ROSARY RALLY
Join your fellow Catholics from many Long
Island parishes in prayerful petition to the
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
The mandate from Health and Human Services
calls for fines of $100 per day per employee on
Catholic hospitals, and other religious
institutions, , as of January 1, 2014, if they do
not comply with new mandates for health
insurance coverage of products and services
that directly violate Catholic teachings.
The threat to the 1st amendment freedom of
religion and conscience is critical and
imminent.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process for
1) those Non-Christians who are 18 years of age or older
considering the possibility of becoming Roman Catholic; 2)
for those 18 years of age or older, of other Christian faiths
considering the possibility of embracing the Roman
Catholic Church; 3) for baptized Roman Catholics 18 years
of age or older who have not received either the sacrament
of the Eucharist or Confirmation - or both.
Time: 2 hours on Sunday afternoon which will include Mass
and class. Classes will begin in late October and will be
held either from 12noon until 2pm or 1pm until 3pm. If
you have a friend or family member who would be
interested, please contact Deacon Mike or Deacon Phil at
the rectory. An interview must be conducted before classes
begin.
COPIAGUE COMMUNITY CARES
On August 28th the first meeting of Copiague
Community Cares convened to introduce to the
community the start of a coalition that will address
drug and alcohol abuse within our community,
especially our youth. This coalition promises to bring
a mission of hope that involves every resident,
business, professional, educational, law-enforcement,
faith-based and government representatives to unite in
a common goal of prevention of drinking and
substance abuse in our youth and adults.
It is a known fact, that communities with coalitions see
a significant reduction in alcohol and drug abuse.
Following the models of other successful coalitions
from Lindenhurst and Babylon, the Copiague Coalition
received positive response and support. If you are
concerned, please attend their next meeting on
Monday, September 23rd at 7pm at the Copiague
Senior Center in Tanner Park.
GIRL SCOUT PRAY AND PLAY DAY
All Girl Scouts, Brownies through Senior Girl Scouts
are invited to the Girl Scout Pray and Play Day on
Saturday, October 5th, at the Shrine of Our Lady of the
Island in Eastport. Crafts, fun and prayer will begin at
9:30AM, and conclude with Mass at 2:45PM. For

Its’s official! Summer has ended! Of course all you had to
do was shop for school clothing, or for that matter just shop,
and you had Wanda the Witch, Pocahontas and Santa Claus
all staring at you. ...Just a random thought -- Imagine going
in and finding Saints Peter and Paul, Pilgrims on their knees
and Jesus in a stable? (Probably half the population would
not know the significance of that.)
Well, let us enjoy Autumn and while we are out for that nice
brisk walk enjoying nature at its best, think of others that
might need us. Maybe they only need a kind word or a
phone call; sometimes just a smile is enough. Other times
they might need a can of vegetables or fruit or tuna fish or a
jar of peanut butter or jelly .... you get the idea.
Hope that wasn’t too subtle.

COMUNIDAD DE COPIAGUE
El pasado 28 de Agosto esta entidad tuvo su
primera reunión , que tuvo como objetivo el inicio
de una coalición dirigida hacia el problema del
abuso de drogas y alcohol dentro de nuestra
comunidad, especialmente nuestra juventud. Esta
coalición promete traer una misión de esperanza
que involucre a cada residente e instuciones
públicas y privadas.
Es sabido por hechos que las comunidades con
este tipo de coaliciones tienen una significativa
reducción en el abuso de alcohol y drogas.
Siguiendo los modelos de otras coaliciones en
Lindenhurst y Babylon, la coalición de Copiague
ha recibido respuesta y apoyo positivos. Si usted
está interesado, por favor asista a la siguiente
reunión que será el Lunes 23 de Septiembre, a las
7:00PM en el Centro para personas de la Tercera
Edad (Senior Center), en el Parque Tanner.

El Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos es el
proceso para:
1) No Cristianos, 18 años de edad o mayores,
considerando la posibilidad de convertirse en
Católicos Romanos.
2) Aquellos de 18 años de edad o mayores, de otra
fe Cristiana, considerando la posibilidad de abrazar
la Iglesia Católica Romana
3) Para bautizados Católicos Romanos ,de 18 años
de edad o mayores. quienes no hayan recibido el
Sacramento de Primera Comunión o Confirmación, o
ambos.
Tiempo: Dos horas los Domingos por la tarde lo cual
incluirá Misa y clase.

protest ten odbędzie sie w około 1700 miejscach w USA

Ministerstwo Zdrowia USA (U. S. Health Department) wydało
rozporządzenie “HHS Mandate”, według którego wszystkie
instutucje w kraju mają pokrywać koszty ubezpieczenia
procedur (np. aborcja) i środków, którego pogwałacają wolność
sumienia i są przeciwne nauczaniu Kościoła Katolickiego. Ustawa
wchodzi w życie 1 stycznia 2014. Rząd USA ma nałożyć kary
na instytucje katolickie ($100 od jednego pracownika), które
nie zastosują się do nowej ustawy.
Jest to poważnie zagrożenie do pierwszej poprawki o wolności
religii i sumienia w amerykańskiej Konstytucji.
Wszysce powinni zabrać głos w tej naglącej sprawie.
PAMIĄTKI Z BETLEJEM– Podczas tego weekendu (21
i 22 września) po wszystkich Mszach św. sprzedawane będą chrześcijańskie pamiątki wykonane ręcznie z drzewa
oliwnego.
“COPIAGUE COMMUNITY CARES”
W dniu 28 września organizacja “Copiague Community Cares” założyła
koalicję, która ma zajmować się problemem nadużywania narkotyków oraz
alkoholu wśród miejscowej młodzieży. Koalicja pragnie zaangażować

Obrzęd chrześcijańskiego wtajemniczenia dorosłych jest
procesem dla: 1) osób nie będących chrześcijanami w wieku
lat 18 lub powyżej, rozważających możliwość przystąpienia
do Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego, 2) chrześcijan innych
wyznań w wieku lat 18 lub powyżej, rozważających możliwość przystąpienia do Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego, 3)

wieku lat 18 lub powyżej, którzy nie otrzymałi sakramentu
Eucharystii lub Bierzmowania - lub obu sakramentów.
Czas: dwie godziny w niedzielne popołudnia, które obejmą

PRAISE THE LORD WHO LIFTS UP THE POOR!
In today’s first reading, the prophet Amos is speaking in
defense of the poor. The first and last sentences contain the
central message of the passage.
“Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy
the poor of the land . . .
The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Never will I
forget a thing they have done.”
What comes in between describes the way the rich of that
time would have defrauded the poor.
Here at OLA we see many parishioners bringing supplies
of food for the poor every weekend. Families with young
children are struggling to manage the children and the packages.
“When I was hungry, you gave me to eat.” A great beginning!
If we are listening to Amos, we should also examine all
the other practices of our everyday lives, to be sure none of what
we do is harmful to people struggling to make a living.
In today’s Gospel, the priest or deacon is free to choose a
long form or a short form. In the long form, I found a sentence
confusing to me. “The master commended the dishonest servant
for acting prudently.” Is it OK to be dishonest, as long as one is
prudent? So I did a little research and found this explanation.
“What the manager probably did was to cancel the excessive
interest he (the manager) required for his own personal profit.”
