanted freely to
embrace suffering and death, we are also capable of seeing
God’s image in the face of those who suffer. Dear friends, our
society, which all too often questions the inestimable value of
life, of every life, needs you: in a decisive way you help to
build the civilization of love.
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THE KING
I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave
me drink.
—-Matthew 25:35
SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING
This Sunday, Nov. 20th is the last Sunday of the liturgical year.
It is also the Solemnity of Christ the King. According to tradition we will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the
11am Mass and conclude with special devotions incl. The
Chaplet to the Divine Mercy at 3 p.m. This special afternoon
provides the great opportunity for parishioners to spend a few
minutes before the Blessed Sacrament in a spirit of gratitude for
received graces. I ask all parish organizations and parishioners
to participate.
The second collection this week is designated for the Catholic
Campaign for Human Development.
Next week the second collection is for all remaining envelopes
in your budget packet.
REFLECTIONS
The end of the liturgical year, the fall season of the dying of
nature and the readings of the last few Sundays of November
directs our thoughts and minds toward eternity. The Bible
teaches that the human person is endowed with a temporal body
and eternal soul which means that the physical body will die,
but the soul will continue to live for eternity in heaven. Choosing heaven means choosing a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ who during his public mission described heaven as a
Father’s house, rest from labors, paradise, kingdom of God, etc.
The gospel of today provides a simple and practical recipe to
obtain eternal life. It might be summarized in a few wordsresponding to the needs of others. There are many needy people among us who depend on our assistance. Whenever we are
responding to the poverty of people or the needs of the Church
we are returning what in the first place belongs to them.
THANKSGIVING DAY
In recent years people began separate their gratitude to God
from the Thanksgiving Day celebration and reduced it to just
eating turkey. When we celebrate Memorial Day we pay our
respect to those we remember. On Thanksgiving Day we cannot
afford to forget that God deserves our gratitude. We cannot
follow the secularistic society and remove God from the tradition of this holiday. After the exodus from Egypt God warned
the chosen people that with prosperity will come the danger of
forgetting God. We can see today how people are tempted to
take credit for what God has given them.
Wishing all of our Basilica Family a blessed and restful day.

SPECIAL HONOR ON VETERAN’S DAY
United States Army 1st Lt. Jimmy D’Andrea, former student
and graduate of St. Joseph School, visited students in honor of
Veteran’s Day and spoke about his experiences in Afghanistan.
He explained to the students the origin of Veteran’s Day and
the importance of honoring our military. He also brought
clothing from Afghanistan to show the students and spoke of
how the U.S. Military is there to assist the Afghan people in
security, building schools, roads and digging wells. The students asked many interesting questions and enjoyed a very informative slide show presentation. Thank you Jimmy for taking the time to share your experience with our students.
ANNUAL SJS CHRISTMAS SHOW
Save the date for the annual Christmas Pageant which will be
held on the afternoon of Dec. 11th at Bartlett High School. Our
students are diligently practicing for this year’s extravaganza!
OLD STURBRIDGE VILLAGE TRIP
On Thurs., Nov. 10th, the students in Grade 7 and 8 along with
their teachers spent the day at Old Sturbridge Village. They
learned about life in the 1830’s, a time period they study in
Social Studies. They were able to see a printing press in
operation, the tinner making candle holders, a trivet being made
in the blacksmith’s shop, a cooper making barrels and buckets,
cups in the pottery shop and what a one room schoolhouse was
like in the 1830’s. As they went through the various exhibits,
costumed interpreters were available to explain what the
students were seeing and answer any other questions they may
have had. Even though the mills were not running, the students
were able to see a carding mill, grist mill and sawmill. Some of
the students took part in learning how to make candles and
cookie cutters out of tin. Visiting Old Sturbridge Village was a
wonderful opportunity to bring to life what they study in the
classroom. Submitted by Mary Ann Weaver

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
UROCZYSTOŚĆ CHRYSTUSA KRÓLA
20 listopada 2011
„Bo byłem głodny, a daliście mi jeść,
byłem spragniony, a daliście mi pić” (Mt 25, 35)
REFLEKSJA.
Campain for Human Development”.
W następną niedzielę podczas drugiej kolekty będą zbierane wszystkie zaległe koperty z rodzinnych pakietów.

ŚWIĘTO DZIĘKCZYNIENIA W ostatnich latach ludzie zdają się
rozgraniczać wdzięczność Bogu i świętowanie Dnia Dziękczynienia,
i redukować je jedynie do świątecznego obiadu. W Memorial Day
Boga.
Wszystkim Parafianom życzymy błogosławionego i szczęśliwego

Mszy w. o godz. 9:30 w każda niedzielę Adwentu. Najbliższe spotkanie 27 listopada.
KARTKI BOŻONARODZENIOWE. Odpowiadając na Waszą
prośbę, Sobotnia Szkoła będzie jeszcze raz sprzedawać kartki bożonarodzeniowe dzisiaj przed i po Mszy o 11:00. Dziękujemy za wsparcie.
