Annual Catholic Appeal 2007
A Time for Reflection
This week, you are asked to read and
reflect upon the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure that you will receive
today. The theme of the campaign is
“Your reward shall be great in
Heaven:” (Luke 6:23).
This theme comes from the Sermon
on the Mount. Christ is not saying, “If you give money, your reward
shall be great in Heaven.” That would be too easy. He is saying that
through our actions and interactions with others, each of us has an
obligation to leave the world a better place than it was when we
arrived. A significant gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal enables
each of us to touch the lives of many others in a very positive way.
The Annual Catholic Appeal provides a significant portion of the
budget of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Most dioceses in the country
conduct an appeal once a year, to help with the cost of providing
services and programs to their parishes and people. Chicago is no
exception.
The Annual Catholic Appeal campaign is much different than a
one time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can
make a gift, payable over five months. Sometimes it is difficult to
envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our
Archdiocese, how it can make a real difference. But, it does, because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many
will enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministry and services.
We will conduct an in-pew pledge process at Masses next weekend
and the following weekend.
As always, what you give should be given in gratitude for what
God has given to you. Thank you for your prayerful consideration
Annual Catholic Appeal 2007.

The next Religion Education (CCD) session will be held on
Saturday, February 17, 2007 from 8am to 10am.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MEETINGS
Mandatory meetings for all parents of students who will receive their First Holy
Communion on May 5, 2007 will be held
on Monday, February 5, 2007 ( in English)
and Wednesday, February 7, 2007 (in Spanish) . Both
meetings will begin at 6:30pm in Makuch Hall.

St. Mary’s School is sponsoring an informational
meeting on Wednesday, February 28th at 7pm in
Makuch Hall. The theme of this meeting
is :”COLLEGE OF HOPE.” Families will learn how to
raise the educational sights of their children. The
Primerica Corporation will engage parents in this
meeting. All parents are invited.
The school is also sponsoring a “Split the Pot Raffle” to raise funds
for the needs of the school. ” Tickets are selling for $3 each or 4 tickets for $10. The drawing will be held in conjunction with the meeting
on Wednesday, February 28th. Mr. Theis, the school principal, will be
happy to deliver the raffle tickets to your home if necessary. Please
call him during school hours at 708-656-5010 to make the necessary
arrangements if you would like to participate in the “Split the Pot Raffle”.

Luke 5:1-11
When was the last time God got your attention?
Think back to the last time you found yourself
almost speechless because you had come faceto-face with some manifestation of his love, his
power, or his majesty. How did it happen? Did a passage from
Scripture leap out at you and pierce your heart? Was it through the
beauty of a spectacular sunrise? Was it in the birth of a baby?
In today’s readings we see three different ways God spoke to his
people and changed them. In the gospel, we Jesus blowing Peter
away through a large catch of fish (Luke 5:5-8). The first reading
tells how Isaiah was cut to the heart by a vision of God’s heavenly
throne (Isaiah 6:1-4). And in the second reading, we hear how
Paul received the gospel both through personal revelation and
through the testimony of the apostles (1 Corinthians 15-3-4). God
speaks in so many different ways, but one thing is always the
same: He wants to reveal himself to us.
On the one level, the Bible is one big story of God revealing himself again and again to his people. It begins with Adam and Eve,
and progresses through Noah and his family, to Abraham and
Sarah, then on to David the shepherd who became king, to Isaiah
and the other prophets, then to a young woman named Mary. And
it didn’t stop when Jesus came into the world. The New Testament
is filled with stories like Peter’s and Paul’s, Lydia’s and John’s, and
so many others. And every one of them had a personal encounter
with God that radically changed their lives.
With all this evidence, how can we doubt that Jesus wants to
reveal himself to us? Even more importantly, how can we doubt
that he wants to reveal himself to us today? At Mass today, or as
you go through the day, keep your eyes and ears open. Jesus is
everywhere. There is no place we cannot find him.
“Lord Jesus, what do you want to say to me today? How do you
want to show yourself? Come, Lord, and open my heart that I may
know your presence with me.”

