as water covers the sea. — Isaiah 11:9b
PREPARE THE WAY
Saint John the Baptist appears on the
scene today as Advent enters its second
week. The mysterious consumer of locusts
and wild honey, John echoes the words of
the prophet Isaiah as he calls for repentance in the face of the nearness of the
kingdom of heaven. The rhythms of the
Christian life are often confounding. Each year we meet the
Baptist and hear his calls for repentance. Each year we see him
pointing to the one who is coming after him, the Lord Jesus.
Yet each year the words and actions of John the Baptist echo
anew in our hearts, because we have fallen into old sinful traps
again and again. Advent gives us the opportunity once again to
turn away from our sinful ways and embrace the gospel way of
life. John the Baptist invites us to prepare the way for the Lord,
in whom we place our hope.

is for Higher Energy and Utility Costs.
Next weekend’s second collection is designated
for Parish Obligations to the Diocese.
REMINDER: Blessing and lighting of the outdoor Christmas tree will take place today, Sat., Dec. 3rd after the 4:00pm
Family Mass followed by refreshments in the school cafeteria
including hot chocolate for the youngsters. Children may take
advantage of shopping in the HSA Holiday Shop in the gym
and have a photo with St. Nicholas.

DIVINE MERCY DEVOTIONS
This Sunday, December 4th at 3:00pm we ask you to join us
for Divine Mercy Devotions to pray for needed graces in our
lives or that of your loved ones. It was revealed to St. Faustina
that: „At three 0‘clock implore my mercy especially for
sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in
My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of
agony. This is an hour of great mercy for the whole world. . .
.In this hour I will refuse nothing to the souol that makes
requests of Me in virtue of My Passion.“ This Advent Season
is an opportune time to participate in this devotion.
LIVING THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
The Advent Season anticipates the joy of Christmas, the birth
of Jesus Christ—the Savior of the World. We can observe
changes in attitude in the public media and all around us.
People open their heart to God, more frequently participate in
Divine Worship and are willing to help one another. Here are
some options for our parish community:
Family in Need - one of our school families is experiencing
financial difficulties due to serious health problems and unable
to make tuition payments. Through the generosity of very
dedicated parishioners, the studaent was able to continue his
education at SJS up to the present. However, an additional
$1,500 is needed to help this family through the end of this
school year. May your generosity be rewarded with many of
God‘s blessings.
Christmas School Collection - although we enjoy a
significant increase in enrollment, however, we had to hire new
teachers, provide new textbooks, etc., which significantly
increased expenses. We would appreciate if parishioners,
friends and alumni could provide additional assistance in this
season of giving and sharing.
The Angel Giving Tree-provides the opportunity to become
an Angel of Wisdom, or Charity to brighten someone‘s life.
Please return the angel with your gift and place it under the tree
before December 18th to allow time for distribution.
Monetary gifts should be brought to the rectory.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Children of Mary - on Sat., Dec. 4th at 4:00pm mass will
be accepted as new members into the Children of Mary Sodality. We extend congratulations to the following: Aleksandra
Kurowska, Cheyenne Matthews, Sheridan Medaglia, Grace
Pomfret, Samantha Reseigh and Hannah Watson. Congratulations to all these young ladies.
Next Sunday, Dec. 11th we invite our students and parents to
the Advent Buddy Mass at the 9:30am Liturgy.
Annual Christmas Pageant “Camel Lot” will be held on
Sun. Dec. 11th at 2:00pm at the Bartlett High School Auditorium. We invite students, parents, parishioners, friends and
family to join us for an entertaining afternoon as we showcase
our talented children. Tickets are available at the school or at
the door on Sun.—Adults $8-Seniors and children $5 and SJS
will be admitted free of charge.
Students’ Breakfast - Mon., Dec. 12th - for all who participated in the Buddy Mass and Pageant thru the courtesy of Principal Michael Hackenson.
Flowers before the Blessed Mother Altar for the Feast of
Immaculate Conception - are given by Marilyn Bernier in

LET US PREPARE FOR CHRISTMAS
Novena to the Infant Jesus - begins on Friday, December
16th as a traditional nine-day Novena of interrupted prayers.
We will recite abbreviated prayers on the weekend as well as
following the daily 6:30am mass as an immediate preparation
for Christmas.
Reconciliation Service - on Monday evening, Dec. 19th at
6:00pm we will hold confessions in our Basilica for all the
faithful of our Basilica including the youth. Clergy from various parishes will be available for your convenience. Confession
before Christmas is an essential element of preparing for encountering the newborn Messiah in our hearts.
Oplatki - or Christmas Wafers are available in the sacristy.
Breaking of oplatek means sharing the bread and the joy of life.
It is important to express your wishes verbally from the sincerity of your heart during the Christmas Vigil Dinner with your
family. A donation of $3 per packet is appreciated.
Gift Sharing –it is a beautiful custom that we share gifts
with family members and close friends. This tradition originated from the very solemnity of the birth of Jesus Christ. People were so inspired by the meaning of Christmas that they
wanted to share their joy by bestowing gifts unto others. In the
last several decades the meaning of Christmas was deluded and
became a social celebration with an emphasis only on sharing
gifts with one another. In preparation for Christmas Day,
please remember that the most important gift should be given
to Jesus Christ Himself and His Church. It is a tradition in the
majority of our country that a Christmas gift to Jesus and His
Church equals your monthly contribution.
ALTAR GUILD
Could you spare a few hours to assist our Altar Guild to set
up Christmas decorations in our Basilica. Those interested
please call Sylvia Kitka at (508)943-0201 or the rectory to set a
schedule according to your availability. Visitors from various
places participate in our Liturgical Services and appropriate
decorations play an important role in the Spirit of Christmas.

just a legend? This question is answered in a DVD of documentary on Fri., Dec. 9th at 6:30pm at St. Anthony of Padua
Church, Dudley. The DVD is geared toward high school and

Washington, DC. Buses will leave from St. Paul’s Cathedral on

się z nimi. Ci drudzy nie chcą przegapić
nadchodzącego królestwa niebieskiego.
Przygotowują drogę dla Pana, podejmują
wysiłek prostowania ścieżek swego życia,
czuwają. Wiedzą, że pogrążeni w wewnętrznym śnie, mogliby
nie usłyszeć wołania Księcia Pokoju, który przybywa, aby
strapionym przynieść zapowiedź raju.

