From the desk of the Pastor…… God tells us, "honor your father and mother." For some people
that command is easy. For others it is very difficult. Still, God does not say "honor your parents - unless you belong to a dysfunctional family." Nor does he say, "honor one parent, but not the other." No, he simply tells us to
honor our parents…… Sirach gives some strong motives for honoring one's father and mother. He says that if you
honor your father, God will hear your prayers and forgive your sins. Now that is pretty good, but there's more.
Sirach - together many books in the Bible - says that if we honor our parents, God will give us earthly blessings.
He will give us something all of us want: "riches" or at least a sufficiency so one will not have to live with crushing debts or fall into poverty and misery. Moreover, to the person who honors his parents, God will grant a long
life…… That desire to honor father and mother is something God has planted deep in each of us.. Every culture
evidences the instinct to reverence ancestors, beginning with ones own parents. That instinct has not disappeared in
the twenty-first century. God put the desire in our hearts for a reason. It is not too strange when you think about it.
That instinct helps create an enduring family - and family is the place where God teaches us love. Love, above all,
means embracing those who are different.

rodziny! Powoduje tyle obrazy Boga, jest przyczyną wielu nieszczęść i zła. Dlatego jest przedmiotem szczególnej
wrażliwości i szczególnej troski Kościoła. Za cyframi wszak, za analizami i opisami stoi tu zawsze żywy człowiek,
tragedia jego serca, jego życia, tragedia jego powołania. Rozwody... wysoka liczba rozwodów. Trwałe skłócenie i
konflikty w wielu rodzinach, a także długotrwałe rozstania na skutek wyjazdu jednego z małżonków za granicę.
Prócz tego coraz częściej dochodzi też do zamykania się rodziny wyłącznie wokół własnych spraw, do jakiejś
niezdolności otwarcia się na innych, na sprawy drugiego człowieka czy innej rodziny. Co więcej, zanika czasem
prawdziwa więź wewnątrz samej rodziny: brakuje niekiedy głębszej miłości nawet między rodzicami i dziećmi czy
też wśród rodzeństwa. A ileż rodzin choruje i cierpi na skutek nadużywania alkoholu przez niektórych swoich
członków. (...) Kiedy małżonkowie starają się o to, ażeby samych siebie składać sobie wzajemnie w darze, kształtują w sobie w ten sposób prawidłowe postawy rodzicielskie. Przecież w wychowaniu dziecka chodzi nie tylko o
to, żeby się dla niego poświęcać. Chodzi o to, żeby się poświęcać w sposób mądry - tak, aby wychować je do
prawdziwej miłości. Do prawdziwej miłości wychowuje się także wymagając, ale tylko miłując, można wymagać.

Dios nos dice, "honraras a tu padre y tu madre." Para algunos ese mandamiento es facil. Para otros es muy dificil.
No obstante, Dios no dice, "honraras a tus padres - si son muy buenos." Ni dice, "honrar a uno de tus papas, pero
no el otro." No, dice solamente, Honraras a tu padre y tu madre…… Siracides nos da unos motivos fuertes para
honrar el padre y la madre. Dice que si honras a tu padre, Dios escuchara tus oraciones y perdonara tus pecados.
Eso, es bastante bueno, pero hay mas. Siracides - junto con otros libros de la Biblia - dice que si honramos a
nuestros padres, nos dara bendiciones de este mundo. Nos dara algo que todos queremos: "riquezas" o al menos
suficiente para no tener que vivir con deudas abrumadoras o caernos en probreza y miseria. Ademas, a la persona
que honra a sus papas, Dios dara una vida larga…… El deseo de honrar a los papás es profundamente enraizado en
cada uno de nosotros. El cuento más popular de nuestra época esta basada sobre ese impulso. ….. Dios ha plantado
este deseo en nuestros corazones por un motivo. Pensándolo bien, no es sorprendente. La familia es el lugar donde
Dios quiere que aprendamos el amor. Amor es abrazar a los que son diferentes. Generalmente escogimos nuestros
amigos porque tenemos intereses comunes – pero los de la familia son casi por definición diferentes uno del otro.
La hermana mayor y su hermanito prácticamente son dos especias diferentes – como un poni y un gatito. De modo
semejante, un papá y su hijo adulto ocupan dos mundos muy diferentes. Es la familia que reune esta mescla. Es el
amor que lo hace funcionar. La familia existe para que seres diferentes aprendan el amor.