En aquel tiempo, la gente se agolpaba alrededor de Jesús para
oír la Palabra de Dios, estando él a orillas del lago de Genesaret; y vio dos barcas que estaban junto a la orilla: los pescadores habían desembarcado y estaban lavando las redes. Subió
a una de las barcas, la de Simón, y le pidió que le apartara un
poco de tierra. Desde la barca, sentado, enseñaba a la gente.
Cuando acabó de hablar, dijo a Simón: Rema mar adentro y
echad las redes para pescar. Simón contesto: Maestro, nos
hemos pasado la noche bregando y no hemos cogido nada;
pero, por tu palabra, echaré las redes. Y, puestos a la obra,
hicieron una redada de peces grande, que reventaba la red.
Hicieron señas a los socios de la otra barca, para que vinieran
a echarles una mano. Se acercaron ellos y llenaron las dos
barcas, que casi se hundían. Al ver esto, Simón Pedro se arrojó a los pies de Jesús diciendo: Apártate de mí, Señor, que soy
un pecador. Y es que el asombro se había apoderado de él y
de los que estaban con él, al ver la redada de peces que habían cogido; y lo mismo pasaba a Santiago y Juan, hijos del Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón: No temas: desde ahora, serás pescador de hombres. Ellos sacaron las barcas a
tierra y, dejándolo todo, lo siguieron.

Apelación Católica Anual 2007
Momento para la Reflexión
Esta semana, se les pide que lean y reflexionen sobre el folleto
de la Apelación Católica Anual que recibirán con su boletín hoy.
El tema de la campaña es: "Su recompensa será grande en el
Cielo" (Lucas 6:23).
Este tema viene del Sermón de la Montaña. Cristo no está diciendo, "Si das dinero, tu recompensa será grande en el Cielo". Eso
sería demasiado fácil. Está diciendo que, a través de nuestras
acciones e interacciones con otros, cada uno de nosotros tiene la
obligación de dejar este mundo mejor que cuando llegamos. Un
donativo significativo a la Apelación Católica Anual nos permite
a cada uno tocar las vidas de muchos otros muy positivamente.
La Apelación Católica Anual suma una porción significativa del
presupuesto de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago. La mayoría de las
diócesis en el país llevan a cabo una campaña anual para ayudar
con los costos de proporcionar servicios y programas a sus parroquias y su pueblo. Chicago no es excepción.
La Apelación Católica Anual es muy distinta que cualquier otro
momento de colecta especial. Es una campaña de compromisos
en que usted hace un donativo que se puede pagar durante cinco
meses. A veces es difícil imaginar cómo un compromiso puede
ayudar a una organización del tamaño de nuestra Arquidiócesis,
cómo puede marcar una diferencia notable. Pero sí lo hace, porque todas las parroquias participan en la campaña y los donativos
de muchos permitirán a nuestra Arquidiócesis proporcionar los
servicios y ministerios necesarios.
En todas las Misas el próximo fin de semana y el siguiente llevaremos a cabo un proceso de compromiso en el templo.
Como siempre, lo que usted da debe ser por gratitud por lo que

LA SANTA MISIÓN
11 - 15 de Febrero de 2007
La misión redentorista es una obra de
la Iglesia que desea hacer llegar el
mensaje siempre nuevo y liberador
de la salvación que Jesús ofrece a
todo ser humano. El medio privilegiado es la palabra acompañada de la
vida y del testimonio del misionero
que se entrega totalmente a la realización de esta tarea.
La misión dura cinco días, inicia el domingo 11 de Febrero de
2007 y termina el jueves 15 de Febrero de 2007. Cada día hay
una celebración especial con la predicación a horas 7:00pm.
Los misioneros redentoristas predicarán en las Misas del fin de
semana cuando empieza la misión 11 de
Febrero de 2007. Esta homilía servirá
como última invitación para que la gente
asista a la misión.
Por favor reserven su tiempo para participar en esta misión y también inviten a sus

