REGULATION
OF XI INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR EX LIBRIS
— GLIWICE 2016
1. The Municipal Public Library in Gliwice, hereinafter referred to as the Organising Party, announces XI International Ex Libris Competition, which is a part of the „Ex Libris-Gliwice 2016”
event.
2. The Competition is open.
3. The objective of Competition is review and presentation of the latest achievements in the
art of bookmark.
4. Only and exclusively ex librises may be sent for the Competition. Pseudo ex librises and
other graphic forms shall not be admitted for the Competition.
5. Works sent for the Competition must contain:
a. „ex libris” formula (or its equivalent) integrally related to the composition field
b. dedication composed of the first name and surname of the owner or name of institution
c. if initials or abbreviation are used, full name shall be provided on the overleaf of the
artwork.
6. Participant may send:
a. unlimited number of works,
b. each work in two signed prints,
c. works created in the years 2014-2016,
d. works made in any graphic technique.
7. Size of the print may not exceed 130x130 mm.
8. Overleaf of each print shall contain the following information:
a. first name and surname of the author,
b. code of the graphic technique,
c. year it was made,
d. explanation of initials or abbreviations used.
9. The works shall be accompanied by a legibly filled out application form (to be downloaded
from the Organising Party’s website: www.biblioteka.gliwice.pl).
10. The final date for submitting the works is 20 January 2016 (mail date stamp) – the works
shall be sent to the address:

11. The Organising Party shall appoint a jury to conduct qualification of bookmarks for the postCompetition exhibition and make decision on awarding prizes and mentions.
12. Results of the jury deliberation will be announced immediately when finished.
13. The Organising Party has planned awarding the following prized and mentions:
a. Golden Statuette „Ex Libris – Gliwice 2016” and PLN 5 000;
b. Silver Statuette „ Ex libris – Gliwice 2016” and PLN 3 000;
c. Bronze Statuette „ Ex Libris – Gliwice 2016” and PLN 2 000;
d. Honourable Mentions;
e. Mention for ex libris related to Gliwice;
f. Mention for ex libris related to 500 years of Polish Ex Libris;
g. Mention for a young artist (under 26)
h. Other special prizes.
14. Awards will be taxed in accordance with valid regulations.
15. Award ceremony and exhibition opening will be held on 10 June 2016 in the Exhibition
Room of the Municipal Public Library in Gliwice, in Inwalidów Wojennych Square 3.
16. Artists qualified for participation in the exhibition will receive a complimentary postCompetition publication.
17. All works sent for the Competition shall become property of the Organising Party.
18. The Organising Party shall not be held liable for loss or damage of works during shipment.
19. The Organising Party reserves a right to free of charge publishing of works for popularisation
purposes and their presentation on exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
20. Latest news regarding the Competition and „Ex Libris – Gliwice 2016” event will be published on: www.biblioteka.gliwice.pl, www.facebook.com/MBPGliwice
21. Participation in the Competition shall be deemed acknowledgement of this regulation.
