Stewardship Note: The disciples in today’s Gospel came to
know Jesus in the breaking of the bread. When we share what
we have with those who are in need, we, too, will discover Jesus in our midst.
Defending Our Religious Liberty-The Amish are exempt
from the entire federal health care form mandate because they
do not believe in insurance. Members of Medi-Share, a Christian care ministry, are also exempt. Yet when the Catholic
Church asks for religious exemption that would exclude its religious organizations from paying for procedures such as sterilization, abortion inducing drugs and contraceptives that violates
its moral conviction the government is saying “NO”. We cannot allow the government to dictate which religious beliefs it
respects and which it does not. We, as American citizens, are
granted freedom of religion under the Constitution of the
United States and the First Amendment. We have to be assured
that this inalienable right is never taken away. The United Conference of Catholic Bishops of Washington, DC is asking for a
nationwide call to prayer in this intention.
Most importantly of all, we call upon the Catholic faithful,
and all people of faith, throughout our country to join us in
prayer and penance for our leaders and for the restoration of our
First Freedom—religious liberty—which is not only protected
in the laws and customs of our great Nation, but rooted in the
teachings of our great Tradition. Prayer is the ultimate source
of our strength—for without God, we can do nothing; but with
God, all things are possible. Please contact the offices of your
Congressional Representatives (www.house.gov) and Senators (www.senate.gov) to express your opposition to this
mandate.

FULFILLMENT
It is interesting that during the Easter season, when we do
not hear a reading from the Old Testament, it becomes so important. This is particularly true today. Peter’s speech begins
with a prayer formula familiar to Jews: “The God of Abraham.
. .”
It likewise contains the potent phrases “Holy and Righteous
One” and “mouth of all the prophets”. Peter was stating in no
uncertain terms that the law, psalms and prophets had been
fulfilled in Christ. This is reinforced by Jesus himself in the
Gospel passage, when he states that everything in the scriptures
(to the early Christians “the scriptures” were what we call the
Old Testament) had to be fulfilled. Above all, Jesus and Peter
both emphasize that we are witnesses to all of this, and are sent
forth to bear witness to it in the world. The Latin Missa, from
which our word “Mass” comes, means “sent” (as in “mission”).
MARY FAUSTINA KOWALSKA– commonly known as
Saint Faustina is the Patroness of the month of April. She was
a Polish nun, mystic and visionary and is venerated in the Roman Catholic Church as a saint and is known as the Apostle of
Divine Mercy. Sr. Faustina predicted that her work would be
suppressed for some time, then accepted again. The Divine
Mercy devotion was banned by the Vatican, but was approved
in 1978 and she was declared the first saint of the 21st century
in April 2000.

125th JUBILEE COMMITTEE NEWS
The Jubilee Committee invites parishioners to join in the
Town of Webster Earth Day clean up on April 28 as part of our
community service. Event registration at Webster Town Hall
begins at 8:00am and we were planning to work for a few hours
until about 11-noon. If you are interested in assisting please
call Cindi Gardner at 508-461-9054.
On Wed., May 16th-The Vigil for the Ascension– the Shepherd Hill High School Choir will join us at the 5:00pm Mass
with a special choral presentation. More details will be available next weekend.
The next Parish Supper will be held on Sat., May 19 after
4:00pm Mass in the school cafeteria. The featured specialties
will be smoked turkey and pork loin. More information will be
forthcoming.
With favorable weather conditions, we will begin work on
the Basilica stairs and other projects suggested by the Parish
Council in preparation of the 125th Jubilee Celebration in October. We will do as much work as possible according to the
availability of funds.

NEW PROGRAM FOR YOUNG COUPLES
Our new monthly program (free of charge) for young couples
will commence on Sun., April 29 after 11:00am Mass in the
school cafeteria. We invite married couples to join us for a
light lunch and a brief program. Our first guest speaker will be
Dr. Christopher Kloft, Professor of Theology at Assumption
College, Worcester, MA, who frequently speaks at other parishes in our Diocese. This initial gathering will give the opportunity to the attendees to address a wide range of issues that
affect their relationship.

ST. THOMAS MORE SCHOLARSHIP FOR LAW
STUDENTS
Applications for the St. Thomas More Law Scholarship are
now available and may be obtained by contacting: The Thomas
More Society, Chancery Office, 49 Elm St., Worcester, MA
01609, or you may call 508-791-7171 and ask for Eileen in the
Diocesan Tribunal. The scholarship is for law students who
will be attending an accredited law school in the fall or for a
student presently in law school. The application must be returned by June 30, 2012. Applicants (or their parents) must be
members of parishes within the Diocese of Worcester. The
Scholarship is usually in the amount of $3,000.