Patrón de: Enfermedades de la garganta y laringólogos.
San Blas fue médico y obispo de Sebaste, Armenia.
Hizo vida eremítica en una cueva del Monte Argeus.
San Blas era conocido por su don de curación milagrosa. Salvó la vida de un niño que se ahogaba al trabársele en la garganta una espina de pescado. Este es el
origen de la costumbre de bendecir las gargantas el día
de su fiesta. Según una leyenda, se le acercaban también animales enfermos para que les curase, pero no le molestaban en
su tiempo de oración. Cuando la persecución de Agrícola, gobernador
de Cappadocia, contra los cristianos llegó a Sebaste, sus cazadores
fueron a buscar animales para los juegos de la arena en el bosque de
Argeus y encontraron muchos de ellos esperando fuera de la cueva de
San Blas. Allí encontraron a San Blas en oración y lo arrestaron. Agrícola trató sin éxito de hacerle apostatar. En la prisión, San Blas sanó a
algunos prisioneros. Finalmente fue echado a un lago. San Blas, parado en la superficie, invitaba a sus perseguidores a caminar sobre las
aguas y así demostrar el poder de sus dioses. Pero se ahogaron.
Cuando volvió a tierra fue torturado y decapitado. C. 316.

Zdarzyło się raz, gdy tłum cisnął się do Niego, aby słuchać
słowa Bożego, a On stał nad jeziorem Genezaret - zobaczył
dwie łodzie, stojące przy brzegu; rybacy zaś wyszli z nich i
płukali sieci. Wszedłszy do jednej łodzi, która należała do
Szymona, poprosił go, żeby nieco odbił od brzegu. Potem
usiadł i z łodzi nauczał tłumy. Gdy przestał mówić, rzekł do
Szymona: Wypłyń na głębię i zarzućcie sieci na połów! A
Szymon odpowiedział: Mistrzu, całą noc pracowaliśmy i
niceśmy nie ułowili. Lecz na Twoje słowo zarzucę sieci.
Skoro to uczynili, zagarnęli tak wielkie mnóstwo ryb, że sieci
ich zaczynały się rwać. Skinęli więc na współtowarzyszy w
drugiej łodzi, żeby im przyszli z pomocą. Ci podpłynęli; i
napełnili obie łodzie, tak że się prawie zanurzały. Widząc to
Szymon Piotr przypadł Jezusowi do kolan i rzekł: Odejdź
ode mnie, Panie, bo jestem człowiek grzeszny. I jego bowiem, i wszystkich jego towarzyszy w zdumienie wprawił
połów ryb, jakiego dokonali; jak również Jakuba i Jana, synów Zebedeusza, którzy byli wspólnikami Szymona. Lecz
Jezus rzekł do Szymona: Nie bój się, odtąd ludzi będziesz
łowił. I przyciągnąwsz łodzie do brzegu, zostawili wszystko i
poszli za Nim.

Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka 2007
Czas na Przemyślenie
W tym tygodniu prosimy o przeczytanie i przemyślenie informacji zawartych w broszurze na temat Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej. Hasłem kampanii zbierania funduszy jest: „Wielka jest
wasza nagroda w niebie" (Łukasz 6:23).
Hasło to zostało zaczerpnięte z Kazania na Górze. Chrystus nie
mówi "Jeśli zapłacicie, wielka będzie Wasza nagroda w niebie"
To byłoby zbyt proste. Mówi On, że nasze działania i obcowanie z innymi nakładają na nas obowiązek pozostawienia po sobie świata lepszego niż ten, który zastaliśmy, kiedy nań przyszliśmy. Znacząca ofiara na rzecz Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej
pozwala każdemu z nas zaistnieć w losach wielu innych osób w
bardzo pozytywny sposób.
Fundusze zebrane podczas Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej stanowią znaczną część budżetu Archidiecezji Chicago. Większość
diecezji w całym kraju przeprowadza kwestę raz do roku w celu
pokrycia kosztów związanych ze świadczeniem usług i prowadzeniem różnego rodzaju programów dla osób z terenów swoich
parafii. Chicago nie jest wyjątkiem.
Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka w dużej mierze różni się od drugiej
tacy zbieranej jednorazowo na specjalny cel. Kwesta oferuje
plan, w którym można się zobowiązać do złożenia danej ofiary z
możliwością spłaty całej kwoty w ratach, przez okres pięciu
miesięcy. Czasami trudno jest sobie wyobrazić na ile jedna ofiara jest w stanie pomóc organizacji na skalę Archidiecezji, na ile
ma ona rzeczywiście znaczenie. A jednak pojedyncza ofiara

to właśnie ofiary wielu pozwalają Archidiecezji na zapewnianie
tak potrzebnych duszpasterstw i usług.
W przyszłym tygodniu, oraz ponownie za dwa tygodnie będziemy przeprowadzać zbiórkę ofiar podczas Mszy Świętych.