BŁOGOSŁAWIEŃSTWO CHOINKI
Po Mszy św. o godz. 16:00 w sobotę zgromadzimy się na
tradycyjnym już w naszej parafii poświęceniu świątecznej choinki.
Po celebracji przejdziemy do kafeterii na niewielki poczęstunek.
HSA przygotowało również butik, gdzie będzie można kupić
świąteczne upominki. Dla dzieci będzie również możliwość
zpotkania ze św. Mikołajem i zrobienia pamiątkowego zdjęcia.
Loteria – Tego samego wieczoru odbędzie się losowanie Loterii
organizowanej przez Radę Parafialną. Do wygrania $3000, $1000

KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
W naszej parafii tradycyjnie spotykamy się na Nabożeństwie do
Miłosierdzia Bożego w każdą pierwszą niedzielę miesiąca. Jezus
objawił św. Faustynie, aby w godzinie jego męki modlić się
szczególnie za grzeszników. Ci którzy zanurza się w tajemnicy Jego
męki, szczególnie zaś w Jego opuszczeniu w czasie agonii, zostaną
wysłuchani i obdarzeni łaskami, o które proszą.
Serdecznie zapraszamy wszystkich parafian do wspólnej
modlitwy.
DUCHA BOŻEGO NARODZENIA
Adwent jest czasem przygotowania do radości Świąt Bożego
Narodzenia - narodzin Jezusa Chrystusa-Zbawiciela Świata. W tym
czasie obserwujemy zmiany w postawach ludzi. Otwierają oni swoje
serce na Boga, częściej uczestniczą w nabożeństwach i częściej
przejawiają gotowość pomagania sobie nawzajem.
Odczuwamy ducha Bożego Narodzenia w naszej rodzinie
parafialnej, poprzez przygotowanie się do przyjęcia Jezusa Chrystusa
w tajemnicy Bożego Narodzenia. Możemy ofiarować nasze modlitwy
za siebie nawzajem, używać naszych dóbr i wyciągać pomocną dłoń
do potrzebujących naszej Bazylice, w szkole, i w całym naszym
mieście. W czasie, kiedy dajemy i otrzymujemy wiele prezentów
warto pamiętać, że tak naprawdę posiadamy tylko to co ofiarujemy.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
W środę, 7 grudnia nasza Nowenna do św. Józefa zostanie
odprawiona wyjątkowo po Mszy św. o godz. 17:00. Jest to Msza
wigilijna z okazji Uroczystości Niepokalanego Poczęcia Najświętszej
Maryi Panny. Nie będzie Mszy św. o godz. 19:00.
PRZEDSTAWIENIE SZKOLNE
Każdego roku w okresie przedświątecznym uczniowie naszej
szkoły prezentują przedstawienie wprowadzające nas w atmosferę
Świąt. Zapraszamy na niedzielę, 11 grudnia na godz. 14:00 do
Bartlett High School na występ pod tytułem „Camel Lot”. Bilety są
dostępne w w szkolnym sekretariacie. Będzie można nabyć je
również w przy wejściu w dniu przedstawienia. Ceny biletów to
odpowiednio $8 dla dorosłych oraz $5 dzieci i seniorów.
DEKORACJE ŚWIĄTECZNE
Nasza świątynia co roku w okresie Bożego Narodzenia przechodzi
niesamowitą transformację. Pojawiają się dekoracje, które pozwalają
nam niemalże namacalnie odczuć atmosferę tych wspaniałych Świąt.
Odmiana ta nie dokonuje się jednak automatycznie. Aby osiągnąć
podziwiany przez wszystkich efekt potrzeba jest wielu godzin
wytężonej pracy całej rzeszy ludzi. Dlatego zwracamy się o pomoc i
wsparcie dla Altar Guild, które jest odpowiedzialne za te prace.
Wszystkich, którzy chcieliby pomóc w dekorowaniu Bazyliki
prosimy o kontakt z Sylwią Kitka, dla ustalenia szczegółów prac: 508

ANGEL GIVING TREE
Serdecznie dziękujemy wszystkim, którzy przynieśli prezent dla
potrzebujących. Istnieje jeszcze wiele potrzeb, które czekają na
spełnienie. Bardzo prosimy o wybranie aniołka z drzewek
znajdujących się przy ołtarzu i przy wyjściu z Bazyliki. Przez ten
skromny dar możemy stać się prawdziwym aniołem dla kogoś, kto
jest w potrzebie. Prezenty z przyczepionym do niech aniołkiem
prosimy o składanie przy drzewkach. Ofiary pieniężne prosimy o
przynoszenie do biura parafialnego.
Zbiórka potrwa do 18 grudnia, tak aby ofiarowane prezenty mogły
dotrzeć do potrzebujących przed Świętami.
OPŁATKI
Opłatki są częścią pięknej i starej tradycji. W Wigilię Bożego
Narodzenia, kiedy pojawi się pierwsza gwiazdka, rodzina i bliscy