THE CHRISTMAS MYSTERY
Jesus was born in a humble stable, into a poor family. Simple shepherds were the first witnesses to this event.
In this poverty heaven's glory was made manifest. The Church never tires of singing the glory of this night;
"The Virgin today brings into the world the Eternal and the earth offers a cave to the Inaccessible. The angels
and shepherds praise him and the magi advance with the star, for you are born for us, Little Child, God eternal". Liturgy
To become a child in relation to God is the condition for entering the kingdom. For this, we must humble ourselves and become little. Even more to become children of God we must be born from above or born of God.
Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us. Christmas is the mystery of
this marvelous exchange."O marvelous exchange. Man's Creator has become man, born of the Virgin. We
have been made sharers in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share our humanity" Antiphon.

MISTERIUM BOŻEGO NARODZENIA
Jezus narodził się w nędznej stajni, w ubogiej rodzinie. Prości pasterze są pierwszymi świadkami tego
wydarzenia. Właśnie w tym ubóstwie objawia się chwała nieba. Kościół nie przestaje opiewać chwałę tej
nocy; "Dzisiaj Dziewica wydaje na świat Wiecznego, a ziemia uzycza groty Niedostępnemu. Wysławiają Go
aniołowie i pasterze. Zbliżają się mędrcy, idąc za gwiazdą, ponieważ narodziłeś się dla nas, Małe Dzieciątko,
wieczny Boże" Kontakion.
Stać się dzieckiem wobec Boga - to warunek wejścia do Królestwa. W tym celu trzeba się uniżyć, stać się
małym, co więcej trzeba się powtórnie narodzić, narodzić się z Boga, by stać się dzieckiem Bożym. Misterium
Bożego Narodzenia wypełnia się w nas, gdy Chrystus kształtuje się w nas. Boże Narodzenie jest misterium tej
przedziwnej wymiany. O przedziwna wymiano. Stwórca ludzkości przyjął duszę i ciało, narodził się z
Dziewicy, a stając się człowiekiem bez udziału ziemskiego ojca, obdarzył nas swoim Bóstwem.

LOS MISTERIO DE NAVIDAD
Jesus nacio en la humildad de un establo, de una familia pobre, unos sencilillos pastores son los primeros testigos del acontecimiento. En esta pobreza se manifiesta la gloria del cielo. La Iglesia no se cansa de cantar la
gloria de esta noche; "Hoy la Virgen da a luz al Transcendente. Y la tierra ofrece una cueva al Inaccesible. Los
Magos caminan con la estrella. Porque ha nacido por nosotros, Nińo pequeńito el Dios de antes de los siglos.".Liturgia.
Hacerse nińo con relacion a Dios es la condicion para entrar en el Reino; para eso es necesario abajarse,
hacerse pequeńo, mas todavia, es necesario nacer de lo alto, nacer de Dios para hacerse hijos de Dios. El Misterio de Navidad se realiza en nosotros cuando Cristo toma forma en nosotros. Navidad es el Misterio de este
admirable intercambio.
O admirable comercium. El Creador del genero humano, tomado cuerpo y alma, nace de una virgen y, hecho
hombre sin concurso de varon, nos da parte en su divinidad.

SALVATION IN DAILY LIFE
This Sunday is the feast of the Holy Family, which
comes on the first Sunday after Christmas Day. Today’s feast celebrates how the humanity of Jesus
(including his entire family life) has brought saving
significance into the daily rhythms of our human family life.
The scriptures offer instruction and encouragement on
how to share—within our families, parish families,
and the wider human family—the love that God shares
with us in Jesus. Selections from Sirach, Psalm 128,
and Colossians encourage us to reflect divine love and
thus find holiness in all our human relationships. The
reading from Matthew’s Gospel offers a living example of love in the actions Joseph took to protect his
young family from danger and to nurture them within
the larger family of faith of their time.

Moms and Tots
St. Bruno School invites you to join our free playgroup for moms and tots ( age 18 months to 36 months ) on Monday mornings at 9:00a.m. – 11:00
a.m. in the St. Joseph Room. We provide coffee for parents and snacks for the children. There are plenty of toys, puzzles, and floor mats for the children to play with. Parents/ grandparents are expected to stay with their children for the two hours. For more information call the school at 773-8470697.

BAPTISM
Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal
Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday
after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on
the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish
Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least
8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION
CALLS
Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.
CONFESSIONS: Thursday 3:00PM - 4:00PM and 5:00 PM
- 6:00 PM, Saturday from 4:00 to 4:45 PM and Weekdays
after the 7:00 AM Mass.