Misje Święte w naszej parafii
11 - 18 marca 2007
Słowo misja dotyczy w swym najgłębszym znaczeniu samego Trójjedynego Boga,
który w swej wielkiej miłości wychodzi do człowieka.
Bóg Ojciec tak bardzo pragnie zbawienia grzesznej
ludzkości, że posyła na świat swego
Syna, który w tajemnicy wcielenia
przyjmuje ludzką naturę i umiera za
nas na krzyżu. Daje nam także Ducha Świętego, aby działał w głębi
ludzkich serc, prowadził i uświęcał
założony przez Jezusa Kościół. To
właśnie Kościołowi Chrystus powierzył kontynuowanie swej zbawczej
misji.
Już dziś serdecznie zapraszamy na Misje Święte –
czas szczególnej łaski, dany nam, aby na nowo odkryć dar wiary oraz przyjąć Bożą miłość. Zechciejmy
nasze codzienne problemy i zmagania zawierzyć
Bogu. Otwórzmy się na dar Słowa, aby w Jego świetle poszukać odpowiedzi na pytania, jakie stawia
nam życie. Zaplanujmy już dziś ten
tydzień tak, aby w pełni wykorzystać
ów niezwykły czas! Misje Święte
rozpoczną się 11 marca i zakończą
się 18 marca 2007 roku. Każdego
dnia będzie możliwość uczestniczyć
w kazaniach misyjnych o godzinie
12:00pm lub o 7:00pm
Donacje
Chcielibyśmy poinformować że jeśli
ktoś jest w wieku siedemdziesięciu i
pół roku lub starszy i otrzymuje opodatkowane IRA tzw. „Taxable IRA
distribution” może w pełni odpisać
od podatków charytatywną donację
do $100,000. Jest to możliwe o ile
ta suma jest dodana do dochodu całkowitego na formie
podatkowej. Donacja ta może być wielokrotna o ile nie
przekracza limitu $100,000.
Chcielibyśmy przez to zaprosić aby państwo wzięli to pod
uwagę przy składaniu donacji dla naszej parafii Matki Bożej
Częstochowskiej w Cicero.
Jest to możliwe do uczynienia jedynie przed 31 grudnia

Kurs przed Chrztem dziecka
Przypominamy, że w każdą trzecią niedzielę miesiąca w naszej
parafii po Mszy św. o godz. 10.30
odbywa się kurs przygotowujący
rodziców i chrzestnych do chrztu
dziecka.
Osoby zamierzające ochrzcić
dziecko w naszej parafii są proszone o zgłoszenie się
na ten kurs prze chrztem dziecka. Dlatego należy pamiętać, aby:
► zgłosić się do kancelarii parafialnej przynajmniej
półtora miesiąca prze chrztem. (Aby uczestniczyć
w kursie przygotowującym)
► Przy zapisaniu chrztu jest wymagany akt urodzenia
dziecka.
Sakrament Bierzmowania dla Dorosłych
Przygotowanie dla dorosłych do Sakramentu Bierzmowania w języku polskim odbywa się w parafii św. Ferdynanda, 5900 W. Barry Ave., Chicago, IL 60634 w soboty o
godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Osoby zainteresowane prosimy o

Tak jak w każdą niedzielę tak również i dzisiaj wychodząc z kościoła można nabyć nowy numer Tygodnika
Katolickiego „Niedziela”. Znajdziemy tam bardzo ciekawe artykuły na temat życia kościoła w Polsce także
naszej Archidiecezji. Czytając ten tygodnik a także inne
publikacje np. „Różaniec”, „Anioł stróż”, „Rodzina Radia
Maryja” pogłębiamy naszą wiarę oraz miłość do Boga i Kościoła.
Jest także do wzięcia za darmo gazeta „Katolik” wydawana przez
naszą Archidiecezję Chicago