ON THE LETTERS OF PAUL
Sessions designed for adult discussion on “Reflections
on the Letters of Paul will be held at St. Louis Church
Hall on April 26th and May 10th at 6:30pm. There is no
fee. Please bring a bible and a friend. Light refreshments

CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
Sr. Youth Group Taco Dinner– (9th—12th graders) are
invited to enjoy a Taco Dinner on April 24 at the Youth
Center from 5:30pm—8:00pm. Please let Mrs. Valcour
know you will be attending so we buy enough food.
April Youth Mass - will be held on April 28th at St.
Louis Church at 5:00pm. Pizza will be served following
Mass at the Youth Center. If you are interested in reading

Mass will be before the 5:00pm Mass. All are invited to
attend. New faces and voices are welcome!
Camping with the Youth Group– all youths in grades
6-12 are invited to go tent camping Sat., May 5th from
11:00am to Sun., May 6th until 2:00pm at Sutton Falls in
Sutton, MA. Cost will be $30 per youth and that includes
food. Some parent volunteers (you go for free) will be

Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa jest zapowiedzią naszego zmartwychwstania. Ono dokonuje się już teraz, przez dar
nowego życia, dzięki któremu grzech już nie panuje nad nami. A „jeśliby nawet ktoś zgrzeszył, mamy Rzecznika wobec
Ojca”. Niestety wielu chrześcijan nie potrafi przyjąć łask wysłużonych przez Pana. Żyją przygnieceni ciągłym poczuciem grzechu i winy wobec Boga, pozbawieni prawdziwej wolności dzieci Bożych, radości z odkupienia. A przecież
Chrystus zmartwychwstał, aby to stało się udziałem nas wszystkich.

O WOLNOŚĆ RELIGIJNĄ
Zapraszamy i wzywamy wszystkich wiernych do przyłączenia się do modlitwy oraz pokuty za rządzących, a
także w intencji przywrócenia i umocnienia podstawowego prawa każdego człowieka - wolności religijnej - które
to jest nie tylko chronione prawami i zwyczajami narodu
amerykańskiego, ale jednocześni jest zakorzenione w naszej Tradycji. W czasach kiedy ta wolność jest zagrożona,
modlitwa jest ostatecznym źródłem naszej siły i nadziei bo bez Boga nic nie możemy uczynić, lecz u Boga
wszystko jest możliwe.

PROGRAM DLA MŁODYCH MAŁŻEŃSTW

ŚW. FAUSTYNA KOWALSKA
Postać św. Siostry Faustyny Kowalskiej nierozerwalnie łączy się kultem Bożego Miłosierdzia, sam bowiem Bóg
wybrał ją jako swoje narzędzie do rozgłaszania Jego czci. Ustanowił ją swoim głosem. Tej prostej i niewykształconej, ale jakże pokornej zakonnicy, Bóg powierzył misję Miłosierdzia.
W 20 r. Życia po wielu trudnościach wstąpiła do Zgromadzenia Sióstr Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia i przeżyła tam 13
lat. Doświadczała prób Krzyży, przechodziła oschłości wewnętrzne, silne pokusy przeciw wierze, poczucie całkowitego odrzucenia przez Boga, a także choroby i niezrozumienie ze strony otoczenia. Z jej dzienniczka dowiadujemy się, że w czasie prywatnego objawienia w Płocku 22.02. 1931 r. otrzymała polecenie od Pana Jezusa, by szerzyła kult Miłosierdzia Bożego, oraz postarała się o namalowanie obrazu Pana Jezusa Miłosiernego, ze wzoru jakiego widziała. Przeszedłszy przez wiele doświadczeń i chorobę gruźlicy płuc, 5 października 1938r odchodzi do
Pana po nagrodę wieczną w 33r. życia.
Świętość życia siostry Faustyny i heroiczność jej cnót jest najlepszym dowodem potęgi i skuteczności działania
Bożego Miłosierdzia w duszy wiernej natchnieniom Ducha Św. Pan Jezus przypomina przez s. Faustynę, co ostatecznie będzie się liczyło, a mianowicie Miłosierdzie Boże i Miłosierdzie nasze. S. Faustyna, odkrywając na nowo
Boga bogatego w miłosierdzie, prowadzi nas na znane i nieznane drogi przystępu i doświadczenia Miłosierdzia
Bożego.
